“a lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I would thoroughly recommend this Riad
- Alain and Laurence ensure that very high standards of service are adhered to
- The location is excellent, about 8 mins from Djemaa El-Fna but far enough away to feel that you have your own sanctuary
- Inside the decor is of a high standard as is the bedroom we stayed in
- Alain and Laurence provide excellent advice of how to get the best out of your stay
- The roof top terrace was lovely for breakfasts and the occasional evening meal

In conclusion we very much enjoyed our 5 nights there.

Room Tip: If you go when it is hot, make sure you choose a Riad with air-conditioning!

With so many riads on offer in Marrakech it is difficult to know which one to choose. We were lucky we stayed at the Charme D'Orient.

Location - short walk to the main square (Jemaa el-Fna) and the start of the Souks + close to "real Marrakech" away from tourists (opposite direction to main square).

The host - Lawrence was was very attentive and her attention to detail from the way she has refurbished the riad to the quality bedding and the high standard of cleanliness she provides did not go unnoticed. Ask her for recommendations for out of the way restaurants. She can also organise day trips and book hammams but she does not push this fact.

Pool - many people see a pool in the photos and think they can use it for bathing. The pool is in the courtyard on the ground floor and is more decorational than functional.

Taxi service - we chose to use a taxi driver she recommended. It probably cost us more but he waited for us during baggage delays and got us to the riad within minutes of leaving the airport. Said, the caretaker/manager, would meet all guests at the taxi drop off and walk us through the narrow streets till we got our bearings. Wonderful service!

Would thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: The top room on the roof terrace is smaller and wifi reception was touch and go but on the plus side...

We stayed here for 5 nights in September 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are beautifully decorated with good air conditioning enabling us to escape the heat of the souks. The riad is well situated in the old town only a short walk to the main square.

The breakfast was lovely based on a standard continental with a Moroccan twist. On one evening we at the Riad. We ordered a Tajir which was amazing !!!!! And highly`recommend.

The staff are always present to answer questions and give advice about what to see and do around the city. Would highly recommend asking the riad to book you a cab for trips to and from the airport to save you a lot of time and hassle.

stayed here with friends in April. Lovely Riad - great staff, wonderful service, beautiful interiors etc. Highly recommend and only 5 mins walk from the Kozey Bar which is my favourite place! We had lunch here as well which does need to be booked in advance but was wonderful.

Room Tip: we were with a group we knew but if you are on your own and want to be quiet don't opt for the g...

We LOVED our stay in this riad! The building and the rooms are absolutely beautiful, and very clean and comfortable. The owners and staff were so friendly and welcoming, and gave us some great tips on how to navigate the city, good places to eat, and what sights we should make sure to see during our time in Marrakech. We would return in a heartbeat!

We stayed here for 3 nights in May.
The riad is absolutely beautiful. The location was great, we were just inside the walls of the medina but easy to find and about a 10 minute walk to Jemaa el fna . Laurence was a great host. Gave us all the information we required and arranged a trip for us to Essaouira. The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We felt very safe walking around the area near the riad at night. Having walked around the medina a lot during our stay I don't think I would have felt as safe if we had been north of Jemaa el fna

My friend and I stayed at the Riad for 2 nights in April and it was just perfect. Laurence was easy to communicate with before we traveled to Morocco and arranged our transport from the train station to the Riad, which waited outside of to walk us in.
Everything about the Riad is well-planned, tasteful, and functional. The room we stayed in had a blue theme and was comfortable and luxurious. The AC worked well. And the breakfast was fantastic each morning on the terrace.
Laurence even recommended, made a reservation, and organized transport to a nice dinner for the two of us.
Couldn't have asked for better hosts in Marrakech. Thanks so much.

Dan
