“Great Hospitality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

Patrice is without doubt the most terrific and caring host. Even though he only committed to introducing us to the souk once, he did it twice and spent quite a few hours doing it. Every morning he gave us advice on what to do and see, while serving us a delicious breakfast.
The rooms are decorated with traditional Morocco furnishings, but unfortunately our bath is not very clean. There was a patch of dark dirt in the shower pan on our first night. The staff tried to clean it but the entire bath really needed a good scrubbing. Also the shower does not drain well. I had to turn the water on and off the water for fear of flooding the bath. Maybe all old houses are like that. But it is the one negative about my experience.
All in all, I think the price and the host makes this riad a good value.

We are a group of 6 self-guided travelers to Morocco. Dar Tiflet provided a home, secure and warm, for us and made the Marrakech 4 day stay one of my most memorable and wonderful travel experiences.

Dar Tiflet is a cozy and traditional Morocco house, conveniently located withinn 5 minutes walking distance to the square, souk and historical sites; however, it is just an enough distance to keep away from the medina noise and in a quiet, safe residential section.

From the first contact with the owner, Patrice, I knew that we would be in good hands. Patrice made sure that in all aspects we were well taken care of, such as picking up us at the train station, helping us oriented with the medina and souk, and guiding us through the 'do and not do' to make sure that we would be safe.

Patrice's geneuous concern of our safety really moved us. We booked a safari trip with a local touring company in advance before leaving home. After discussing our travel plan with him, Patrice quietly checked the reputation of the touring company, called the company and made them aware that he watched over.

Dar Tiflet was our home in Marrakech and Patrice became our dear friend after the stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Riad dar Tiflet in March 2013. I selected the place due to all the amazing reviews, and I was not disappointed. What a wonderful place. Getting there was easy as we were picked up from the airport by a taxi. We stayed in the yellow room (it’s very very yellow). Marc was a wonderul host, answered all our questions, was always around to help us out, gave us a tour of the local area on our first day, and even helped my boyfriend organise a surprise birthday celebration for me (candles, moroccan sweets, a small gift and even a bottle of champagne). My boyfriend couldn’t have done it without the help of Marc! We also loved the roof terrace, the authentic décor, and the cats!

I absolutely loved our stay here. We were made to feel so important and were taken care of perfectly, without any intrusion on our privacy. Lovely place, great location, lovely hosts! Would stay again if in Marrakesh again.

Its hard to improve on what has already been said about this lovely riad and one of its owners, marc.(We didnt get to meet patrice, who was in france)Marc obviously loves marrakech and this is evident in the way he makes the experience so enjoyable for his guests.Nothing was too much trouble and he answered our many questions with commendable patience! All i can say about Riad dar tiflet and Marrakech is go there and you will have a fabulous experience!Thank you marc, from the kleptomaniac and patrice 2.x

Room Tip: the yellow room has windows that face outside rather than inwards to the courtyard, hence more light...

Dar Tiflet was a perfect place for our first few days in Morocco and Marc's hospitality, advice and support was key to helping us feel relaxed and confident with our children in such an amazing, vibrant city. The riad itself is filled with beautiful decorative tiling, plasterwork, wrought iron and lanterns, much of it original. Spending time on the roof terrace was amazing - especially when surrounded by the call to prayer from minarets on every side! We could also hear and smell the stalls in Jmaa el Fnaa from the roof terrace, and at night see the little helicopter toys being launched into the air with their blue lights. It was a perfect place to retreat a little from the mayhem of the medina, yet still be able to absorb the sights, sounds and smells. Thoroughly recommended.

What a fantastic holiday! Thanks to previous reviews we booked our family of 4 into the riad for March and so glad we did. On arrival at the airport the Taxi was waiting for us and drove us close the the riad to meet Marc, he then guided us back to the riad on foot (no access for cars the time we arrived). I would recommend anyone flying in to take Marc up on this offer as its quite daunting when you first arrive and not the easiest of places to navigate on your own with luggage. Marc and Patrice were fantastic hosts giving us great advice and going out of their way to help us where they could. We saw Marc every morning during breakfast and then he would take us out to show us the areas to visit (and those to avoid!), advising us of the best places to eat and generally being a local tour guide. Once we got our bearings he left us to get on with our own exploration. We opted for breakfast most mornings on the roof terrace before heading out for the day. I cannot stress enough how helpful Marc & Patrice were! I’m sure our holiday wouldn’t have been half as good if we had stayed else were, I would say look beyond what rooms/ bathrooms look like (they are actually very authentically decorated and the beds are excellent) and book yourself in for the overall package you get.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Riad Dar Tiflet is a smart authentic Riad in the heart of the old medina. We chose to let the house as it was decorated by the former berberian families, with a lot of old ceramics on the walls (zelliges) and furniture hand-made in medina. All commodities are at international standards, 5 bathrooms for 4 bedrooms, with WIFI connection... Our terrace is much appreciated by his panoramic view and his 3 independant parts. ... more   less
