“A fantastic venue for a special meal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

We were recommended a visit to this restaurant and it was easy to reach on foot from our Riad. The food and service were fantastic and we had a wonderful meal here. A lovely dining experience in a atmospheric building: a great end to a brilliant break away!

“Fine Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Pepenero is located in a superbly restored old palace that provides dining in style - beautifully decorated rooms, linen and silver service. The building itself is decked out with ponds, fountains and flowers. Although it is large, bookings are required as it was booked out the night we ate there mid week in January. Try the Moroccan vegetables and the pigeon pie to sample some high quality Italo-Moroccan cuisine. It has a very good wine list (including Italian wines). It is well signposted from the main square - turn off at Cafe France for a 10 minute walk and follow the signs.

“A hidden treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

Amazing place, though if it wasn't signposted you'd never find it! Fortunately we were staying in the Riad Aguerzame, just round the corner. We were given a choice of menus, either Italian, or Moroccan. We chose the Moroccan, but as we browsed and picked, we were kindly informed by our waiter that the food servings in each course would be very large, and therefore advised us to share each course. How right he was!!! The food was amazing. We started with the Moroccan salad, followed by the pigeon pie, and finally by the Lamb dish (not the tagine one). Each dish was a meal in itself, and I can only advise you choose two courses, and share each one (that's it there's two of you). Oh, and on another note..... when you leave, and if you get told the path to the main square is closed, due to the Mosque....... IGNORE THEM,, they will lead you though some back street alley, in exchange for a few dirhams. When all along the main path is never closed!!!

“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Stumbled on this restaurant last night and just had to share our experience.

Once you leave the main square you take the first on the right past the cafe France and follow the signs. No problem at all although you do cover a bit of ground.

The food and service were impeccable and the prices although expensive for Morroco were very reasonable for the quality of the food.

I can only comment on the Morrocan menu but there is an Italian one if that floats your boat.

After our wonderful starters we had 2 tagines. We were going to both get chicken but the waiter politely advised us to get one chicken and one shoulder of lamb (he told us if we didn't like it he would replace it, great service).

We both agreed this was the finest lamb we had ever tasted and told the waiter who seemed pleased.

I can't recommend this place highly enough and it was without a shadow of a doubt the highlight of our culinary visit to Marrakech.

“Welcoming, wonderful surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Despite having problems with young men telling us that the restaurant was closed, we continued on to the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Staff were attentive and helpful. Very good value for money. We celebrated my husbands birthday here a few nights after, we also visited the restaurant twice more on our recent visit to Marrakech. All in all a lovely place to eat. All thanks to our escort Abdel who collected us from our hotel and returned us safely late at night, a true gentleman who was paid handsomely for his efforts.
