“Hauntingly beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We visited around lunchtime and heard the call to prayer, whilst standing in its beautiful grounds. It was truly unforgettable in the magical setting with the storks flying overhead.

I would recommend you pay the 10dh extra to see the minbar, taken out of the Koutoubia mosque in the 60s. As non- Muslims, it was fantastically interesting.

“It's a shame that so little effort has been put into this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

If we had had a guide to give us some history, I think our visit to the El Badi Palace could have been very interesting, because it was clearly a place of significance but it's so poorly maintained, there is virtually no information at the site so you're really just looking at a bunch of stones and that doesn't do it justice, one senses. A real shame and I hope the officials in Marrakech put some work into this place to make it an informative visit to a historic site.

“Interesting palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013 via mobile

Good contrast to Bahia Palace. Nice to see information boards in English. The terrace and hammam areas are the best areas to spend time: view of the storks and over Marrakech is great. Probably worth the extra to see the restored minbar; if only to have a chat with the v friendly guards outside. There is extensive work going on in the middle of the grounds currently (Feb 13), which is kicking up A LOT of dust.

“Stork City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

This is a huge palace which is largely in ruin. Extensive restoration work is ongoing (March 2013). Could be amazing. Best thing is the nesting storks.

“lovely ruins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

You can imagine what the place looked like by the pure vastness of it. If it took 12 years to strip it to bare, it must've been magnificient. Check out the underground tunnels - great place for hide and seek. and gets you away from the baking sun. Take water with you, no amenities, loo can be found by the museum in the annexe.
