“5-star quality and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We spent 3 nights in the Riad on an all-girls trip. We chose the Riad as it was ranked number 1 in tripadvisor, and we must say it's a well-deserved place. The centrally located Riad is very clean, and well maintained. Towels were changed everyday. Breakfast varied every morning. We did not get the chance to try having dinner in the Riad... but that gives us one good reason to come back!

Owners Christian & Isabelle are excellent hosts, from the very first email enquiry I send until some last minute questions I had. No questions unanswered and they gave valuable tips and recommendations on places to visit, buying at the souk and travelling around. We loved everything, the charming rooms are full of character. Indeed a peaceful and relaxing refuge from the chaos of the medina.

Definitely a place we will come back to! Thank you again, Christian and Isabelle for the warm hospitality in your Riad. Wishing you the very best of everything! :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the Safran Suite and very happy with it. It's vey spacious and comfortable. We lo...

We recently spent 4 nights at Riad Badi based on the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. Every review is true and it is difficult to add anything to what has been said many times before.

Staying with Christian and Isabelle was like staying in their home (they live at the Riad) and they made us feel very welcome. On arrival we were given mint tea and biscuits and Isabelle showed us a map with points of interest. Christian then spent over an hour taking us on a walking tour of the area and the souks to help us get our bearings. This was invaluable with lots of useful tips and recommendations, even though we still managed to get ourselves lost in the souks on several occasions.

The first evening we ate at Riad Badi and this was an excellent 3 course Moroccan style meal prepared and cooked by Isabelle and her team. We ate there again on the third night. This too was excellent and different to the first night.

Breakfast was varied every day and Isabelle spent time explaining what the various breads, cakes, pancakes, yoghurt, jams and fruit were. They were served by the 3 very polite and friendly local women who work with Isabelle and Christian at the Riad. On our last day, without any prompting Isabelle had put a candle in the cake, served with breakfast, and they all sang happy birthday to my husband! A lovely touch.

Riad Badi is down a quiet street but only a few minutes walk to the Medina and Souks. The Bahia Palace, Maison de la Photographie, Medersa Ben Youssef and Museum of Marrakech are all within walking distance. The Badi Palace is even closer to the Riad, being almost a stones throw away and definitely worth a visit, despite it being derelict. It’s worth going on the hop on, hop off open topped tourist bus which takes you further afield. The bus stop is very close to the Riad. This tour enables you to visit the Menara and Majorelle gardens and also the Palmeraie area.

Marrakech is a crazy place that stimulates all the senses, but the Riad itself is a lovely, tranquil place to come back to at the end of the day. It has been lovingly furnished and is very comfortable and welcoming. We had the Cannelle Room plus ensuite, with a huge shower area. The room was fitted with an air-conditioning unit which would be welcome in the summer and is used to heat the room in the winter. Free, fast Wi-Fi is available for the clients. Unfortunately we didn’t use the roof terrace but this would be lovely in the warmer days and evenings.

We sampled the food at 3 restaurants close to the Riad and these were all very good. On our last night we went to the MK Restaurant and had their 5 course gourmet meal which was excellent. It is expensive but definitely worth it for a special occasion. You do need to book and it’s worth finding it in the daylight before you go as it is difficult to find.

Should any of our friends or family consider going to Marrakech in the future we would definitely recommend staying at Riad Badi with Isabelle and Christian as they made wonderful hosts. It really felt as if we were staying with friends and it was sad to leave.

Room Tip: For what we could see all the rooms looked lovely. The whole of the Riad is a non-smoking area exce...

Thank you for writting such a very nice and complete review with lots of details.
You wrote that it was difficult to add anything to what has been said many times before but for us it's difficult to do a response for the review.
But when we read your review we're glad you enjoyed our riad and we know we have reached our goal: we try every day to receive our guests like we would like to be received in a guesthouse.
We help our guests to visit Marrakech by some explanations at the arrival and by a walk nearby the riad. We think it's important to feel well in the new and different environment. And we are delighted to share our Moroccan experience to our guests who have never come in Marrakech and Morocco to avoid some tourist traps
All the team works hard every day to offer an adapted and high level of services. We also try to make you discover typical food and new flavors.
Thank you for recommending to your friends or family or potential guests Riad Badi.
Take care.

