Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“Very small but worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Absolutely stunning, the whole place is the tomb divided into different sections, who gets to bury where pending on his or her status. Pay attention to the details because they all have significant meanings.

“Not worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

The tombs aren't worth going out your way for. There are no head stones or information, just some tiles on mounds in the ground. I saw some getting told off for sitting on a tomb, to be fair to him it looked like a ledge.

Perhaps if we had a guide to hear the history my view would have been different.

“Interesting and cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Spent a pleasant hour here. Was very cheap, but does remind you of a church graveyard. But at less than a pound entry, worth it to see the architecture.

“Worth a look around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

Not too much to see but for less than a pound entrance fee what is there is impressive and a very important part of the local history.
