“not bad for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

on arrival we saw a cockroach in the bathroom, the room seemed to be grubby ( a bit tired) staff was friendly but the breakfast was not included in our booking which i thought was a bit steep for just the room... The location was fab, right next to the train station and not too far there is a supatours ( long distance coach travel) I saw a swimming pool which we did not have the chance to use, it seemed clean. This hotel i would say is suitable for one night stay to get to somewhere next morning, CERTAINLY not for a week stay as it is far out from the medina.

Nice, clean hotel with good rooms, a beautiful restaurant and a generous oudoor place with piscine. Just the rooms climatisation had its problems to cool to a agreable temperature; Place is central and good to see Marrakechs attractions either than the close to the stations of trains and buses.

Room Tip: One bed rooms for couples are nice to be.

First impressions. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room provided by this hotel. There's no complimentary tea or coffee, just your basic bed(s), small desk area, and toilet/shower facility. The rooms also benefit from a half decent wifi connection. The hotel is situated next to a coach/train station which makes excursions to other areas quite convenient as well as a shopping complex which includes a Mcdonalds (the food in Marrakesh is awful!). There is a short 15 minute walk or a 20/30 dirham (panda taxi) ride into the main square so the convenience of location is somewhat debatable.

Our stay was in December, and the outdoor pool saw no use from other people staying there but there were a few people sat outside on the loungers. The hotel staff themselves tried their best to explain things to us, or provide us with information when we asked. They speak Arabic and French so it is understandable their English won't be perfect. A sour note in terms of staff came from the 'security', who despite us saying hello for the entirety of our stay made no attempt to even pretend to be polite or acknowledge us in any way. Only on checkout, did he insist on grabbing our bags to try to usher us into a taxi (no doubt, he would probably have pocketed some commission there!). I had to forcibly remove my bag off him and tell him we were going to the train station. He then started following us 'to make sure' we were going where we said we were. i'm sure it would have been a little intimidating/disturbing for some people.

The hotel restaurant opened up later than the time advertised, and the 'food' that was served was perhaps the most inedible of all the horrible food we had been served during the duration of the near week long trip and they added a service charge. The 'tagine' resembled watered down vomit, and probably tasted just as good. Bit of a shame, our stay started well, and then gradually deteriorated. Would I recommend this hotel? Perhaps not, but I think we had gripes more with the attitudes of some people (trying to make a quick buck), and Marrakech as a city in general.

This hotel was about 10 k's from the Jemaa el Fna the main square. A short cheap taxi ride away. It is a typical Ibis Hotel, clean, comfortable and value for money. A good quality breakfast can be eaten on the terrace over looking the garden. It has a swimming pool, although we didn't use it, it did look very tempting. We had a few evening meals which were adequate. Complimentary WIFI also.

The hotel was moderately priced and thus the service is what was paid for. Nothing fancy, small room, minimal service. It was a place for sleeping nothing more. The hotel has a small pool but I didn't use it.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014 via mobile

We are currently volunteering in the local community in Marrakech and decided to spend our day off escaping the heat by a swimming pool. The ibis hotel had been recommended to us by a friend as you are able to pay 100dh for a day pass in the hotel. After having spent the day here, I'm starting to wonder if the person who recommended it was really a friend. We ordered some drinks to have by the pool but the bar staff had no change, we were sent to ask at reception but it seemed no one in the hotel had any change to offer whatsoever. However, we were made to feel that this was somehow our fault. The bar staff were especially rude to us and made fun of us to the receptionist in Arabic in front of our faces. I have stayed in other ibis hotels and have had a very pleasant experience, but the staff here made our day one to remember for all the wrong reasons.
