“Amongst the busy streets of Marrakech, theres 'A Peaceful Paradise'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This is my first Trip Advisor review. After my stay at Riad Rafaele I couldnt go past sharing our amazing experience and giving my recommendation for this Riad in Marrakech.

When my cousin and I decided to visit Marrakech, we had no idea how important it would be to choose the right place to stay. We did some research and read up on reviews. We wanted something very central, but were on a bit of a budget so couldn't afford to go crazy.

Riad Rafaele blew my expectations out of the water!!!!!

We are two blonde Australian girls so were expecting to feel a little uncomfortable in the streets and around the markets.
Didier, Hakim & Isham gave us great advise on how to survive as a tourist by instructing what not to eat and drink, how to shop and interact with the locals, who NOT to talk to and also taught us about the different culture and way of life.
They looked after us like we were good friends. They booked us camel rides with a great company and walked us to where the bus stop was.
Hakim took us to a genuine leather stall (many are not, so be careful when buying) and made sure we got a good price for what we were buying.
No question was too silly. They were always there for us but never invasive of our space.

The surroundings of the Riad are just beautiful. There is a rooftop terrace where you can lay on deck chairs and sip on tea and a beautiful shaded lower terrace with a pool. We also had a hammam and massage for a very good price. Our room was lovely and the decor throughout the entire hotel is stunning, classic Moroccan ornaments, red and amber carpets and water features - so much better then staying in a budget hotel.

I absolutely adore this place and couldn't wait to give it a great review.. do yourself a favour and book right in the centre of the Medina at Riad Rafaele - I'm sure you will love it too.

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Rafaele. It is a peaceful haven amongst all the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Didier, Hakim and their team were very welcoming and very helpful in advising us during our stay. Didier organised airport transfers for us which was really helpful. We had a really memorable visit and am keen to return.

I wish we were still at Riad Rafaele. All the reviews we had read were spot on. Without repeating what all other reviews have said we just want to say a very big thank you to everyone at the Riad who made our stay memorable, including the cat! Accommodation, food, breakfast, and hospitality was really good. Brilliant surroundings to make you relax and enjoy the peace of the Riad. We were made to feel as though we could treat the Riad as our home. Nothing was too much trouble, and the directions to where we wanted to visit were excellent. I could go on but I will finish by saying that we are definitely returning to Riad Rafaele. xxx to all at the Riad.

Room Tip: Didn't try the massage but will do so next time we go.

My husband and I stayed at Riad Rafaele with our 9 month old daughter for 5 days in May 2014. It was an absolute Oasis of calm in the centre of Marrakech. We arranged for airport transfers which were very smooth and something I'd highly recommend as I imagine it would be quite difficult to find on your own. The entrance through a little tunnel to the most amazing door was fantastic.

I had arranged with Didier to have a three course dinner waiting for us when we arrived to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday was brilliant. I'd highly recommend this. It was our best meal both food and setting wise of our trip.

Hakim, gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and offered us a drink and home made biscuits which was a lovely touch while we checked in.

Didier, arranged a tour of Marrakech and a day trip to the Atlas Mountains for us which took the stress out of arranging it. We visited a Berber village which was absolutely fantastic.

All members of staff made us feel exceptionally welcome especially our baby daughter which I was a little nervous about. I found Marrakech very baby friendly and easy to navigate with a buggy.

Didier and his partner have put in an enormous amount to work into restoring the Riad with care and sympathetically in the traditional Moroccan style. It is honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed. I highly recommend the Raphaele Suite.

I booked on Booking.com but recommend you book direct as it's more reasonable and that way booking.com don't take their extortionate fees. (I didnt realise this before I booked).

Overall, a brilliant experience. I can't recommend this place enough.

I hated Marrakech. It was dirty, the food was crap, the men were pervy and there wasn't all that much to do. Thank goodness for Riad Rafeal which offered an amazing tranquil escape. So if you have your heart set on going to Marrakech, stay here to keep your sanity. Oh, and make sure you take good earplugs unless you want to get up for the 5am call to prayer.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

We booked for one week 10th to 17th May at Riad Rafaele but just 5 days before we flew to Marrakech my husband got notice of a business meeting that he had to attend on the 12th May. We were faced with the dilemma do we give up the first 3 days of our holiday and both fly to Marrakech on 13th May or do I fly out on 10th and stay in Marrakech on my own and my husband join me on 13th. I was unsure whether it was a good idea for a female on her own to be staying in the centre of the Medina so I contacted the owners of the Riad by email for advice. Within 30 mins Didier had responded to my email and put my mind completely at rest. He said it would be fine for me to come alone as he would be there to take care of me and could organise any guides or trips I wanted to do and also could organise a taxi to collect me from the airport.

The taxi company was one used regularly by the Riad and the driver was very professional delivering me personally to the door or the Riad. The moment I set foot in Riad Rafaele I felt completely at home and relaxed. Didier (one of the owners) gave me a very warm welcome and had given me a fantastic room opening on to the beautiful courtyard, facing his apartment and next to the office that is manned 24 hours. Any concerns I had about staying alone disappeared instantly and within 15 minutes I felt like I was staying with true friends. Didier is a fantastic host and nothing is too much trouble. During the time I was alone I had an excellent manicure and pedicure in the Riad and had a personal tour round the Medina with an English speaking guide that Didier organised. As we had to try to pack 7 days in to 4 when my husband arrived Didier advised us about the best trips to take and organised a personal driver for us (much better than being on a tour bus).

I booked this accommodation based on the Trip Advisor reviews and am so glad I did. It is first class in every way. All the staff are excellent, very hard working and attentive. They are all so pleasant, nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile on their faces. The food at the Riad is also excellent, a massive breakfast (included in the price) and good restaurant standard evening meal that you could order 1 day ahead. We ate out one night but it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the Riad so ate at the Riad for all our other evening meals.

It is difficult to put in to words how wonderfully special this place is. It is so tranquil and is a true Paradise. We intend to return to Riad Rafaele later in the year to take a trip into the desert, which Didier is going to arrange for us. We feel like we are returning to stay with true friends rather than to a hotel. If you want to experience Paradise stay here.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter which you choose they all good..
