Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“Wonderfull Islamic Designs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

A terrific selection of ceiling and wall carving and tile design. An absolute gem. Take time to study the wonders of the patterns and compare with gaudy European Renaissance art ! I've overstated a little just to make the point.

“Beautiful, but small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

The tombs are beautiful - great examples of mosaics that miraculously avoided desctruction by conquerors from the past (the history of keeping the secret of the tombs for hundreds of years is pretty cool).

It should be noted that the complex is pretty small and a visit won't take more than 30 minutes.

“Stunning architecture and beauifully peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

I loved the tombs. Really stunning inside and quiet away from the noisy street outside. All the tiling is lovely and it's like a little oasies of calm. The sunlight streams in through the arches and there are orange trees dotted around. It's really pretty and totally worth the 10Dh entry.

“Tombs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

You will see nothing more than what the title states. Men on one side, women on the other and servants outside around them. Not as elaborate as what one would assume a tomb would be like

“Smaller than expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

After visiting a few of the other tourist sites before going to the Saadian Tombs, we felt a little bit disappointed, we were expecting more from this attraction but it was a lot smaller than we expected.

Don't plan to spend too much time here as you will have seen everything within 10-15 minutes.
