Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“Worth a visit...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Any trip to Marrakech should have some time planned for this - the intricately decorated tombs are excellent, in sheltered, cool walls a nice chance to see how these early Marrakechois honoured their dead.

Be sure to turn the 'wrong way' out of the exit and take a look around the local souk and see how the current inhabitants of Marrakech do their grocery shopping.

“Small but nice with an interesting history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Worth a short visit, it is also near a great roof top cafe - the Kasbah Cafe, which is right across the street from the entrance - plan on lunch there before or after!

“Impressive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Condition of these tombs is quite impressive, probably due to the fact they remained hidden from public until the beginning of 20th century. The biggest problem is finding them - feel free to ask someone for help when in the area; otherwise, you might invest way more time in discovering them than visiting them.

“worth the 10 mins it takes to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We enjoyed the tombs very much, but after 10 mins you have seen it all. No information in English as usual - check out a guide book instead. We came in the morning with no queue at all. The Kasbah marked close by is a nice, non-turistic experience, where you can buy some cheap vegetables. Only 10 dirham in entrance fee.
