Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“A graveyard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is basically just a graveyard, even if it is a particularly pretty one. If you're super busy, I probably wouldn't bother visiting, but it is only 10 dhs to get in.

“Interesting”

Follow the lane round to pay your 10 dirham each and then around a small windy lane to the tombs themselves. It is a cemetary but an old and very elaborate one, highly decorated according to the status of the occupant.

Worth a visit and you can go on your own rather than book with hotel reps tour. It does get rather hot in the afternoons, so make the trip am.

“Quiet respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Nice place for a tile afficionado, watching artisans restore work in the old, precise ways. Seeing the storks in their nests, enjoying the quiet within the walls, relaxing break from the rest of Marrakech.

“Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

For the small entrance fee, this little oasis is a pleasant surprise. Great architecture and interesting to admire the differences between Arab and western tombs.
