“Signature of Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Though non-Muslims are not allowed inside, the exterior of the mosque is quite beautiful, and is a great photo-op. Though, in my opinion, there are many more stunning mosques in the world, the Koutoubia Mosque is a signature site in Marrakech, and shouldn't be missed.

“The Eiffel Tower of Marrakech”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Close to the Jemaa el-Fna square you will find the Koutobia Mosque, Minaret an Gardens . Quite big you can see eat almost all over Marrakech , so its a good landmark if you need directions. . Its quite beautyfull , originaly built in the 12th century and next to it you will find the remains of the Almohad Mosque . Also you a have a nice entrance and a garden if you to sit down and wait for prayer time.Close there is the Turismo Office and a kind of mini bus central !

Must visit, beautiful.

But be mindful of the people asking for money as once you give one you have to give them all so have plenty of change on you!

Non-Muslims are not allowed to visit, but you can see the architecture up close. This is an iconic landmark in Marrakech.

“Tall and beautiful.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

The mosque is the tallest building in Marrakech and can be seen from most places. The history is interesting, but its best to have a tour guide with you that will tell the story. You cannot go into the mosque unless you are a muslim so i cannot say what it looks like from the inside. It opens up half an hour before praying time and that is when it is very busy. It is well worth a visit though to see what is Marrakech's most important landmark.
