“Outstanding Service and Stunning Surroundings”

We have just arrived home from our one week stay in a Pool Villa at the Palais Namaskar. All the staff are extremely professional, friendly and aim to please. The housekeeping team are friendly and efficient, our room and garden were spotless, the cleanest I have ever seen a hotel. Our garden and pool were attended to every day as well as our rooms.

The reception team are fantastic, organising a private guide for us and a car whenever we needed to go into Marrakech. The management team are on hand and freely come and chat to you, seeing if there is anything else they can do for you.

The waiters and bar staff were truly wonderful, friendly, professional and generally lovely people to look after you. We ate a lot at the hotel and we cant fault the food, the menu has a great choice and the food was presented and cooked fabulously. Their chef even prepared us a meal of our choice that wasn't on the menu.

The hotel grounds and buildings are stunningly beautiful, the whole hotel is decorated with outstanding taste, and it is looked after impeccably. The planting of the flowers and trees are beautiful and at night the lighting is exceptional...breathtakingly beautiful.

I attended the spa on a number of occasions and was very impressed with my treatments. The staff and surroundings again, were fabulous.

There is no problem with wifi, it is available everywhere.

If you are looking for a hotel in Marrakech outwith the hustle and bustle of the city (but only a 20minute car journey away), then I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We had an amazing honeymoon, would I go back, absolutely

With its good maintained gardens, Palais Namaskar is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, weddings or shootings. It is a place where you feel separated from the busy city with its daily fuss and where you can really come to yourself.
Even if a long stay will not be possible I would recommend at least to join a meal in the restaurant.
The staff will always give their best and are the most friendly people I’ve ever met!

Back in January 2014 my partner and I decided to celebrate a 50th birthday in Marrakech. After looking at, what seemed to be every hotel in Morocco we decided on Palais Namaskar which looked perfect. Stylish, modern but with Moroccan influences, quiet and secluded. Plus the reviews here on Trip Advisor were on the whole good. We managed to get a good deal through an internet agent so booked and paid for the eight days. Done and dusted!!

Six months later, (a day before we were due to leave the UK) I received an email from the hotel telling us that they could not honour the last three days of our stay and that we would be required to leave on the 13th (the day of my partners 50th birthday!). They offered to move us to the Taj Palace at no extra cost and we would be upgraded to a deluxe suite. All very nice but we had looked at the Taj and had rejected it because it looked more Indian than Moroccan. Also after checking the prices on line the ‘upgrade’ to a suite would have cost us less than the room at Palais Namaskar. More importantly we did not want to move on the 50th birthday, we did not want to move at all.

I called the hotel and spoke to the ‘reservations agent’ who told me that the royal family were taking over the whole hotel and there was nothing that could be done. He agreed to check what other options he could offer and I said I would think too.

I emailed back saying that I would accept the Taj only if we could leave on the 12th and not on the birthday plus we wanted an upgrade to a Pool Suite for the first part of our holiday. He replied that they would but only after staying two nights in our original room. This would mean packing and unpacking yet again. I counter replied with a suggestion that they offered us dinner with wine on the first two nights. To which he replied he would offer dinner on one night and no wine. By this time I was very fed up and insulted. Another email from me stating that “so far they had not managed to grant any of my wishes fully. We were the ones being grossly inconvenienced and that a Manager should have emailed us or called us in the first place with a sensible, generous compensation for our let down, and shame on Palais Namaskar”. Shortly after I received a message offering to upgrade us to a Pool Villa after the first two nights in a room plus one ‘romantic’ dinner. They would also offer ‘free’ airport transfer and we would suffer no inconvenience during our stay from packing and unpacking. Bored and tired but still looking forward to our holiday we accepted.

When we arrived at Marrakech airport we were picked up and taken to the hotel. It is stunningly beautiful, serene and tranquil. We felt very comfortable. No mention was made by any of the staff, which I thought was professional.

