“Perfect place for Americans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Riad Vanilla sma is the perfect place for Americans in search of adventure in Marrakesh. We were referred by friends in Houston about this beautiful B&B in Africa, The quality and standard provided by Mrs Nelly and her staff were beyond our expectations...Upon arriving we felt at home immediately, and very safe. The rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. The food is very tasty and the breakfast just delicious. It's so nice to be taken care of by caring people.
Thank you for everything.. One of the best place I visited in Africa!!!!

Room Tip: Room Kamar was just perfect for us. The room have a nice window and a cute sitting area

I've never written here before but have to recomend this place, it's brilliant. It's all about Nelly and her staff who make an often bewildering city a place you can relax and enjoy. Nelly sits you dwn and explains the city and tells you the cool places to go, something you would think most riads would do but none that my friends have stayed at did this. Plus everything here is lovely, the rooms, the bathrooms, the terrace, the breakfasts are all stylish and cool and modern, other riads look like a plastic disney version of morocco here you have all that is great about the city but in a fabulously cool setting, plus this is the warmest welcome in Marrakech. Oh and the beds are great!

I cannot recommend this riad highly enough. Nelly and her staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. Over tea, she sat and talked to us. She gave us a map and pointed out all the places to visit. This proved to be invaluable despite us having a guidebook. Her recommendations for places to eat were all fantastic. Marrakech can be a daunting place to visit and her riad offered the perfect sanctuary from the chaos outside. It's very rare that a proprietor takes such an interest in her guests and this was the standout feature of our stay. Our room (ciel), as with the rest of the riad, was spacious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The location was ideal as it was only a five minute walk from the main square.

I would also recommend taking nelly up on her offer to arrange for a pick up from the airport. We were spared the nightmare of haggling with taxi drivers and weren't ripped off. A fantastic place to stay.

Fantastic experience staying here! Nelly and her staff are wonderful people, very helpful. Whether you need advice on restaurants or help arranging trips out of Marrakesh, Nelly is there to help you. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was really enjoyable and the dinner (egg tajine) that Mustafa prepared on one of the nights was excellent. The rooms and the entire riad are thoughtfully and beautifully furnished. Highly recommend it!

I stayed at Riad Vanilla sma for 2 nights on 11th and 12th of September alone. The room was quite huge which was compared with another Riad which my friend stayed at and very clean because of new! And it was very unique. Because all rooms were based on the nature of the earth. My room was "Cloud" in blue which I like. (Room had a big bathtub !) Ms Nelly, owner, was amazingly helpful and flexible for the guest. She sent answered quickly against many my inquiries and questions. Even last minutes dinner request in RIad in the late evening, she just said "OK" with smile. The chicken tagine with olives was just amazing more than I expected. They are cooking a certain and fresh one. I strongly prefer to come back to Riad Vanila sma when I travel Marrakech again!

We had a perfect stay in this riad. We stayed 4days and 3nights in marrakech but stayed most of the time inside this riad as it was too beautiful to leave behind. ,marrakech lived up to its expectaion being chaotic, stinking hot, packed and noisy outside. But as soon as you open the door to the riad, it feels like you are saved from all the hussles of the outside world. Its was a divine retreat. Owner Nelly was very accommodating and sweet which added to experience. During our stay, we were very comfortable and relaxed and felt like home away from home.

Riad has only 6 rooms which is a bonus so it felt very private compared to larger hotels and riads.

If I get the chance to go back to Marrakech will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get the honeymoon suite. You'll love it.

From the narrow medina street and un-imposing front door you might wonder what you are in for - until the door is opened with a gentle smile and greeting [ no, not Nellie !]. A cool, soothing
atmosphere greets you, created by the water pool in the courtyard and the sophisticated but
un-pretentious decor.
Comfortably seated in the groundfloor 'reception' area we were served freshly brewed mint tea
while Nellie made us feel at home and and gave us a verbal guided tour of the Riad and the surrounding area.

My wife had been ill for two days and I was suffering internal upset so we were not the most
inspiring guests! But Nellie, and her staff, for two days went out of their way to make us comfortable, catered to our every wish and served food acceptable to our delicate stomachs. She even sent out for special requests such as bananas, and late one night for hariri from a local restaurant.

Our room was spacious & comfortable with efficient air conditioning. The bath was stylish and
large with a powerful shower.
Everything was just first rate ! Definitely recommended.

As this Raid was booked for us through Alizes Travel of Casablanca, as part of an all-inclusive tour I cannot commment on 'value' [ though I rate it highly !]
