“Very nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2012

We were there last October and we enjoyed very much the location, it will take you about ten minutes to Yamaa el Fna. The hotel is nice and pool is between trees, a real pleasure. Staff is very kind and helpful. Rooms are not very big but are nice decorated. Although there were some bugs (bathroom is made of stone and wood), and breakfast was a little poor, I have to say that location is perfect and the hotel is nice and comfortable.

This is our 4th trip to the hotel - so yes, we love it!

It's extremely well situated a couple of minutes from both Koutoubia Mosque and the square. The style is traditional Moroccan so if heavy wood, tobacco coloured walls, old red rugs and an eclectic mix of local artwork, ornaments, furniture and subtle lighting aren't your thing this may not be for you.

Reception staff are very helpful and if you've booked without a travel company they are excellent at organising anything you might want to do and providing any information you might need. The receptionist picked up that while we were there it was my birthday so I was surprised with a birthday cake at breakfast!

Our room was delightful, we had a suite with a small sitting area and a patio area outide. All amenities are in the room except tea and coffee making facilities. So no need of a hairdryer, shampoo etc. Safes in the room are roomy and there was lots of strorage space.

Breakfast is a good spread with lots of variety: an egg station, fruits, cereals and yoghurts, bread, cakes and some hot food. We occassionally eat lunch around the pool which might be considered expensive but the food quality is excellent. We tried all 3 restaurants (French, Indian and Moroccan) on this trip and weren't disappointed with any. Food variety is good, well cooked and the service of the restaurant staff is excellent.

The piano bar is lovely for a drink to unwind after the chaos of the square and the staff are both polite and attentive.

There are 3 pools included one which is heated and a Clarins spa (though we didn't visit the spa)

All in all an excellent 5 star hotel if like us you prefer to avoid the chain hotels.

This is an excellent hotel, located right in the Medina and within walking distance of the souk, so visiting the old city is a simple matter.
From outside the hotel looks ordinary but inside it has great character. We were met on arrival with a cup of mint tea while our registration process was completed and were upgraded to a room overlooking the square around which the hotel rooms are located. The square contains a good sized swimming pool, with very comfortable seating areas and there is another pool on the roof top where you can sunbathe, even in February. The rooms are well furnished, with a large king sized bed, rather firm but pleasant.
The bathroom is well equipped and the TV has numerous channels in English. The hotel has 2 good restaurants, one serving Moroccan food, the other French. In the evening there is a piano bar and outside a fire was lit for us to sit around the pool. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Prices are reasonable by European standards, though perhaps on the high side for Morocco, but you get what you pay for and it is worth the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool area

A really enjoyable visit with great hotel in a great location with excellent friendly staff.
An oasis of tranquility and good service in a crazy and bustling place.
Atmospheric Medina, friendly guides to take local walks and day trips especially into the mountains.
Hotel service was excellent and the restaurants very good with variety, Indian,European and local cuisine with Belly dancer.
Do not be put off by the stories about Marrakech the visit and this hotel a great experience.

Room Tip: Ask for overlooking the main pool areas.

Service was very good and we enjoyed the variety of Food & Beverage options. Hotel offers all the typical luxury hotel amenities. Spa is very nice.

Not sure why you would stay outside the Medina in one of the "compounds" when you could stay at Les Jardins de La Koutoubia.

An excellent hotel in a perfect place, just 100 metres from "The Square" Jemaa El Fna - this is the place to be morning, noon and night, so bussy, exciting and entertaining.
Hotel staff were exceptional, food great (especially breakfast) and our room (one of the cheapest) was massive. Overlooking the medina garden from our balcony which comfortably held a four piece suite of sofas/chairs.

As you approach the hotel down the narrow, congested road, full of stalls, people, donkey carts and badly parked cars, don't be put off - you step through the doors and into a top class hotel.

Unheated giant pool at ground level but good for sunbathing and the heated rooftop pool is where you can enjoy a swim even if it is cool, as it was last week.

We had an amazing week and so glad we were smack in the centre of the old town, rather than miles away in the "new" hotel tourist area.

Everything about this hotel oozes calm efficiency and discreet service. The location, a 5 minute walk from the Djemma el fna is ideal, you can delve into the chaos of the square and the souks and then retreat back to the calm of the hotel.
Breakfast was superb, with a large choice and fresh eggs and omelets on offer amongst the ususal fare of pastries and cereals, We ate at two of the hotels restuarants, the Relais de Paris and the Jardins de la Bala, and again both were excellent.
There is also a Piano bar in the hotel serving alcoholic drinks, the pianist and his repertoire may not be to everyones taste, but we found it to be a relaxing way to round off the day.
All in all I will definitely be returning to this hotel, in'shallah.