The room we were shown to was large, beautifully designed to our taste and we had a good first day by the pool. We booked dinner that night which was a very pleasant meal from their French menu. The next morning I asked at the reception about our move and was told that we could go to the Villa today at 4pm. This seemed to be good news so asked if they were going to arrange for our luggage to be packed again and brought across. I got a puzzled look and was told that if we wanted that could be arranged almost as if no one asks for this to be done!
I went back to the pool and enjoyed the sun. Needless to say we decided to do our own packing and at 4pm I went over to reception as was told to wait as the Villa was not ready but should be by 5pm. We returned again at 5:30 and were escorted to the Villa by one of the reception agents who retorted how lucky we were to get this upgrade. A bit rude, I thought!

The villa was beautiful, with a pool large enough to swim properly in (usually these are just plunge pools), a huge sitting room, bedroom, dressing room but smaller bathroom than the room we had moved from. Having said that we enjoyed the Villa enormously and were grateful for the upgrade.

That night we ate again in the hotel and had Thai food which we enjoyed.

The following day we decided to eat out and asked reception to book us a table at our chosen restaurant at 9pm plus a table at la Mamounia for drinks beforehand. After drinks at the Moroccan bar we had to take a taxi to the restaurant only to find it was closed on a Monday. We took a taxi back to the hotel and ate again there but plumbed for the Moroccan food, which was very nice indeed but so expensive for what we got.

The next day we were told that the agent on reception could not get through to the restaurant (probably because it was closed) but no one bothered to let us know.

We enjoyed our last couple of days at Palais Namaskar very much, breakfast was lovely, the service was good, I especially loved to see the brigade of cleaners and gardeners that came into the Villa daily to ensure everything was perfect and they did an exceptional job.

On our last day I was a little concerned as following an email I sent to the Taj asking for advice on what to do on the birthday they didn’t confirm our arrival. Twice, when I mentioned our move to the reception at Palais Namaskar we were told we were checking out on the 13th not the 12th as we had arranged. I was now worried, I did not want to leave this hotel to find that we were not booked in the Taj so asked them to confirm, more confusion.

Finally I asked to speak to a Manager and this seemed to be the first time I had communication with one. I spoke to Etienne who knew nothing of our plight and it now clicked that no-one in reception knew either. The reservation agent had dealt with it all himself and had not bothered to tell anyone….again. This hotel seemed to have a serious communications problem.

I know this is a bit of a rant but after attempting to book what was to be an unforgettable holiday for my partner’s 50th birthday it turned out to be unforgettable for some of the wrong reasons. Having said that I cannot stress how beautiful the hotel is and thought the upgrade was the right thing to do but it should have been done right at the beginning and we should not have been made to fight for it. The ‘romantic’ dinner we were offered we did not get but Etienne kindly deducted the cost of one of our meals from the final bill.

Were we inconvenienced and put out? Yes enormously!!
Did we enjoy our stay? Yes enormously!!

Your words concerning our decoration, our Staff and also the quality of the food and the ambiance at Namaskar are very much appreciated.

Nevertheless, we were deeply sorry to see that from a communication and service standpoint that we disappointed you during your stay.

As we are always keen to get to the root of our guests’ comments, Our staff should have gone further, making all the necessary confirmation and be put in your room upon arrival so all your stay changes and room upgrade are clearly itemized and when you asked for the room move, Providing you with bags packing so you can keep enjoying your day laying by the pool sun bathing. However, be assured that if you had called our teams, they would have been glad to bring you immediate assistance.

Regarding the prices in our restaurants, they do reflect the quality of our products, and as you probably know, we have the pleasure of having a chef who sets the Namaskar restaurant very high. Our aim is to offer a consistent product and service to each and every one of our guests.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed the decoration of Palais Namaskar, and loved to see the brigade of cleaners and gardeners that came into the Villa daily to ensure everything was perfect as over that past year and a half we have been pleased to reinforce the team with a number of naturally warm and genuine staff members.

Should we have the opportunity to have the pleasure of meeting you on your next trip to Marrakech, we will do our utmost to ensure that you receive the expected value.

