“Location, People and Environment Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

This Riad even being back in our own home, feels like home away from home. My wife and I truly loved everything about it, from the Staff, namely Mohammed who was a great joy always very helpful with a smile on his face. He was ever so helpful in getting us into the Riad once we arrived, and always was at hand for any questions in the evening.

Amin, the Manager was great, he provided us with an upgrade at no cost with petals all around the room. He was very prompt with his emails as well as providing with a warm welcome when we arrived, mint tea and buscuits. It was sad to leave this Riyad given we spent a great time here, and the location was very close to the Roads, that it was not difficult to find from being dropped off. For us it was good that the Riad was not too close to the Djma el Fna as having stayed in Marakech before, I knew how noisy and difficult it is to get in and out from you Ryad.

Taxis only cost 20-30dhms to and from your Riad and thus it is very little price to pay for quiteness and tranquility which you would definitely get at this Riad. A sevice with a smile as I remember this fondly.

We were also given a place to watch the Champions League Final too, all in English as well, this was truly service with a capital S.

I would definitely recommend this Riad, which is like a 5*hotel, it is very new and feels so homely.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, and you can advise what the occassion is, so the Riad can accomodate.

“Big positives, some negatives we think/hope can be changed....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

The Ryad is beautiful! No doubt about that, - amazingly decorated! At the point we booked, it was definitely an incredible deal for the price! It is clean, beautiful, very friendly staff and they help. It is an amazing oasis away from the busy, dirty Marrakech. Bathrooms are amazing with robes and argan oil shampoo, massage oil etc.

However a few negatives which unfortunately made our stay a bit more unenjoyable:

It was impossible to find! And not just because it is located in a Medina because the locals we asked didn't even know where it was. This could be because it is somewhat new, but what made it even more impossible was the fact that their phone didn't work! We spent an hour and a half finding the place. We told them their phone didn't work but three days later some Spanish people, who stayed there to, were waiting for 45 mins for a local tour guide who couldn't find the place nor call the place for help!

Also; the area it's located was not the nicest. Far walk to centre medina and the area is not that visited by foreigners. We got much attention and were offered hash just outside the door. This is obviously not the riad's fault but made us a bit uncomfortable. But when you are inside it is heavenly.

A third thing; They do have alcohol which is nice and RARE in the medina but charge 60 dirhams for it. That is more than we spent at a very fancy restaurant in the new town. They certainly made their money this way.

With that said, we did overall enjoy our stay and believe that some of our negatives cold be changed. For the price it is definitely worth it!

Room Tip: The rooms Diamond and Perle (I think they are called) are located so there is windows to the street...

“Stylish, welcoming and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

We had a wonderful stay at Ryad Amiran. We booked it late and never having stayed in a Ryad before, didn't quite know what to expect. My friend who is a personal travel adviser, suggested it, (Denise Barcessat [--]). We were looking for an early spring, warm climate, short break with a culture hit. Marrakech has all of this. It is only 3 hours flight from Gatwick and a short ride from the airport to the Ryad. We caught a taxi from the airport and the driver was very helpful. He had to park at a gate in the wall that surrounds the old city (Medina). He carried our bags along narrow streets,(not wide enough for a car) where local people were in groups talking and children playing. It was a moon lit night and it felt surreal. After a few twists and turns we arrived at this big wooden door. We rang and were greeted by Amin, the manager. As the door opened the smell of incense burning, the light of candles flickering and the stylish interior was amazing. It was like stepping into another world. Amin made us welcome, introduced us to the other staff, gave us mint tea and showed us to our very comfortable room. Through out stay there we were given lots of advice on where to go and what to do. It was wonderful. Quality

“Beautiful Ryad in an incredible city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012 via mobile

This Ryad was absolutely fantastic.I have nothing bad to say about it!It was spotlessly clean and our room was cleaned and we were given fresh towels every day. The staff were wonderful and always smiling and they managed to arrange for us to go camel riding and to a spa one day.