There are so many riads to choose from in Marrakech that it can be overwhelming. Looking at the trip advisor ratings before we chose, this one almost seemed too good to be true but in fact the universally high ratings were entirely justified. Nicely located an interesting few minutes walk from Jemaa el-Fna, the room we stayed in (hibiscus) was really nice, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfasts were delicious and filling, with varied home-made produce each morning, and the courtyard was a lovely place to eat. Best of all were the hosts, Isabelle and Christian. We were welcomed with mint tea and an almond and honey sweet, and after settling in Christian took us for an unhurried walk around the centre of the old town. They were both helpful and friendly and nothing was ever too much for them. On the day we left, they'd got up at 5am to make breakfast for a guest who had an early flight! If you a planning a trip to Marrakech - which is a great city to visit - this is surely the best place to stay.

As most others, we stayed here on good Trip Advisor ratings and the recommendations couldn't have been more justified. Isabelle and Christian made us feel so at home and supported in what can be a very chaotic city. The Riad was an oasis of calm, comfort and delicious food. We were there to do the half marathon, and they prepared us special meals before and after the race. The meals we had there were the best we had and we ate in some pretty nice restaurants (including Pepe Nero). Particular highlights of the Riad for us were: watching the storks on the Badi Palace walls from the terrace, the delicious breakfast every morning which set us up for days exploring, evenings relaxing with a beer/sweet mint tea in the various sitting rooms, the rose petals in the beautiful room, and the excellent guidance from two kind hosts.

Room Tip: We were in the Turquoise Room - apparently it's the smallest room, but we stayed there because i...

We stayed 2 nights at Riad Badi in Marrakech. Isabelle and Christian were welcoming, friendly and very helpful hosts. The riad is a tranquil oasis in a chaotic city, yet situated close enough so you can easily walk to all the main sites. Our room (Cannelle) was lovely, well appointed, well lit, spotless, great bed and linens, and had a great bathroom with super towels and bath products. Breakfasts were delicious and homemade, including moroccan specialities. As soon as we arrived, Christian sat down with us to go over the map, sites, shopping tips, do's and dont's of marrakech etiquette, all of which were practical and extremely helpful. We would highly recommend Riad Badi!

We booked Riad Badi based on the outstanding reviews on Trip Advisor. Our stay at Riad Badi far surpassed those positive ratings. We would gladly give owners Christian and Isabelle 6 stars!

It's hard to add much to the many perfect ratings by other guests because the high marks written about this Riad are completely accurate and true.

We've stayed in many 5-star hotels, but the personalized service and attention is far above anything that you'll find in a larger hotel. Upon arrival, Christian kindly took us out to the ATM machine, guided us to Janaa el fna Square, and pointed out several restaurants at different price points. The next morning Christian accompanied us again to point out the key places to visit in the medina (Badi Palace, Bahia Palace, Museum of Marrakech, the Madrasa, and the Museum of Photography) and guided us through the Souk. Each day Isabelle spent time to explain our breakfast dishes, which change daily. And you should definitely try dinner in the Riad--it was the best food that we had in Marrakech!

In addition to the individualized service, Christian and Isabelle offer a unique perspective on daily life in Morocco from their own experiences as French expats. Their insights to the culture and habits of Marrakech, everything from where to buy crafts and how to bargain, make staying in Riad Badi something more special than just spending a few nights in a hotel.

Lastly the Riad itself is worth its own 5-star rating. This is a wonderfully restored Riad, immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated with local crafts. We were so delighted with the bronze lanterns in the Cannelle Room that we tried to buy pair--speak to Christian first!

We will definitely recommend Riad Badi to our friends and relatives as well as hope to return soon ourselves. Book Riad Badi and you, too, will find it hard to write a more positive review than ours!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cannelle Room, but don't worry all the rooms are lovely.