This was my second visit to this stunning property in less then a year. Like last year I booked POOL VILLA and last year I wrote a great review about this place ( only because it was not so known and I believed to deserved it ) but this time things look really different hence this not so attractive one.
Again PN is truly divine place to spend time relaxing and recharging but the service is unbelievably sloppy. The food quality is not acceptable and I keep asking myself if the chef ever tries the food he serves its guests ( my list is to long I even have some picture's to prove ) One morning my eggs came peeled already !!! Now I travel to most exotic places in the world but this I have never seen before. The vine list in the restaurant is not up to date and you will end up paying more for less quality. The staff ignores the don't disturb flag and light on the door and comes in without any warning. The mini bar and nespresso coffee not restocked the day before checkout and dirty glasses and cups were not replaced with clean ones. Instead housekeeping was attempting to wipe the glass with something ( most likely dirty cleaning cloth they use to clean the surface in the room ) but I would find my lipstick smudged on them next day. Really not appetizing and not understandable for Oetker Collection Management invest more in training . At the check out the PRINTER WAS NOT WORKING ( last year they had the same problem but somehow they managed to fix it while i was waiting patiently) and I was told that the bill will be emailed to me the very same day. Till today 5 days later and couple of phone calls nothing. Given that this trip was booked via Centurion Card I called them to ask if they can help. Also I was shocked to be forced to ask the receptionist to consider added values and deduct them from my bill ( euro 75spa credit, lunch and complimentary soft drinks from the mini bar, private car transfer to and from airport( pick up was in BMW X5 ) Of course I don't know if that all was done or not yet. On the way out I was ushered into a van not a limo as expected ( included in higher room category like mine ) and when I sarcastically asked the lady if the large, ugly and incredibly uncomfortable van was for me alone she replayed YES YOU DONT LIKE? Wow truly disappointing this experience but am sure GM will replay shortly and find good explanation for this all. Oh yes at no time did the management recognised repeating client. Anyway I thought I would like to share this experience and will not return again. There are many many other great places like Aman, Four seasons, La Mamounia and of course Royal Mansour (fabulously grand by the way ) to visit. If you spend ££££ a day you can do somewhere else much better.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the divine spirit and tranquility of the hotel. However it is with great regret we read that your stay was not up to your expectations.

As I had the pleasure of taking over the helm of Palais Namaskar last year, I felt that it would be important to give you an update of what we have been able to do at Palais Namaskar over the past two and a half year.

You are so correct that when staying at a hotel in our particular category, you expect perfection at all times, in every aspect thus; a significant amount of investment has been put into the Hotel, both on upgrading the facilities, but also importantly for you, reinforcing the staff in the departments where we were particularly falling short. It is all about the consistency in service, and we are certainly sorry that you were not given the attention you deserved during your stay. We generally are pretty good about learning immediately of guests whom we have disappointed, as We are eager to learn, but seemingly not in your case, what we noticed when we questioned your comments and went back through our investigation; you went on enjoying the tranquility of the space and refresh from the Zen spirit of Palais Namaskar staying all the time in your pool villa and having quite most of the time room service and spa treatments where you left good impressions about them and expressed satisfaction. Our Food and Beverage team is trying to understand where we failed in perfection and you would help us if you could let us know how we could improve here. I was pleased however to learn that at the time you were happy with our spa.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Hotel and let you discover the changes in both restaurant and room service - and the new facilities such as the Spa and Fitness as we shall launch the champion spirit ,from which we take inspiration to become better every day.

A true oasis you will find it hard to leave the hotel. Beautiful landscaping, endless water bodies and contemporary high tech rooms make this a world class hotel. We particularly loved the ambiance of the rooftop bar with its perfect setting, from which we sipped our cocktails watching the sun set over the surrounding arid landscape and imposing Atlas mountains. The food was fresh and elegantly presented allowing my friend and I to eat healthily for a few days without even noticing. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of there way to ensure that we were well looked after. I experienced a truly authentic Hammam in the spa which I would highly recommend.