The food in the ryad is phenomenal.Breakfast will last you all the way til lunch and dinner is served whenever you like and you can even request certain things if you wish.

The only negative thing about the ryad is that it is about a 20 minute walk from the main square. While this wasnt a problem for us, people with young kids/older people may prefer taking a taxi to the nearest gate rather than walking back through the maze of the Medina.Saying this,I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it!

“Calm amongst the chaos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012

I stayed at this Ryad for 4 nights with my two friends in February. It was our first time staying in a Ryad and having looked at hundreds before finally booking this one we definitely made the right choice. We emailed in advance to arrange a transfer from the airport (150 dihram each way) and quickly found the driver and were on our way. This saved us the hassle of haggling with a taxi driver outside the airport and also meant that we were escorted right to the door of the Ryad. The Ryad is sign posted from the nearest gate to it but if you don't get dropped at this gate you'll never find it in the maze of streets! We were greeted by Amin the manager who gave us refreshing towels, mint tea and some cakes to refresh us after our journey which was instantly relaxing. After going through the usual admin stuff he gave us a map and showed us where we were and gave us a few tips to start us off. He then took us on a small tour of the Ryad and showed us to our room where our cases were waiting.
The Ryad is absolutely beautiful, the design is traditional but all the fittings are modern with comfy seats downstairs where you can eat breakfast, a tv room and dining room. The first floor has the 5 rooms on it and upstairs is a rooftop terrace. You can have you breakfast there if you wish (I would imagine this would be lovely in the summer, but in February it was still slightly too chilly in the morning!). The whole ryad has a lovely ambiance and just feels relaxing and luxurious. It's spotlessly clean and very well maintained, there is nothing you could find fault with.
Our room was also beautiful and clean. My bed was very comfortable and I slept very well every night. The room was cleaned every day and we had fresh towels every day. The shower was huge and the toiletries in the room were a delight, they smelt gorgeous! They also had a proper hairdryer in the room not one of those awful box ones stuck on the wall!
The Ryad is about a 20 minute walk away from the Jemaa El Fna Square and Souks but there is a taxi rank about a 3 minute walk away should you not want to walk. We found some of the surrounding streets a little intimidating, especially after dark, but Amin had warned us of this as we were 3 female travellers and we didn't feel it was dangerous as such, just uncomfortable with some of the comments that got made. For this reason we were usually back in the Ryad by 10pm but it was nice just to sit inside and relax after a day in the chaos of the Medina!
I would definitely recommend you eat in the Ryad, we did twice as the food was absolutely delicious. Fatima cooks all the food and will do you a beautiful three course meal for whatever time you want it served at. We had a chicken tagine one night and a beef tagine another and both were incredible. We ate in the dining room where you're served your food and then they shut the doors so you can eat in private away from the rest of the Ryad. We spent two very enjoyable evenings having long dinners in the Ryad! Breakfast is also good. Served at whatever time you get up, you get homemade yogurt, fresh orange juice, tea or coffee, a type of omlette, a sort of pancake or crumpet type thing depending on the day, bread, chocolate croissant and jam, marmalade and honey. It'll certainly fuel you for the day ahead!
The Ryad doesn't have many staff but they all work incredibly hard and you get the impression that nothing is too much of a hassle. Amin was avaliable to give tips, directions and book things such as a morning camel trek and afternoon spa visit. He speaks excellent english and seems to care that his guests are enjoying themselves. Fatima, as previously mentioned cooks wonderful food and Mohammed the porter is always about to let you in and despite the fact that he seems to always be in the Ryad is always cheerful. He walked us down to the main taxi rank on our first night to make sure we didn't get lost which was much appreciated and even showed us how to fold our napkins in to flowers at dinner one night!
We had a lovely stay at this Ryad and should I return to Marrakech I would definitely want to stay here again. I can't recommend it enough!
