“All you need for a short city break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

I stayed here for 3 nights with my partner from 5th-8th March. At about £38 per night we got a bargain, so were expecting a no-frills hotel. I had read several reviews commenting about the un-friendly staff...now wondering if these reviewers stayed at a different hotel?! During our stay the staff were friendly and courteous at all times, always happy to answer any questions, and looking up, smiling and saying hello as we passed. I'm sure it helps if you are polite to them, some tourists are so rude and dis-respectful towards hotel staff so why should they be polite back?!

We were pleasantly surprised with our room...good size, very clean, with a lovely little terrace backing onto a courtyard. Rooms were cleaned, beds made and towels changed everyday. There is a lovely pool area, unfortunately pool a bit cold this time of year but I'm sure it would be very inviting in summer! Breakfast was fine, bread, croissants, pancakes, jams, olives, tomatoes, fruit juice and tea or coffee.

Hotel was about a 30 minute walk to the main square Djemaa el Fna, if we were to go again we would probably choose something a little closer, that said it was quite a nice walk taking you past a couple of Marrakech's beautiful gardens so we didn't mind this one bit. A 5 minute walk took you to the open-top tour bus stop, I would definitely recommend this! It is about 145 dirham per person (roughly £11) for a 24 hour pass, there is a historic route which takes you round the main sights of Marrakech, or an oasis tour which takes you round the hotels and golf courses of the Palmeraie area. You can hop on and hop off as many times as you like, so we did both tours once and then just used the bus to get around.

We both loved Marrakech and are hoping to return next year! Having done a lot of budget city breaks the Oudaya Hotel is by far the best we have stayed in. A charming hotel with lovely staff. Enjoy!

The hotel was value for money, the staff were very friendly and gave us lots of advice on geting the best out of Marrakesh. The breakfasts were basic but plenty of it. The pool looked ok but the weather was to cold for us to swim. The service was good and the room was cleaned and fresh towels put in daily. The maids made the bed in a different way everyday and even left a rose in the room for us. The heater in the room didnt work and we could have used it on cold days

We booked a last minute break to Marrakech and chose the Oudaya Hotel because of price. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The reception staff were helpful and friendly and booked us on a tour to the Atlas Mountains that was cheaper than others we'd seen (230 dirhams). The maids always smiled and said bonjour, did a thorough job of cleaning our room and even arranged our PJs on the bed in the shape of a bow! Breakfast was OK - Moroccan pancakes with butter, honey or jam, croissants, breads, boiled eggs, tomato, tea, coffee and fresh orange juice. The pool looked lovely though unfortunately isn't heated so was too cold to use in March. The free wi-fi was also useful!

The hotel location could not have been better. It's two minutes walk from the airport bus route number 19 (nearest stop outside the cinema on Avenue Mohammed V ), a very short walk from the number 1 stop of both the historique and oasis hop on/hop off bus tours, 8 minutes walk from the railway station (handy for a day out by train to Casablanca), and 30 minutes walk along the main road that leads from the Gueliz area to the Medina.

Would definitely stay at the Oudaya Hotel again!

We gave this hotel an 8,5out of 10 on our scale...highly recommended.
A bit more expensive than than our book quoted which was a bit disappointing as it was not the busy season. Average friendliness and hard to find...apparently...our taxi dropped us off really far away and we had to lug our bags to the hotel which NO one seemed to know.

When there. Big mistake. I totally agree with all those who says the staff I horribly arrogant. Never even made it passed check-in. Took a cab and moved on.

They didn't even serve fresh orange juice for breakfast! After 2 fabulous weeks in Morocco, this was a disappointment for our last night/morning. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful (don't know who the previous reviewer was dealing with!) and the breakfast was terrible. More like a continental breakfast at an American motel than a typical Moroccan breakfast, we were very disappointed.
It's an ok place to stay (lots of availability, fairly good-sized, clean rooms, decent location) but with zero charm. So nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. I wouldn't stay here again, you can find much better in Marrakesh, which we had at the beginning of our stay.

Hotel was a little noisy, because of uncarpetted and tiled floors.
Swimming pool didn't catch the sun during the christmas 2010 period.
BUT, the staff made up for everything - they could not do enough for you, they were absolutely fantastic.
They helped us at every opportunity.
They really were fantastic.
I would recommend this place on that alone.
