Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“Preserved History”

Remarkable that this complex remained hidden until 1917, the tile work was outstanding and we were able to witness a skilled tradesman making the star shaped tiles by hand.

“lovely to see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

We really enjoyed our visit to the tombs, it was peaceful and interesting in historical terms. The visit was brief however, but only costing around a euro each this was to be expected.

“Interesting and unusual”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

If you have time and a guide to explain what you're looking at, the tombs are a good site to visit. The history is what really makes this a interesting place. If you miss it, however, not a big regret.

“Peacful, beautiful but brief”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Worth calling in on while they remain cheap, wuth serene tombs in very well-bult rooms. It's a peaceful spot, but not the longest visit

“A must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Go early - very small and very crowded but astonishing. The tiles on the tombs very intricate and the 'rooms' are beautiful and many quite intact. Carving and decoration amazing and only discovered not so long ago. Work still going on. Not a nice district outside
