“Nice hotel shame about the building work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Reception initially couldn't find reservation - confusion between Palais hotel and Lounge hotel, reservation systems aren't linked and the tour operator Thompson didn't even know which hotel either or even that the hotels although one building and sharing facilities are split. Check-in is at 3 - so if you are on an earlier flight eg Thomson's, you will NOT get your room before then - be prepared.

The room which was then allocated, 164, was directly above some building works - and I mean building works - total gutting - so even though we complained on arrival we weren't moved until 4 days later. The room switch took 6 hours - during which our bags were left unattended in the lobby (despite me having been told they would be moved straight from room to room). Obviously then they couldn't find the bags once we eventually got the new room. Which although a bigger room, 219, - a suite- had no balcony and was overlooking a busy roundabout. The Thomson rep was noticeable by his absence and missed several meetings and didn't even bother to complete a complaint form.

On the plus side - the pool area was lovely and one pool was heated.

Good wifi everywhere even poolside.

Food - expensive eg about £10 for a plate of plain pasta by the pool, Breakfast was fabulous though.

Probably wouldn't come back.

We stayed here twice in a week, as we were trekking in the Atlas Mountains. On first arrival, after 30 hours of planes, airports and taxis, we got to the hotel at 20:00. Imagine our surprise when our rooms were not ready! We had a 45 minute wait before we could go up to our rooms.
On the second check in though, things went smoothly which was a blessing given that we desperately needed showers after four days in the mountains.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the decor celebrates Morrocan style in a very elegant manner. Rooms were spacious and quiet. And the hotel is relatively close to the Medina.
Breakfast is extensive with a wide selection of fruit, bread, cheese and cooked alternatives.
The only problem we found with the hotel was that service was very slow. Be it on the pool deck or the upstairs restaurant which has a beautiful setting, the wait is guaranteed to be long. My pet hate: the wine I ordered from the wine list was unavailable! The alternative I was offered was unfamiliar to me and tasted truly terrible.

and internet speed is really bad even around lobby area...

Otherwise a very nice place to stay.

The swimming pool area is really great with plenty of large sofa bed type area to relax with good privacy.
Service is quite efficient as well.

Ask for a ground floor bedroom a bit away from the restaurant as they come with a small private garden with a sofa bed. Perfect for an afternoon nap or a nice drink in the evening. Upstairs bedrooms have a view but a small balcony so ...

Anyway, if you get a good deal vs the stiff base price, jump on the occasion.

Ps : a bit too much of a place if you plan to just use the hotel for sleeping/breakfast though.

You have to wait an hour just to complete check-in transactions. The receptionist told us to make ourselves comfortable and they will come to check us in however we waited 50 minutes just to be noticed. Very very bad service overall, I do not recommend this hotel at all...

I had the pleasure of staying at this property on a recent trip to Marrakech. The location, within a short walk of the medina, is perfect. The rooms are a good size and tastefully decorated. The breakfast and lunch buffets are incredible. If you want to relax by a beautiful pool in a beautiful garden setting, you have found your spot. Definitely recommended.

No suprises, either good or bad
as a traditional luxury chain hotel, you have all what you can expect in such a property
the outside areas are very nice, with huge pools...
Service is not fantastic, which is a surprise in Marrakech...

A good alternative to a riad or other luxury hotels if you can't afford La Mamounia, Aman or Four Seasons...

Location is good, just outside the historical centre, 100m from La Mamounia and 200m from la Koutoubia

We stayed here over Easter for a week and had an amazing time. The hotel is just outside the old city and has great gardens and pools. The service was generally excellent and the staff were very welcoming. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with balconies and Lanvin amenities. For children there is a kids' club which wasn't always supervises, table football and pool tables. There's also a go kart track at the front of the hotel. The food was excellent and the concierge services were also good. The most amazing thing is the breakfast buffet. Probably the best one I have ever experienced anywhere in the world.
