5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

We were welcomed into Riad Badi by Isabelle & Christian with morrocan tea and sweets which was a very nice touch. Christian gave us plenty of information on the area, he then took us into the Jemaa El Fna to show us around and most importantly how to get back to the riad, this was very important as it is very easy to get lost around the souks.
Our room was very clean and spacious. We ate breakfast on the roof terrace each morning, the breakfast was always fresh with something different each day. We had dinner in the riad one night which was very enjoyable.
Riad Badi is in a very good location and easy to find.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is truly an oasis in the wonderful madness of Marrakech. The owners Isabelle and Christian are friendly and welcoming and genuinely want their guests to enjoy their stay and get the most out of their trip to Marrakech. Thank you Isabelle and Christian.

The riad is in the southern medina, around a 5-10 minute walk into the main square. We stayed in the Hibiscus room which was beautifully decorated with a walk in waterfall shower and lovely products. The breakfasts are delicious and slightly change every day, but are always to an impeccable standard. We ate on the terrace every morning which is beautiful and peaceful; a great way to start the day.

We organised a camel ride in he Palmery which was slightly disappointing as the landscape is in fact rather dull (through waste land). We also went for a Hamamm and massage which was great, but be warned the Hamamm is rough so if you have sensitive skin make sure you tell the masseuse.

We visited all the sites in he city and also enjoyed getting (slightly!) lost in the souks which are truly an assault on the senses. Although the city is a mad place it didn't feel unsafe at all. People are friendly and will help, but remember that they're probably looking for a tip for helping you.

We ate at Le Tangier which is just a few minutes from the riad. Lovely property which is decorated in a wonderfully opulent style. The food was tasty and there is a good wine list. Dar es Salam is a great place to visit for entertainment and food. The music and dancing was fun and the food lovely. It is a tourist hotspot but worth a visit for the fabulous tiled interiors. We also visited La Trattoria in Gueliz which is a very pretty property with an atmospheric setting in the courtyard. The food was well presented but a little lacking in flavour.

Marrakech is a great place and the Riad Badi a real gem thanks to Isabelle and Christians attention to detail and hospitality. A must place to stay.

The Riad Badi is simply wonderful...why?

W - Welcoming - from the moment you step off the plane and come out of the airport a driver will be there to pick you up and take you safely to the Riad. Upon arrival at the Riad, Isabelle and Christian have the warmest genuine welcome for you which you will really appreciate after hours of travelling.

O - Open/spacious - The riad is very generous in it's space and light. The first floor consists of the breakfast/dining area, comfortable seating areas, an entertainment room, with games, books, music etc. The second floor consists of bedrooms and the third floor has a lovely roof terraced area.

N - Navigation - As you may have read from previous reviews, one of the most unique and exceptionally helpful aspects of staying here is that if you are a first time traveller to Marrakech, Christian will take you on a mini tour to help you find your bearings.

D- Design - As well as the Riad being spacious and tastefully Moroccan in design, the bedrooms are furnished in a simple, modern and luxurious way. There is real thought and attention to detail and it is so inviting to return to your room after a long day of sightseeing. Large beds, fresh, crisp linen sheets. Lovely bathroom with plentiful fluffy white towels and white bath robe. The rooms are cleaned daily by a lovely girl who regardless of the state you left it, she will leave it immaculate for you on your return!

E - Economical - Having researched numerous Riad's, this was by far the best value for money.

R- Roof terrace - On sunny days you have the pleasure of enjoying breakfast on the roof terrace or topping up your tan (beds, towels, and sun hats all there waiting!). There is a discrete toilet there too, so you don't have to go back to your bedroom.

F- Food - you will be served a hearty breakfast to get you ready for your adventures. You can also dine at the Riad in the evening if you feel like relaxing indoors.

U - Understanding - Isabelle and Christian are superb at catering for your needs, whether a bottle of water, arranging trips, taxi's, providing advice. I had a problem with the safe in my room, completely my fault, Christian fixed it within seconds and my initial panic was over!

L - Location - Perfect location south of the Medina. You will be close to Jemaa El Fna square (I recommend eating at Number one, having tried a few), good restaurants (Dar Essalam is superb) the souks are a short walk, the beautifully tranquil badi palace is literally next door to the Riad. Christian will show you where you can change your currency. You can buy lovely fresh fruit on the road to the left before crossing over, strawberries, apples etc.