Laurent, you manage a magnificent property, I was truly transported from the minute I arrived. It feels like you have stepped into a lavish enchanted garden that whispers soft fragrant delights everywhere you go. You have an exceptional team who really did everything possible to ensure our stay was flawless. Details are so important and seeing it not just from a personal perspective but from our client’s really suffused much confidence that you would always make a stay at the Palais magical regardless of who you are. You strike that perfect balance of attentive but not too intrusive!

I wanted to extend a special thanks to the following members of your team:

Etienne – truly wonderful and attentive in every way, nothing was too much trouble. Arranging our trip to the mountains, allowing us flexibility for the city tour, the list goes on, ensuring we were taken care every step of the way. You have a fine front of house representative, a really great asset to your team!

Muhammed – front reception – A perfect blend of warmth elegance and attention to detail, we had left dinner reservations a little late, however Muhammed remained undeterred and ensured we secured a wonderful table at Maison Arabe, he was also seamless in all our transport requests and other logistics. His warm smiles and welcome really left a great impression.

Salim – He was our host when we first arrived and took us through a lovely tour of the property, ensured we had everything we needed before he left us to relax, a warm and lovely young man who smiles from his heart

Malika and the Spa – I truly felt I had entered a mini paradise, Malika not only accommodated our late arrival with no issues (we ran late from the mountain tour), she oversaw that we enjoyed an incredible 3 hour journey into ultimate and deep relaxation. The area for couples is perfect and really offered us the privacy and luxury of being softly cocooned. I really do enjoy spa treatments, this has to rank at the top – Laurent, I admit at the moment it is in the no.1 spot. The therapists have been trained to an exceptionally high level which left us floating at the end! It has been a very stressful 6 months and my father was out of the hospital (serious spinal injury and 17 months) last week so this short escape was much needed!

The rest of your team throughout the property have such lovely welcoming smiles at all times, the gracious hospitality and the desire to help in whatever small way to ensure we are comfortable is truly a great achievement

The tour and driver we were allocated was organised brilliantly, you have a great agency who extend out the Palais seamlessly. Our driver had a fountain of knowledge and was courteous, funny and attentive at all times. The Berber experience really was a highlight, you are lucky to have such a mountain range at your door step! The only small thing that crossed my mind was more of how a larger group would not really work that well travelling up for the experience, but for a smaller intimate group it really is wonderful.

The property itself really doesn’t reveal its full beauty in pictures, it is so much more than I imagined it to be in person! spoilt with the Palace experience and as I mentioned in person, I was transported to another world/time where I felt like some Arabian princess, every comfort is catered for, the palace was extremely comfortable for the duration of our stay and the view perfect!

Please be rest assured, I will be spreading the word and heartily recommending your property to my contacts and database and I hope you will be fruitfully booked up

I never reviewed this hotel because I never spend the night here and sincerely after visiting this place at least 5 times, I always get the same feeling. Beautiful place, the gardens, swimming pools, architecture, the villas in and outside, the rooms...but lack of professional service is always there. I had lunch here several times in a space of 1,5 year and now tried the sky bar. Service is not rude but not at all meet the standards they should. One thing is they always is a slight push to drink more and that having in mind that alcohol is not cheap here. The ultimate comment we had in the SkyBar (don't consider drinking too much as you have to take the winding stairs after...)was: "Tu vas boire encore"...excuse me??? In english: "Are you going to drink more" I think if they want you to make drinking more at least treat the customer with respect and add this phrase to your vocabulary: Would you like another bottle of wine? Or Would you like to order any other drinks? It's a fab place but this something they should consider to improve urgenty. Surprisingly the owner was also hanging out in the SkyBar but this didn't improve the service.

I was too surprised that the service at our nomad bar was not as it usually is; that we did not rise up to the high quality of service is unacceptable, That you were left with the impression that we cater to those where money is, is really not the case, but here again, if that was your reading, then of course we did not live up to our reputation.
