“Wonderful service and excellent taste”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We came here as one of our last restaurants during our stay in Marrakech and we were exceptionally thankful that we did. The food was to an excellent standard, the wine list was well chosen and the service - by the owner no less - was superb. A wonderful, quiet atmosphere which brings some sophistication to the excitable hubbub of the rest of the city.

“Excellent food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Following the good reviews for this restaurant, I went there with a couple of friends and we all enjoyed it. The food was pretty straight forward and simple. Everything was fresh with lots of flavours. Being keen on Asian food, we ordered pork & crab spring rolls, seabream tartar and also Prawn and calamari cooked in a Wok ... We all loved it and made sure to clean our plates! It was definitely a good one.
Do not miss.

“Don't bother.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013 via mobile

If you are so sick of Marrakech and or Marroccan food then get a flight home or go for a pizza. Amaia tries to fuse Thai with international cuisine and fails miserably on both counts. The spring rolls were dripping oil, the Wok dishes should have stayed in the wok (permanently) and well... the Phuket Salad read a book about Thailand and guessed the rest. You get the gist.. It's not good, but it is cheap. So as they say in Thailand "up to you"

There is a reason that none of the hotels or taxi drivers know where it is.

Dear Artalus,

You take as a basis the assumption that we can be "so sick of Marrakech and or Moroccan food".
Fortunately, many people come to discover or rediscover this beautiful city and its culture, without evidence of snobbery.

At Amaia, we make no attempt to fuse cuisine.
We "borrow" considered interesting recipes from local people, to be more as accurate as possible to traditional dishes.
Then, it is with all our professionalism that we recreate them for the delight of our customers.

Today we are recommended by 89% of visitors on TA with 278 comments. For the third consecutive year, we have just received the Award of Excellence, which is awarded only 10% of restaurants.
Do you think we could get such a result if our food was as bad as you say ?
However, what is amazing is that you and your partner have finished all the dishes conscientiously despite your harsh criticisms and innuendoes.

Finally, I inform you that the hotel clerks and taxi drivers remember much easier the addresses of restaurants which they receive a commission from ...
That is why Amaia seemed so inexpensive to you !
The entire staff agrees with me to advise you to choose in the future a restaurant closer to your big means.

“Good food and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

We were looking for something as a change from tagines, brochettes and salads so checked out trip advisor. The Amaia restaurant looked right so we jumped in a cab. When we got there at 8pm on a Tuesday night we were the only customers but we were soon chatting with the restauraunteur. We started with goats cheese and vegetables in filo and briouettes the morrocan equivalent of samosas. The goats cheese was very good. Onto mains of salmon in soy sauce and honey with vegetables and a superb stir fry of chicken in a yellow curry and coconut sauce with basmati rice. Nothing very Morrocan but an eclectic menu of beautifully cooked food. Friendly but does lack atmosphere. Very good value for money.
