“The oasis your looking for.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Jane Tamsna is one of those rare finds in a sea of Riads and resorts in Marrakesh. If you like to find peace, relaxations, and feel like a super star then this is the Eden you are looking for. The owners and staff are all the at the top when it comes to meeting your needs and making you feel welcome. Everything from the most comfortable beds, sheets and exquisitely decorated rooms to the grounds you can wander and explore at your leisure, to even a camel brought to the front entrance for a ride through the Palmerarie surrounding the resort. The meals are beautifully presented using the harvested fruits and vegetables from the gardens that make up the grounds and are fresh and delicious. You are close to the busy city center but yet in a place of quiet. There is no better place to spend your time and make a home away from home.

Room Tip: They are all beautiful. The staff will help graciously help you with picking the right one.

Where do i begin? Heaven on earth would be a great start, amazing staff, amazing gardens, amazing people ( meryanne, gary and family), amazing pools, and amazing mint tea ;)

The only downside is that if you go you will never want to return :)

Really near to the medina but peaceful enough to escape the city.

My second home :) x

This is one of my favourite hotels in the whole world. It's utterly beautiful - tumbling flowers, high ornate doors, passages open to the sky, palms, and warm breezes. At night it is lit up by candles, while crickets hiss in the surrounding Palmeraie. It has that feeling of timeless romance.

I first stayed there eight years ago and I've been back multiple times (with and without children). It's sleepy, peaceful and so, so, so pretty. It's like staying at country house where you're seriously spoilt, rather than in a stuffy over-formal hotel. The staff are charm itself, the food is delicious - ingredients are grown in the garden - and there's not a bad view in the entire place.

My children roamed the gardens making up exploring games, they played with the baby tortoises and had impromptu tennis matches with the staff in the corridor. They found it really liberating - a snapshot of the romantic north African childhood we all would've loved to have - and they always ask to go back. The rambling nature of the place means that you could avoid other people (and their children), if you wished, but there's a central sitting room - that evokes 30s glamour - if you fancied evening fun.

Room Tip: I loved staying in the main house, but the villas are very private

We went for a short break from our house moving and 4 young children. It was just what we needed. Peace and quiet and a wonderful place. We are not fond of "resorts" with endless activities to join in with people you did not choose to spend your holiday with so this was great. A few different pools to take your pick from and you are left to your own devices but there is someone instantly available if you need anything. Meals are given to you with no menu taking all the decision out of your hands and Meryanne was extremely welcoming. The décor is what you'd hope for in Morocco, wonderful colours, lanterns, archways and courtyards. We are already planning when to go again.

We have been going for 7 years to Jnane Tamsna ,we take the same room and love it every time .It is civilised and elegant without the formality and stuffiness that comparable establishments have and without compromise of service .The food is made with love ( vegtables and herbs all grown from an oasis of a garden ......the owner is a botanist and plantsman )There is no choice of menu but like Sally Clarke 's restaurant ,this means food is fresh and healthy and always delicious ! The staff have stayed the same since we have been coming the children now 16 and 13yrs regard them as family. While Gary looks after the gardens the perfectly decorated rooms and domestic side of the running of the hotel is the responsibility of team headed by Meryanne who has the best eye of anyone I know. It is on the edge of the Palmeraie away from busy town life but a 10 min taxi ride into Marrakech ....taxis can be ordered with little notice needed .Trips to nearby places are no problem for the Janane Tamsna team to organise .Rooms have no TV or telephone so no whiff of corporate .Fantastic swimming pools and a tennis court and massage if you want in the room .We love it !!.....also to add Meryanne is the most amazing party /wedding organiser we have friends who have had their wedding at Jnane Tamsna ...it was absolutely beautiful .

Room Tip: All rooms have their charm .

We stayed with Meryanne at Jnane Tamsna and it was one of the best hotel experiences for my boyfriend and I. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing weekend getaway and Jnane Tamsna was like a home away from home – peaceful, welcoming and indulgent. Arriving on our first night at a rather late hour, we were still warmly greeted by Meryanne herself and her beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback, Diva. We ended up having most of our meals at the hotel itself as the food was delicious - it felt entirely home-cooked, fresh and hearty. There were a few guests around including a young family, and we ended up making friends with most of them. However, the hotel grounds were expansive and it did feel like there was no one there but us at the same time. There were plenty of places for you to lounge around and fall asleep in the sun or read a book.

The hotel staff were so accommodating and warm, and were excellent in arranging a host of activities for the guests, including an awesome camel ride around the land surrounding the hotel. I remember relaxing on one of the sun beds on the hotel roof and deciding to return to my room quickly to grab a book. When I had returned to the sun bed after 5 minutes of being away, one of the staff had discreetly placed some additional pillows on the sunbed for me. Another incredibly thoughtful gesture of their hospitality and generosity was when they offered to let us stay in our hotel room until it was time for us to leave for the airport for our return flight back to London, which was late in the evening.

The rooms did not have any locks on them but don't let this deter you - the hotel is so safe, staff are watchful and they also provide in-room security safes for your valuables. If anything, it added to the familiar and homely atmosphere of the hotel.

I’m not one to return to places I’ve stayed before, but I would return to Jnane Tamsna in a heartbeat to stay again with Meryanne and her lovely staff. We loved every minute of our time there. It was a luxurious hotel but more importantly, full of heart.

We were recommended Jnane Tamsna but two separate friends and it ticked all the boxes. Meryanne is a very talented designer and has created a very special place allowing total privacy and peace but with the facilities of a hotel. We felt immediately at home. The gardens were beautiful and it was a joy to know that so much of what we ate was grown on site. It is the perfect antidote to the freneticness of Marrakech. I would go back in a heartbeat.
