Our first impressions of Dar Zaynab were far from glowing, first of all the establishment isn't actually called Dar Zaynab by the locals, so as many times as you repeat it, or show your taxi driver the booking confirmation, you will not arrive at the Dar. We were dropped off outside the Mdina and then left to walk. The WiFi wasn't working neither was the home computer to commincate with anyone, incomplete instructions were left in order to access the computer, most of which were incorrect and once we had logged in, we still couldn't access any internet to which the owner replied " I do not know anything about technology". Only one of our 3 rooms had a working heater, one of the rooms smelt due to a sewage problem and on the first night only one bathroom had hot water, which then went cold after a few minutes. All of the above actually wasn't the worse of it, the worse part about our stay was that the lady who managed the house recommended us a man to help us organise our trip to the Sahara, Hassan, who did nothing but try to cheat us into handing over our money. We arranged a trip with Hassan, and then he would constantly try to alter it in order to make more commission from the stops we made. Things that had originally been included in our deal we then had to pay for once we had arrived. This went on for 3 days so much so that on our final day, driving back from Fez to Marrakesh (originally a 7h driver that took 12h) once finding out that we hadn't organised accomodation for that night, Hassan was none stop on the phone whilst driving, stopping every 30mins to organise rooms for us in his contacts. It even got to the point that he was lying between the 2 cars carrying my group of friends in order to stop off at restaurants where he earn commission, saying that one car was hungry when they ever had and vice versa. The last 125km to Marrakesh took 3 and a half hours and then he dropped us off at the wrong road in Marrakesh in the dark. I understand that the owners cannot oversea everything at goes on abroad, however this was a huge disappointment and I recommend that they re-look the standard of Dar they wish to be.I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN
