“Nice city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Mansour eddahabi, huge hotel, very well designed, joys the eyes where ever you look, wide halls, nice orient decorations, the place is really nice. I made reservation in this hotel by phone, after getting the keys, toke me long time arrive to the room (little left to Casablanca, thought) the hotel really big, good breakfast, paid internet service and expressive one. We paid $100/night it was good deal. For internet we bought USP cost us around $24 and we used it during whole all the trip.

Room Tip: Try to get close rooms to the reception. the closest will need 5 minutes walking. Ware sport shoes.

Ok... Here Goes...
I found this hotel via a Groupon offer which was being advertised. 1 week with breakfast for £279 for 2 of us.
Seemed like quite a good deal... Until I read the reviews on after I'd booked it!!
Have to say, I was extremely worried about what I'd booked leading up to our arrival...

Taxi from the airport cost 150 dirhams.
Hotel looked nice from the outside. Lobby nice and clean. Staff on reception... Not particularly welcoming!
On arrival we were informed we'd have to wait for 4 hours as our room wasn't ready. Not a great start.
We wandered for a while and when we returned to collect our room key we were advised that we had to pay an extra £40 (in taxes apparently) which we were not expecting. Not a great amount, but as we had not been advised of this upon booking I was a little angry! Be warned!
Our room was fine. Clean and tidy . . . But with separate beds. Air con wasn't fantastic, but the heat wasn't unbearable in Sept so it wasn't a major issue for us.

Free wifi in reception.

The pool is probably the best thing going for this hotel... Along with the breakfast (although I imagine it could get a bit samey if you were staying for longer than 1 week)
No problems with cleanliness or hygiene and the pool staff were all friendly. The snacks in the poolside bar were fine.

The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the markets of Marrakech. V nice stroll in the evenings if you wait until the sun goes down a little. Beware of pickpockets and be careful when taking photographs of stalls/monkeys/street acts at the Medina as you'll get pestered for loose change. You don't mind once or twice, but every 5 minutes gets a bit tedious. Well worth the visit though.

My only real gripe was with regard to the hotels excursion details.
One book on reception with a paragraph of info on each excursion they offer. No real detail and the staff were not particularly forthcoming with any additional info.
We booked the Cascades for £40 each (which had been recommended to us) and were told it was a 2 hour drive away.

It actually took us 3 hours 15 minutes to get there... Much longer than expected.
The walk was fine and the cascades were beautiful, (v pleased we went), however, the restaurant area and the food which was 'included' in the price was dreadful... Tonnes of flies whilst eating and cats at your feet. (I lost count of how many).
Not very appetising.

When returning to the bus after dinner the tour guide (a moroccan local who had met us on arrival) began demanding additional money from all that attended. We assumed he meant a tip and were about to hand oveer some money, but he was demanding a specified amount from each person on the bus and claiming that he was unpaid and that he was trying to make a living. Fair enough ~ the money he was requesting was not a great deal and we felt a little sorry for him...BUT... We were not told about this upon booking and actually felt a little cornered, and like we were being taken the mick out of.
When you book an excursion, you kind of assume that these such things are included in the price.
We took it up with the reception staff when we finally made it back... They claimed they knew nothing of it and told us not to worry on this occasion, however, I feel like I ought to warn others to beware of this!!!

In general, the hotel is quite nice... Could just do with a few tweaks here and there and maybe a little customer service training for the reception staff.

It was during the week end of the 29th and 30th of Sept 2012, arrived around 11PM staff not friendly at all not a single smile, very cold welcoming!!! if i was the manager of that hotel i would send that person right away to a training to refresh his understanding of hospitality. I am a moroccan and i feel very sorry for tourists who paid lot of money and are supposed to be very well welcomed!!!!

Arrived to our hotel room, TV was not working, double beds ( give me a break!!! i came with my husband not with a friend), a strange smell in the room and the corridor, the carpet was disgusting, the airco system was sooo dusty that it can send you right away to the hospital if you are allergic, a strange noise of vacuming coming from the other rooms stopping us from sleeping, we opened the window to get some air, water from a sanitary roof top sewer was hitting the ground of the terasse in front of us you can't sleep , the whole thing was not normal for a 5 stars hotel, the best part is that the room was not cleaned for 2 days.

hmm let me think of something positive about that hotel.... the pool, and the breakfast.

this hotel (main building) need a complete overhaul and re-fit. Hotel is part of the Palais des Congres complex but is actually a bit shabby and needs a lot of work doing to. The best thing is breakfast outside next to the pool. There are other hotels in the same area that are better.

I don't know how it stacks up to other hotels in Marrakech, but I found this hotel to be a good hotel. The pool area was great (if you don't mind the loads of water splashing children). The room was comfortable, although their sewer system was a bit gross. The beds were comfortable, the grounds beautiful, breakfast delicious. When you take a shower or the maid cleans a shower, an awful smells fills the room.

The room service is great (cheap delicious bottles of wine!) and they are pretty quick on the delivery. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you ask the front desk for suggestions on restaurants, they will give great plac, just be prepared for it to be a bit more expensive then other places and be more touristy.

I don't know about the other hotels in the area, but I would stay there again!

Do not go there! The worst thing is that nobody in the hotel cares at all about service. From check in to leaving we were continually esasperated at the staff and the facilities. The hotel is dirty and as mentioned in some other reviews, the hallways outside the room are horrible. Simple requests to the staff were always too much trouble.