Isabelle and Christian, the warmest thank you to both of you for being such fantastic hosts. Marrakech is a fabulous place to visit, but you made my trip even more special! Much love, Karen xx

Room Tip: The Cannelle room is spacious and has a window

I stayed here of the Easter weekend. The hosts were wonderful; always around, always answered the door quickly, great helping explain the city, tell me how much things should cost. Rooms are outstanding. Breakfast was great. Deck is wonderful, both covered and uncovered places to sit. Location is south of the Medina, but easy 10-15 walk up to the square. Right next to a taxi stand - I was able to get a taxi at 6:15am to the train station without waiting. A couple good restaurants within 3 min walk. All rooms are great, modern facilities, recently renovated.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, modern facilities, recently renovated.

Thank you Christian and Isabelle for going the extra mile...always with a genuine smile, a twinkle in the eye and knowledge to share. They were so helpful with dinner reservations and suggestions. Christian gave us an excellent orientation the first day taking us all around even dropping us off at the hard to find Terrace des Epices and returning for us after our lunch. We didn't have enough time to try the dinner at Riad Badi but enjoyed our breakfasts - all well described below. Each day, a different fruit and jam, though they brought my favorite, apricot, out for me each day.
Our room, the nomad room, was perfect for the 3 of us. My 11 yr old had an eye opening trip with many Wows and a few tears at seeing some of the kittys looking a bit ragged. The riad was our refuge from the hustle and bustle of busy Marrakesh. It was quiet, impeccably clean and you can tell that the owners really care. It is relatively new ( i think 1.5 yr or so) and you can tell they have not burned out, each guest is made to feel special and the owners really work to make you happy. Christian had good advice that he shared during the tour. They were non-intrusive but ready to help or offer inputs when we requested.
The rooftop was just getting ready for the warmer weather. While the other guests preferred to eat downstairs in the lovely courtyard, we ate upstairs on the roof garden complete with its citrus trees, flowers and bamboo in pots. They never hesitated to serve us upstairs, where we could enjoy the garden and view of the storks on Palace Badi.
Location was very good. The rugs in the bedroom and decor were excellent - soft, inviting, and with that Moroccan touch. Room had clean uncluttered lines with the exotic touches just right for the setting. The bathrooms are new, clean and spacious. Love the holder they use for their shampoo and soap. Cute holder for their hair dryer....clever....stay there and you will see!
Oh and upon our arrival they made it so welcoming...complete with rose petals.
Thanks again to Isabelle and Christian. Great job. Wonderful welcome with the tea and Moroccan sweets. Everyday, we were provided a bottle of water as we left the Riad too, upon request.
PS : book early for Pepe Nero restaurant nearby and others...we recommend the fusion one at the Hotel Arabia (ambience and you can have Moroccan or fusion). Avoid I Limoni

Room Tip: If you have 3 people book the Nomad room, second floor, spacious, clean, soft rugs, great bed and ni...

Thank you Christian and Isabelle for making our first trip to Marrakech an unforgetable experience! From the moment we arrived the hospitality was outstanding.

You are greeted with traditional Morrocan tea and sweets, with a full explaination of the area, where to go, what to see, recommendations of places to eat for all budgets. The Riad is beautiful and our room, very spacious, tranquile, with a Morrocan meets modern flair.

Breakfast is truly fantastic, choice of coffee/ tea, yogurt with friut/ jams and fresh pancakes/ bread. I loved the different variety every morning. We also ate there 1 night, highly recommend it.

Christian will take you around on the first day if you are unsure. The tour of the Medina really helped us get our bearings and without it I think we would have got lost many times.

We were apprehensive about staying in the Medina, but Riad Badi made the experience so easy and authentic.

Highly recommend a traditional Hamman which is 10 min on foot from the Riad

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at Riad Badi and we are already planning on returning! Isabelle and Christian are wonderful hosts and they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Their communication is first class and our initial enquiry emails were answered within minutes!

The riad is set in an excellent location very close to Badi Palace (which is well worth a visit). A 10 minute walk finds you in Jemaa el-Fnaa Square and on our first day Christian kindly guided us around the maze of souks which was invaluable! The riad is tucked away and very peaceful which we very much welcomed after the hussle and bussle of the Medina.

Riad Badi is beautiful and clean and one of our most enjoyable memories is spending the evening with Isabelle and Christian after a delicious traditional dinner. Breakfast each morning consisted of generous portions of pancakes/breads/cakes with tasty jams/honey as well as fresh fruit and yoghurt. The food was high quality and we spent a couple of mornings eating on the sun terrace whilst watching the storks that nest on the neighbouring Badi Palace walls.

We really cannot fault anything about our holiday and this was largely due to our hard working hosts. Thank you Isabelle and Christian, it was lovely to meet you and we hope to see you again soon!

Kind Regards,

Laura and Daniel Kavanagh

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cannelle room which we were very happy with.
