“Oasis of Peace and Calm in the middle of the busy Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

Great, personalized service. Big and clean rooms with a nice brekafast on the rooftop terrace. The pool is small, but very refreshing in the heat of the summer. Mbarka has a lot of practical tipps on places and prices that you won't find in local guides. She also organizes comfortable airport transfers at a reasonable cost. A gem in the middle of the busy Medina.

Thanks to Tripadvisor we found out about this Riad - which exceeded our expectations! When we first arrived we thought we ended up at the wrong spot, because from the outside you just don't expect to end up at such a nice place. Even though this Riad originally belonged to a 'simple family', it almost feels majestic due to the carved wood, the little patio with the swimming pool and the lovely and helpful staff. Every morning we had a different breakfast and at night we could relax outside with a beer. A more than great stay in Marrakesh!

Stayed for 4 nights in March/April (from March 30th). Mbarka (the host) was extremely helpful, gave great tips on navigating the medina (and beyond) and tipped some amazing restaurants. We had dinner in the riad one evening, the food was excellent and breakfast every morning on the rooftop terrace was fantastic. We had 2 small children with us and we were all made to feel very welcome and at home at all times. A perfect oasis in a great location right beside the souks and close to the main square. Would definitely stay here again, thoroughly recommended.

Riad Bab 54 is a perfect place to spend time while in Marrakech. I was blown away by the hospitality of the staff. I could not have asked for more. The rooms were decorated beautifully and they allowed you to control your own heating and cooling which is perfect for February. I enjoyed breakfast on the terrace each morning and exceptional showers each night. Mbarka, the manager, makes the Riad all the more wonderful. Her vast knowledge her country is helpful in planning follow-on trips throughout Morocco. The proximity of the Riad makes it perfect for exploring all that Marrakech has to offer.

Raid Bab 54 is in an excellent location within the Medina, only 100 meters from the Souks and about a 5 minute walk to Jemaa El Fna square. Its very clean and quite stylish, good quality fittings in the room and bathroom which had a walk in shower. Had an excellent breakfast on the pleasant roof terrace each day as the temperature was up in the 80's & 90's. It included egg, orange juice, toast (more like pancakes or bread roll), plus fruit and yogart and included a choice of coffee, English or Moroccan mint Tea.The manager Mbarka, who speaks quite good English, was very helpful in arranging trips. Its worth asking the Raid to book a taxi from the Airport, 20 Euros, it would not be any easy place to find without the porter who met the taxi and navigated the 10 min walk through the souks to the accomodation. There is a small sqaure v close to the riad, handy for getting a lunchtime snack. There are not many places that serve alcohol in the Medina, although you can get wine with your meal in Le Marrakech resturant in Jamaa El Fna Sq, there is a bar of sorts (£2.40 for a small bottle of beer) in the Grand Tazi hotel (which has seen better days!) and Kozbar which is quite stylish & more of a resturant though has a proper bar, bottle of beer £4.50 although the wine list did have bottles of wine/champagne at over £100 if you want to spend that much! Stayed 7 days at the Raid and would throughly recommend it. If I return to Marraketch again for a week I would spilt my time between staying in the Medina and the New City as it can get a bit samey in the Medina after 3 or 4 days.

Fabulous first trip to Marrakech, in March (29degrees)The hustle and bustle, the fantastic colours and smells, the thousands of people, made all the better by the peaceful and relaxing stay at Riad Bab 54. An OASIS of beautifully, traditional coolness and calm amidst all the excitement of the souks and Djema El Fna Square. Markha and her team could not have been more helpful; organising trips and guides whenever we needed them, with great tips for places to visit, best places to eat (often not the ones in the guide books-but better, as they were not too touristy or european.) We ate in the riad on our first night and our meal was superb. Our room was generous in size, air conditioned and decorated in contemporary style, with a large wet room. We chose to have breakfast each morning on the roof terrace.....Bliss.....but we could have had it anywhere around the riad. It was helpful that the staff speak english and french as well as Arabic. Only negative was that two riads were being renovated close by which meant navigating around piles of sand and bricks in the small cobbled lanes and no street lghts after dark, but they've probably been completed now.....the riad walls are so thick, so no noise or dust affected us there and this would not put us off going again........we're hoping to return in September!

Room Tip: The triple room we had was great as it had more space but all the others looked nice too.

I stayed at the riad for two nights with 3 friends while in Marrakech before heading east to the desert. The riad is unbelievably beautiful, and everyone there incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, and the rooms had heating (it was February and cold). The rooms we stayed in were both wonderful, and incredibly comfortable. The location is great, it is away from all the crazy hustle and bustle of the Jmaa el Fna square, and in a pleasant area of the medina. The roof top terrace is a great place to eat breakfast and catch some warm morning sunshine, and we received great advice about things to see and help with future travel plans that made the rest of our trip that much more wonderful and easy! I would highly recommend staying at riad bab 54 if you are ever in Marrakech.
