“SUPERB HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

we have just returned from a 3 day stay at this magnificent hotel. This is really a Riad comprising 3 courtyards but its beauty cannot be overstated. We had a lovely room with our own private upstairs terrace, leading onto a rooftop swimming pool. It felt like our own villa. But what sets this hotel apart is the staff from the excellent manager Jean-Paul downwards. The room rate whilst not cheap, includes remarkably all non alcoholic drinks. laundry, airport transfers. and a really nice lunch. The philosophy is summed up by breakfast times which are when you want it, where you want it.. When I asked the maitre d' if he wanted to know the time that we wanted to dine, he shook his head and said"you are at home."

The hotel is situated close to the main attractions of the old town and the hotel will arrange guides, taxis, restaurant reservations etc. Also the spa is excellent. This is a hotel where you will immediately relax, other guests sem to feel the same as there is a pervading air of tranquility about the place. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to come back again and again.

One cannot overstate the beauty of this place, a nineteenth century villa, whose three courtyards are filled with fountains, roses, orange, and olive trees. Exquisite design pervades throughout. Just steps from the Koutoubia mosque and the Sa'adian Tombs, the location could not be better. We enjoyed sunning on our rooftop terrace, which afforded dramatic views of the old city and snow-covered mountains beyond. The courtyard pool is especially lovely, although it could have been heated a bit more in February. Our room, a large suite, was grand; the bathroom wonderful. (Bath towels, though, should have been larger and softer.) Every staff member was kind and attentive, even sending out to the pharmacy for an item we needed.
Two months before our arrival, I had asked the hotel to arrange an English speaking guide for us. Mustapha Karroum (National Guide 831, tel [--]) arrived promptly the first morning. He was wonderful! We were fortunate to have this local expert, who (literally) went the extra mile for us in many ways, including driving us anywhere we asked in his cool, vintage Mercedes Benz.
Even if Marrakech were not the magical place it is, I would yearn to return to La Villa des Orangers, a balm for body and soul.

We have now stayed here a few times, had very different rooms in very different parts of the riad, and all have been incredibly happy experiences. This may not be the most plush hotel/riad in Morocco, it may not serve the best food, it may not have the best rooms, but everything it does right across the board gets 5* from us. And it's always a sheer delight to see so many of the same staff year after year with genuine smiling faces. If I ran a business where I needed front of house staff, I would be looking at poaching some of the great people that work here. And if this riad did not exist we really don't know if we would keep returning to Marrakech. We still try other hotels and riads for the experience, plus, so many riads are fantastically decorated which we find inspirational, but we always finish our vacation at the Villa des Orangers because then we know for sure our trip will end perfectly. And it always does. We love everything about coming here.

We stayed at this perfect hotel several years ago in May for 5 nights. The chambers are great, food is brilliant. Breakfast is very nice and is served whereever you want (as all other meals). Pool was cold so I haven't tried it, but sunbathing on the roof was fantastic after a busy day in Marrakech. Villa staff always ready to help you with anything!
We took master suite for 3 people. It was too much! like a big house! Baths - wonderful, marocco style.
So enjoy your stay at this magnificant place!

We had an amazing time . The Riad is 5 srar from start to finish . Joelle and her staff are friendly , helpful and very attentive. The Riad is spotlessly clean , the attention to detail is second to none. Joelle adds so many extra touches . The breakfast is amazing a real treat to start the day. We would recommend having dinner in the riad. Our riad was an oasis in mad Marrakesh somewhere wonderful to come back too. We will definately return. Amazing place to stay.

This Villa was above and beyond our expectations!!! The staff, rooms and cuisine were what you can expect from a Relais and Chateaux. In addition to having truly elegant surroundings, and having a choice as to where you take your meals, having breakfast, lunch, non-alcholic beverages AND your laundry included in the price is well worth it. My husband and I travel a great deal for both work and pleasure. This by far is THE place to stay in Marrakech! We took a three day trekking trip to the Atlas Mountains and came back to the Villa to find yet again, another upgrade and a greeting like we were family. I would suggest dinner at the Villa as well as exploring the Guerliz. We are rather intrepid travelers BUT did hire a guide (through the villa) for our first day of exploring the Medina and found that to be very helpful. We will most definitely return!!! Bravo to ALL!

We disagree with both Chris and Nisekolad latest reveiws. This is a place of tranquility, just walk in from the madness of the Medina,(walking distance) and serenity seeps into to your body. The staff are so helpful, pleasant but unobtrusive, and this is all due to Pascal and Veronique's high standards. Everyone is a credit and we thank them for making our stay in Marrakech so delightful. The hotel is filled with high class artifacts and it is a pleasure sitting and reading in any one of the recesses or by one of the three pools. The food was of high standard and presented beautifully, but we felt the evening meals were a little overpriced. We did enjoy our stay though.
