We booked Riad Africa directly with Specialist Marocco who own Riad Africa due to our special requirements. My husband uses a wheelchair but can walk very short distances and we were offered a room on the ground floor. Whilst the adjoining bathroom was not DDA compliant as we would expect in the UK - no hand rails or adapted shower - it was not offered as an accessible room so we did not feel we were misled in any way. It was perfectly manageable for us but it would not suit someone who was non-ambulent. A ramp had been made for the one shallow step near the entrance to the Riad which was really helpful.
The staff at the Riad were brilliant; any request was met promptly with good grace and cheerfulness; all are genuinely caring and attentive with a wish to make your stay in Marrakech a happy one. Tim the manager is very helpful and kind and he his comments make interesting listening. He also has many years experience of living and working in North Africa and his advice is worth taking. We had also asked the company to organise a guide and a day trip for us and everthing was excellently organised and accomplished seamlessly.
Riad Africa is clean and comfortable; the room sizes are governed by the size of the building and they make best use of the space available. We ate in a couple of evenings; it's a set menu and excellent value at 150 dirhams for three courses; you can eat cheaper but you won't get better quality food elsewhere. I am on a gluten free diet and this was also accommodated with out any trouble.
The thing I liked the best? Returning after a day out and walking into the cool tranquility of the courtyard whilst only 50yards away all is hustle and noise.
The thing I liked least? Occasionally hearing other voices in the courtyard at night - but this is beyond anyone's ability to put right. Next time I'd take ear plugs!
I would recommend anyone to stay at Riad Africa; it's great value for money, clean, comfortable and wonderful staff.

I stayed in Marrakech staying in two Riad’s .. The Riad Africa was totally amazing , we were offered great service and advice & recommendations of where to go & where to eat ,, this was my 1st experience of a Riad and it didn't Disappoint.. it was fun to meet other guest share stories, & to stay in a Traditional Riad V's a garish modern hotel which could be anywhere ..
the service provided by the local staff was excellent a real credit to the Riad ,

Thank you for a wonderful time & making our trip a memorable one

Nicely tucked away down a few sides streets in the middle of the medina and less than a 5 min walk to the large square it's well located. The staff are impeccable - friendly and attentive. Breakfast on the roof top terrace was one of the highlights of the weekend as all the food was impeccable. My only complaint was the shower which was a drip of cold water and quite laughable considering the size of the shower head. After hiking about for the day a nice shower is a must. There was a large cock roach in our bathroom but they are everywhere. Did lounge in the pool/bath which was a nice temperature but it is rather small.

What a wonderful authentic and characterful Riad. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here. Tim the manager is very informative and gives helpful advice on how to enjoy your visit to Marrakech. As others have said we can not praise the staff enough. Mohammed with a ready smile. Said with his help and advice. The ladies who cook and make up the rooms. They just could not do enough to help us. They are truly lovely kind and generous people. It is this that would make us return without hesitation.
The location is great, quiet but close enough to walk to the square. It is perfect , not being too far away from any of the places of interest. The rooms are lovely, not big , but comfortable, and clean. Breakfast on the terrace was such a treat. Breakfast was lovely nice fresh breads and pastries, yoghurt, fruit eggs.
We had dinner at the Riad the first night, which was a chicken tagine. Beautifully made and such a nice welcome.
The Riad has a plunge pool , which is not heated and is cold , but as it was 38-40 when we stayed it was a welcome relief.
Overall a great place to stay, good value for money, and a very enjoyable experience.

A big thank you to Sue and the whole team in Marrakech for giving us the most fabulous holiday. Riad Africa was a great base for our time in Morocco; authentic, characterful, comfortable and personal, and superbly located in the old town. The service was outstanding. Tim, Said and all of the other staff were so welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgable. They made sure that our holiday went without any glitch and really helped us to settle into this new culture. We went on numerous day trips that Sue and/or the Riad staff organised for us and we enjoyed every moment of them. They were all excellently planned and the people that led them, and those that welcomed us into their homes, were delightful. And the icing on the cake was that we all loved the Moroccan food, even our teenage children! You can't get much better than that. The best family holiday we have had in a long time. Big grins all round.

This was a lovely little hotel right in the Medina, so no cars to the door, but donkey and cart!
The hotel was comfortable, and the food really good and good value. Tim the manager was very helpful, although I don't think he will be to everyone's tastes. He wasn't afraid to share his opinions, so if you'd prefer a more retiring host, think again! However, so long as you don't take all his assertions as gospel, he was really helpful and entertaining, and had lots of hints and tips.
The rooms were nice, considering the challenges involved, and lovely bathroom. The dining room and living room were a bit small, but considering it's in the Medina, that's what you sign up for. Out air conditioner broke and dripped on the bed, which wasn't great, but as we didn't report it (half asleep at that point) I don't know how well they would have fixed it.
Overall I thought good value for money and an enjoyable experience.

We stayed here (12 women) for 3 nights. English speaking manager Tim was very helpful with do's and don'ts and was excellent at arranging transport and trips. The other staff were friendly and looked after us faultlessly. Tim even contacted us in Casablanca to say money had been found in one of the rooms, so genuinely honest too. The breakfast on the rooftop and home cooked Moroccan dinner was memories to last a lifetime. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
