“a blissful stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

My partner and I stayed here in May and it was lovely - such a beautiful environment. We had one evening meal here which was great, and the breakfasts were fresh and lovely. The room and decor is eclectic but charming, and the roof terrace is blissful. Also within walking distance of the main Medina.

The most beautiful accommodation, and wonderful staff- I only wish we'd had more than 1 night here! Our room(s!) was fantastic- the suite had 3 fireplaces, 5 rooms, a piano and a skylight above which would open and close as you wished. Actually one of the loveliest places we've ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and go for a suite- though all the rooms appear to have a lot of character, I don...

Marrakesh is beautiful, interesting and intense. For us the Malika was perfect because at any time we could step back into its quiet atmosphere. Its gorgeous Art Deco style isn't just something to look at, but rather something you can really be inside of. Having dinner or breakfast by the fireside was like being transported back to the 20's. We've seldom enjoyed such style and comfort. The service was friendly and personal. The entire staff did everything to make our stay top level.

We went to Marrakesh for a family trip celebrating my fathers 60s birthday, 5 people, 3 mid 20s and 2 late 50s. Riad Malika was the perfect accommodation for us during our week long stay in Marrakech. The Riad had before arrival contacted us, to arrange transfer from the airport, which we were grateful for. We were a little unsure walking from the car to the riad (300m) through the hectic streets full of small local shops - and crazy driving mopeds, and in to dark allies - but a wonderful homely haven awaited us, at the end of the ally behind the big wooden door. As soon as you step in to Riad Malika, you are in a lovely tranquil courtyard. This became the center of our holiday where we would retreat to after great adventures in the city or in the mountains - enjoying tea, coffee or a beer to let it all sink in. We had dinner at the riad the first night and the food was really good, the next night we went to La maison Arabe, a nice upscale restaurant (and expensive) around the corner - but since the food was no better than at the riad, we ate at Malika every second night of our stay. It is very plain, honest food - but very well cooked, and very delicious. We had two junior suits and a senior suit, all individually decorated and very very charming all of them offering big beds, wooden fireplaces, gorgeous well picked decor, in addition to their individual features such as private living room and balcony - private rooftop terrasse - or private balcony over the pool. One of the things we appreciated and enjoyed the most was the devoted and unique staff Rashid and Hafid - they made out entire holiday so much better than we could have without them - from helping me secretly order a cake, getting it into the house and ready for my fathers birthday to surprise him with, to confirming appointments, booking hamam, restaurants, taxies, ensuring right prices, advising on avoiding turist traps, and always always smiling, joking, caring - making sure the small details as well as the big things were looked after. It made our stay such a pleasure, and I am grateful for all their help - it truly made a difference for our entire stay. They even got a hold of me on my fathers birthday, while we were sitting on the rooftop terrace playing games, and asked me to sneak his key down so they could put in champagne and small presents for him - this was a very nice gesture and made my father very happy. The place is unique - and beautifully decorated, the staff is amazing, the cleanliness is great, breakfast is lovely - also for a whole week. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We had a large suite, which was on two floors - and two junior suites one facing the pool, and one a...

Marrakesh is a wonderfull city to enjoy for a couple of days.
The stay will be even more special if you book in a beautifull riad like Malika.
The atmosphere in this riad is very warm. Our stay in the junior suite was excellent. The riad is very quiet and the furnishire and decorations are very tastefull.
A/C unit functions excellent .

Staying in a Riad is like Alice in Wonderland. One minute you are lost in a maze of streets and the next you knock on a door and are invited into another world.

We stayed in a junior suite which was excellent. We had an open fire in the room which unexpected but a great addition!

Jean-Pierre and his team were really hospitable - providing great advice and allowing us to store our bags when we went on a desert tour.

All in all - great room, fantastic communal areas and brilliant service.

Advice on arrival - the taxi can only get so far and you need to walk. There will be plenty of youngsters offering / taking your bags / directing you to the Riad. This is not free and 20 Dirhams is the going rate despite their insistence that you should pay 100!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a suite

Booked this Riad for two nights after reading reviews on Tripadvisor - good call!
We'd never have found it on our own, like most Moroccan buildings, there's little to give away what's lurking behind the door but it's worth it when you pass through the entrance into the courtyard.
Our room was simply fabulous, massive bed, deep bath, log fire and some fabulous decor. Staff, food, service all excellent.
One word of warning and nothing to do with the Riad but were dropped off about 200 yards away and a couple of lads with a trolley offered to take our bags - the mini bus driver advised us to tip them "20-30 Dirhams". When we got to the Riad they demanded 100 Dirhams each! - that was more than the taxi to the Airport. Be warned - agree a price in advance!
Jean-Pierre and all the staff were very helpful and friendly and we would certainly stay there again if we went back to Marrakech.
