“The place to stay in Marrakech!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

No wonder Riad Badi is #1 on trip advisor - it's a well deserved spot! Booked a 3 night stay for a surprise birthday gift for my husband, and I am so pleased I chose Riad Badi for our first experience in Marrakech. Christian and Isabelle are the kindest most helpful people and this was evident to me from the moment I sent an email to inquire about availability. They and the 2 ladies that help at the riad looked after us above and beyond what we expected, having the perfect blend of being entirely approachable and friendly without at all being intrusive. They even surprised my hubby at breakfast the day of his birthday even though I had only mentioned it in passing when booking. Our room was lovely and the massive bed provided very comfortable sleep after a busy day exploring the city. We loved Marrakech and if we return we will definitely stay at Riad Badi, and I'd recommend anyone to do the same. Perfect location and perfect hosts. Thank you Isabelle and Christian! Oh, and try dinner at the riad - delicious! :)

We had a 1st floor corner room on the south side, this had 2 single beds as we requested. The room was spacious and very quiet, clean and peaceful. Christian and Isabella the French owners were extremely kind and great hosts and could not have been more helpful, Christian took us out in the Medina on our first morning and made sure that we were able to find our way back. He also gave us very good advice on where to eat and what to avoid. We hope to go back in late autumn. We would not hesitate to recommend Riad Badi to anyone, we are in our early seventies.

It feels good to know you enjoyed your stay with us.
Lily of the valley grew up in last 10 Days and now is in bloom and the smell is nice in the atrium.
We will be glad to see you again in autumn with the sun of Marrakech.
Thank you again and take care.

Thanks very much Isabelle and Christian and your two wonderful ladies for making us so welcome. We had an amazing time; the food was wonderful and Christian's guided walk around the main square proved invaluable. You truly deserve to be Number 1. Anne and Robin

Marrakesh was my first city in Morocco and I was a little anxious about staying in the Medina. On arrival at Riad Badi all my concerns disappeared as Christian and Isabelle made us very welcome into their lovely Riad. Our room was very comfortable and lovely with red rose petals sprinkled on the bed !! After a mint tea and check in , Christian walked us through the Medina so that we could get our bearings. This was invaluable as we were then able to find our own way around the narrow ,un signposted streets. When a couple of days later i booked in for a Moroccan Hammam - Christian walked with me to show me the direction. The bed and the bathroom was lovely and new with crisp white sheets. the Riad is just near the wall of the Medina and is very quiet with a lovely roof garden with a small pool

Room Tip: Get Christian to met you near the gate to guide you to the Riad

Thank you for sharing your experience at Riad Badi.
It was your first time at Marrakesh and you were a little anxious about staying in the Medina... as everything is so different from Perth in Australia.
We know it and it's a reason why we guide our guests on arrival by some explanations, some advices and a tour in the Medina and we try to share our Moroccan experience during their stay.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay in Marrakech
Hope to see you again.
Kind regards

As most other reviews have said many times over, a lovely place to stay - made better by the owners Isabelle and Christian's help and guidance - an oasis in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech- thankyou.

Thank you Jean and Simon for posting your nice review. We are glad to have met you and to have helped you on your arrival. You enjoyed especially our quiet house in the hustle and bustle of the Medina and our services. We hope you have spent in nice time in Essouira for the second part of your stay.... Of course quieter and more peaceful.
You both take care and kind regards.

We spent 3 nights in the Riad on an all-girls trip. We chose the Riad as it was ranked number 1 in tripadvisor, and we must say it's a well-deserved place. The centrally located Riad is very clean, and well maintained. Towels were changed everyday. Breakfast varied every morning. We did not get the chance to try having dinner in the Riad... but that gives us one good reason to come back!

Owners Christian & Isabelle are excellent hosts, from the very first email enquiry I send until some last minute questions I had. No questions unanswered and they gave valuable tips and recommendations on places to visit, buying at the souk and travelling around. We loved everything, the charming rooms are full of character. Indeed a peaceful and relaxing refuge from the chaos of the medina.

Definitely a place we will come back to! Thank you again, Christian and Isabelle for the warm hospitality in your Riad. Wishing you the very best of everything! :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the Safran Suite and very happy with it. It's vey spacious and comfortable. We lo...

We recently spent 4 nights at Riad Badi based on the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. Every review is true and it is difficult to add anything to what has been said many times before.

Staying with Christian and Isabelle was like staying in their home (they live at the Riad) and they made us feel very welcome. On arrival we were given mint tea and biscuits and Isabelle showed us a map with points of interest. Christian then spent over an hour taking us on a walking tour of the area and the souks to help us get our bearings. This was invaluable with lots of useful tips and recommendations, even though we still managed to get ourselves lost in the souks on several occasions.

The first evening we ate at Riad Badi and this was an excellent 3 course Moroccan style meal prepared and cooked by Isabelle and her team. We ate there again on the third night. This too was excellent and different to the first night.

Breakfast was varied every day and Isabelle spent time explaining what the various breads, cakes, pancakes, yoghurt, jams and fruit were. They were served by the 3 very polite and friendly local women who work with Isabelle and Christian at the Riad. On our last day, without any prompting Isabelle had put a candle in the cake, served with breakfast, and they all sang happy birthday to my husband! A lovely touch.

Riad Badi is down a quiet street but only a few minutes walk to the Medina and Souks. The Bahia Palace, Maison de la Photographie, Medersa Ben Youssef and Museum of Marrakech are all within walking distance. The Badi Palace is even closer to the Riad, being almost a stones throw away and definitely worth a visit, despite it being derelict. It’s worth going on the hop on, hop off open topped tourist bus which takes you further afield. The bus stop is very close to the Riad. This tour enables you to visit the Menara and Majorelle gardens and also the Palmeraie area.

Marrakech is a crazy place that stimulates all the senses, but the Riad itself is a lovely, tranquil place to come back to at the end of the day. It has been lovingly furnished and is very comfortable and welcoming. We had the Cannelle Room plus ensuite, with a huge shower area. The room was fitted with an air-conditioning unit which would be welcome in the summer and is used to heat the room in the winter. Free, fast Wi-Fi is available for the clients. Unfortunately we didn’t use the roof terrace but this would be lovely in the warmer days and evenings.

We sampled the food at 3 restaurants close to the Riad and these were all very good. On our last night we went to the MK Restaurant and had their 5 course gourmet meal which was excellent. It is expensive but definitely worth it for a special occasion. You do need to book and it’s worth finding it in the daylight before you go as it is difficult to find.

Should any of our friends or family consider going to Marrakech in the future we would definitely recommend staying at Riad Badi with Isabelle and Christian as they made wonderful hosts. It really felt as if we were staying with friends and it was sad to leave.

Room Tip: For what we could see all the rooms looked lovely. The whole of the Riad is a non-smoking area exce...

Thank you for writting such a very nice and complete review with lots of details.
You wrote that it was difficult to add anything to what has been said many times before but for us it's difficult to do a response for the review.
But when we read your review we're glad you enjoyed our riad and we know we have reached our goal: we try every day to receive our guests like we would like to be received in a guesthouse.
We help our guests to visit Marrakech by some explanations at the arrival and by a walk nearby the riad. We think it's important to feel well in the new and different environment. And we are delighted to share our Moroccan experience to our guests who have never come in Marrakech and Morocco to avoid some tourist traps
All the team works hard every day to offer an adapted and high level of services. We also try to make you discover typical food and new flavors.
Thank you for recommending to your friends or family or potential guests Riad Badi.
Take care.
