“lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Dar el Qadi is a lovely and welcoming house in the heart of the old town in Marrakech. About a 5-8 minute walk from the main square and close to local attractions like the Medersa. On arrival at the Dar we were served a welcoming spread of lovely mint tea, biscuits, pancakes, jams and honey.

Four of us stayed in the small douria (apartment) which had one twin room and 1 double room, small sitting area and a lovely big bathroom. The sitting area didn't get much use as it only had some chairs and the cosy living room downstairs with a real fire was far more enticing. The bedrooms were very comfortable with extra heaters provided. The only negative was that the twin room didn't have anywhere to hang or store clothes - it would be great if the owners could put up a few hooks and maybe a shelf or some drawers.

The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Mohammed in particular took good care of us, making sure the fire was stoked and we were never short of mint tea and biscuits. We ate dinner once at the dar when we were rained in, normally you need to give a days notice but everyone went out of their way to cook us up a last minute meal which turned out to be more of a delicious feast that we couldn't finish.

Breakfast at the Dar is more of the same lovely jams and honey, pancakes, flaky bread and pastries. Delicious but we did get a bit overwhelmed by too much bread in the mornings and would have loved eggs or something savoury.

We arranged a day hike in the Atlas mountains Imlil Valley through the Dar's contacts Mustapha and Yousef, it was a perfect trip and very well organised.

The Dar has other good facilities that we didn't get time to make use of - a hammam and massage room.

Overall a great place to stay, warm, welcoming, conveniently located and with staff who will go out of their way to make sure you feel at home.

Dear guests,

Thanks very much for your detailed and globally positive impressions on your stay in Dar el Qadi with your friends.
Your negative point concerning the twin room in the small douiria is quite true, due to the fact that the bedroom has not much space to add a piece of furniture but I take it here into account in order to find a fast solution to store one's clothes.
Nadia has been informed that for breakfast, eggs and I also suggest hand made yoghurts, would have to be added on request, as well as any other possible suggestion made by guests at their arrival.

Best regards
