Description: PEPE NERO Restaurant Marrakech : A place of flavours on motion where the senses are constantly coddled Khalid and his team represent the same soul of a single ingredient: Excellence. This where I devote myself body and soul to my passion: cooking We strive to always be precise in our gestures, attentive to the oven, skilled with knives, a sharpened sense of smell, an eye to the market, intransigent with the quality of ingredients and demanding in the kitchen. The battle I fight every day with my team is the oldest in the world:That between the hand and fire.We created the sort of restaurant we would like to find ourselves..Pepe Nero was born to engage and satisfy our passion : Taste, without any constraints or formalisms, with simplicity. But not only. We believe that there has been a generational change in customers who are rather apprehensive of locations that are over formal. With this new role we want to clear away taboos and bring haute cuisine into step with the times.

“Good but not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

We visited on our last night of 7, thinking we were saving the best til last - especially reading the other reviews.
However, we have had 5 better meals during our time here.
As described in other reviews the restaurant is hidden away, and once you walk through the small front door and get to your table there is steal wow factor.
Also the service was reasonable and attentive, and I would say the prices fair.
The disappointment was some of, but not all of, the food.
The king prawns were excellent, the salmon cake average.
The sea bass again was really good, whereas the duck was a mixed affair - 2 good, and 1 not so good.
The deserts were all lovely, but at 90 dinah a touch expensive.
Overall we enjoyed the evening, but do not think this is the second best restaurant in Marrakech.

“Excellent place to eat, compared to other places in the city, menu choice, price and service is quality.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

If your not yet tired of Tagine, these guys should be good as the quality of the meat and fish dishes we ate was excellent. Service was proficient and courteous, prices relatively reasonable £34 per head (2 courses with wine). The city can be expensive to eat tagine or overpriced to eat tagine via set menus. Here you have variety (Italian/Moroccan) and al a carte at decent prices but best quality in town so far.

Attention to detail, chef is clearly good, environs as good as they get (traditional historic tiled town house style with water features etc).

First rate, honestly go here at least once. Trip advisor rating supported 100%

“How can this be #2 restaurant in Marrakech?!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

Where to begin? Other reviews point out the slow and incompetent service and the almost panic-ridden waiters and our experience was similar. The food was average, for example the 'green tagliatelle' was white tagliatelle with sliced peppers on the side and the prawn starter with cep cream was a filo pastry filled with thick mushroom soup. The waiter got our orders wrong, including the wine, leading to additional delay and the table next to ours waited fully 30 minutes for their main course. Having decided we had had enough and would skip desert we waited fully 15 minutes for the bill to arrive during which stodgy failed attempts at petit fours were delivered that tasted uncooked. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night but this place is an overpriced waste of time if all diners get the same experience we did. Avoid.

“Wonderful place to eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We booked this restaurant before we flew to Marrakech, but it was the best decision. It can be very difficult for my parents to find a nice place to eat, as both me and my sister are fussy teenagers. But this menu had a range of everything, from the traditional dishes to basic pasta dishes, that are equally amazing.
We were given appetizers that were nice. The pudding, well, AMAZING!!!!
I had the chocolate pudding, it was beautiful, and I can't stress how pleased I was with the staff and the design of the restaurant.
