“Good Hotel in a Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Having booked this hotel for a week and then read the many negative reviews after booking, we were concerned that we had made a big mistake. We were pleasantly surprised -the hotel was in a good location for getting to the main square, about a 20 min walk to Jemma El Fna--turn left out of the hotel, left at 1st crossroads and keep walking in a straight line through the Bab Sidi Ghrib Gate until you get to Avenue Mohammed V, turn right, the road leads to the Square and the Koutoubia Mosque . The facilities were fine and clean. We had no complaints about our large room which was throughly cleaned daily by a very pleasant woman. The hotels grounds were always spotless as was the pool area, though whilst we were there it was not warm enough to swim. The towels we were given to put on the pool side seats smelt strongly of sun tan oil - we felt they could have done with a wash.
Tremendous choice for breakfast, which went on for 4 hrs --no complaints at all.
We would have liked to have used the indoor pool but felt that their daily charge for this- 100dh per person was a bit too expensive.
Our main complaint was the rudeness of the staff on reception--they often totally ignore us even though no one else was standing waiting at the desk. They were not keen to give us any information about anything or what they gave us was totally wrong. We only had breakfast booked for the week--on the 1st night -we were tired just wanted a quick snack- enquired if there were any resturants/ cafes in the area-" No, they are a long way and are expensive" during the week we discovered "Caruso", a 5min walk away on Mohammad V1 Avenue were we both ate very well for under 100dh. On checking out-check your bill carefully! ! We couldn't decide whether they are like this with all their guests or is it just British guests and/or women.
Overall a good secure hotel 4star rather than 5star- just don't expect good customer service from the reception staff.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side, near the spa but NOT on the ground floor.

“Has seen better days”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

The common areas of the hotel are lovely but do not make up for the extremely dated rooms. My room while comfortable left a memorable impression with the clogged sink and outside noise that made it impossible to sleep one night. They did come and fix the sink but waiting around for a plumber on my vacation is not something I planned to do. I was thankful it was just my sink that was clogged as friends' toilet did not work. My room overlooked the front entrance of the hotel and I was kept awake one night by guests having LOUD conversations and fights in the entrance of the hotel. All in all, the room was clean and in a great location within easy walking distance to the Souk. Request a room facing the gardens when you stay there.

“Good location, don't expect 5 Star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

Lastminute.com describes the Kenzi Fahra as a '5 star, luxurious hotel', unfortunately I would have to disagree! It's not 5 star or luxurious but it is a nice enough hotel in a great location for seeng all the sights of Marrakech without being in the centre of the Medina.

We actually booked this hotel as a "top secret hotel" so had no idea what we were getting! We just wanted a good location and an outside pool area. When we arrived a big coach trip had just shown up so the reception was chaos! The first room we were given was quite a walk from the main hotel and had twin beds, so back to reception we went. The second room was in the main building but had no balcony and also faced the main road. The safe didn't work and the shower worked in bursts of hot water (the rest of the time cold). After a night of traffic we asked to change rooms again. Our third and final room was fine, although the AC didn't work and the shower was either scorching hot or freezing cold!

On the bright side, the service (reception, breakfast) and food selection available at breakfast were brilliant. The pool area is also nice and clean, and comfortable.

Would I recommend this hotel? Sure. If you don't mind big touristy hotels! We felt safe here and it was nice to be able to escape the craziness of the Medina by jumping in a taxi or walking back (20 mins).

“Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

This is a large hotel which has an outdoor pool and nice garden. We didn't spend a lot of time at the pool or the graden as it is within plesant walking distance of the Square and markets.
The room was comfortable with Wi-Fi which worked sporadicaly. It works well in the lobby.
Breakfast was plentiful and good. We did not eat other meals there.
Staff was not overly attentive but helpfull when asked for assistance.
The room was hot even though we had the heat off. Opened the windows during the day but could not leave them open during the night because of street noise.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are very quiet. We were street side and could not leave the window open at night...

“The Kenzi Farah - a memorable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

22 to 27 Feb 2013
Set in gorgeous gardens, the Kenzi Farah is in a really good position for the main attractions of Marrakech. The atmosphere is of true Moroccan warmth and liveliness. The first night in the dining room, with its live local musicians, reminded me of a big Italian family restaurant. The hotel is built on a massive scale (700 plus guests) but clever architecture divides it into intimate corners and enclosures, for example around the big pool there are sheltered pergolas where you can have meals or mint tea and admire the unusual trees and shrubs in the gardens.
And the food! Even we four vegetarians found plenty of delicious, healthy and beautifully presented dishes at every mealtime, especially the ‘salades cuites’ so renowned in Moroccan cuisine. The desserts are out of this world high class French patisserie like Gateau St Honoré, Mille feuilles, Rasperry crème brulée…
The Kenzi Farah wears its five stars lightly, not in a forbidding way but in a warm, inclusive way. In the lobby, a man sits in traditional ‘djelaba’ dress waiting to serve you a complimentary glass of mint tea. A shoeshine ‘throne’ stands nearby. .
The rooms are spacious and comfortable but not remarkable – a lack of drawer space was my only criticism. However the plasma TV had many more English speaking stations than any Moroccan hotel we’ve stayed in, and the strong water pressure made for power showers and quick-filling hot baths.
The Kenzi exudes the best of Moroccan hospitality, not just in its comprehensive facilities, but in the many warm and thoughtful gestures of its staff, who anticipated our individual needs and tastes to a remarkable degree. On the day we left, they allowed us to stay on in our room till 4pm at no extra cost to allow a disabled member of our party to rest before our journey home.
As I write, I’m missing those desserts…
