“Brilliant - "THE" Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

A fantastic place to stay. The Riad was spotless, comfortable and great value with a stylish morrocan feel, a good modern spacious bathroom and large bedroom . The welcome we received from Isabelle and Christian could not have been bettered and Christian's guided walk around Marrakech was superb giving us the confidence to go out into the Souks and be sure we could find our way back and not get into any trouble. The location within the Medina (old town) was great, it was easy to walk anywhere and get to all the main attractions. The haunting and exotic sounds of Marrakech were everywhere but as you entered the Riad an air of peace and tranquility washed over you. The breakfasts were delicious and you could eat in and have a home cooked morrocan meal if you wanted to, which we much enjoyed, or walk to any number of restaurants in the Jemaa el fina Square or elsewhere. Can't recommend this Riad highly enough if you want to explore Marrakech and feel looked after and part of it all this is the place to stay.

Thanks Janny for having taken your time to write the very nice review. Thanks Janny for your stay at Riad Badi.
During your stay in Morocco you have visited all the museums, have walked on the main narrow streets of the médina and have gone in the new town with the touristic bus and you have appreciated the Majorelle garden with its quiet and its numerous types of plants.
We were delighted to meet you and we know you will think about the Riad Badi when you take a tea with a dash of milk.
Thanks again.
Kind regards

This was the best place to stay, Christian and Isobell were absolutely wonderful! The Riad was spotlessly clean, the food was great, and the location was perfect to either walk, taxi, or bus to all of Marrakech. We were three women (of a "certain age") doing our "bucket list" of places we always wanted to go, and Marrakech was the top of our list. I doubt we could have found a better place to stay, with a better host and hostess. Christian and Isobell made sure we knew where to go, how to act, and how to stay out of trouble during our visit. When we would return to the Riad Christian would climb the numberous stairs to the terrace with our multiple evening bottles of wine, always with a smile and a warm welcome. Isobell made sure we were well fed, the breakfast every day was delicious, and I would recommend staying in for at least one evening meal, she is a great cook! I would rush back to stay there again, and highly recommend it to any one planning to visit Marrakech.

Room Tip: Christian and Isobell arranged the room with three beds and plenty of space, even for three women! N...

Thanks Pat for your stay at Riad Badi and for the lovely review. After five nights at Riad, the Medina has no secret for you. We spent a pleasant time with you and your friends. Your joy and your laughter we miss them already. I had prepared your favorite dessert and for the rest of the meal I have already sent your compliments to Soukaïna. Come back anytime.
Thanks again.

Myself and my parnter spent 9 nights in this Riad in October 2012and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice.

The location is perfect, it's only a 5 minute walk from Jemaa el fna square (the main square in the medina) and therefore close to the souks and easy walking distance to just about all of the medina. It is also over looking the walls to the Badi Palace and all the storks roosting on top. However despite being in such a central location it is a minute or two down a quite derb (small street) and is therefore remarkably quiet. The riad is also beautifully decarated mostly with local items.

The price was very reasonable compared with other riads of a similar look and location. Also prices when at the riad are good, for example on one night we ate our evening meal there and were charged 20euro each for a 3 course meal, wine was between 10euro and 15euro a bottle and was saved for you if you didn't drink it all! It also turned out to be one of the best meals we had on the holiday. The breakfasts are great too, all homemade by their cook (even the yogurt!) and delicious.

The best reason to stay here however has got to be the service which was more personal and helpful than I have ever come across. Christian and Isabelle greeted us as though we really were coming to stay in their home, gave us advice on what to do and see and made sure we had everything we could want from homemade biscuits and treats on arrival to buying us in wine they thought we might like to try. On your day of arrival you are walked to the main square to help get your bearings which was invaluable for first timers in Marrakech and we were even walked to and from our hammam as it was in the middle of the maze that is Marrakech! Their staff are equally polite and helpful and made sure we were always catered for.

I suppose it says it all that we have both agreed to go back as soon as we can.

We are a group of four friends who absolutely loved Riad Badi. We were warmly welcome on arrival by Christian and Isabelle who were great hosts, extremely helpful, willing to go the extra mile to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and well-appointed and the food was wonderful. What more can we say? Riad Badi is an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Riad Badi and feel compelled to write a review of this fantastic place to stay. It was our first visit to Marrakech and the welcome we received from Isabelle and Christian was a wonderful first experience in this delightful city.
On arrival we were met at the airport by a driver and taken directly to the Riad, a service we would thoroughly recommend for a very reasonable 15 euro. Isabelle welcomed us with delicious mint tea and pastries while Christian gave us some valuable information about Marrakech including maps, brochures etc. He then offered to take us on a tour of the city which we gratefully accepted. Christians knowledge and advice was invaluable to our stay and most definitely saved us getting completely lost on our first day, he is so pleasant and unassuming and speaks excellent English.
Our room was beautiful, clean, large and comfortable with a lovely bathroom, terrific rainshower and soft white towels. The Riad itself is a complete oasis of calm, perfectly located for all there is to see in Marrakech whilst being totally peaceful and restful. Isabelle and Chrisian are very attentive but also very discreet, they appear as if by magic when you need something but never intrude on your privacy. The breakfast is truly delicious and the whole place is absolutely spotlessly clean. We didn't have dinner in the Riad but are sure it would have been every bit as delicious as everybody describes! The roof terrace is beautiful for relaxing after a hot day in the city, and as beautifully furnished as the rest of the Riad.
We had a lovely meal in Pepe nero for my husbands 50th birthday including a complimentary cake! We also enjoyed drinks and a last night meal at the Cozy Bar which is extremely close and has a wonderful roof terrace, lovely for lunch, dinner or just a few glasses of the local wine!
All in all a fantastic place to stay. We cannot recommend it highly enough and if we return to Marrakech we will definitely stay at the Riad Badi. Go there!

Room Tip: Such a high standard, we are sure all the rooms are wonderful.

Thank you for choosing Riad Badi to celebrate the 50th anniversary of your husband.
You have had the stork room: a large nest decorated in black and white.
We always try to do our best so that you felt as at home and are delighted to have succeeded.
Hoping to see you again for another stay in Marrakech and why not another birthday.
Kind regards

We booked this riad after looking at the reviews, and we're not disappointed.
We were given instructions on how to get there by Isabelle, but our dodgy transfer driver decided to drop us off at a round about and make her come out to get us, which she did with a smile.
We were then given hot mint tea with delicious pastries, and had an exhaustive explanation of how they function, what to do, were given loads of brochures to study, etc..... We then went to our room where the towels are fluffy, white and arranged artfully complete with rose petals, the room is spotlessly clean and very pretty and the bedsvcomfy if a little on the firm side for my personal taste, but after my 4 nights on really hard rock beds at the hotel in the atlas, I slept fine. We then came back down and were offered a tour to get our bearings so Christian took us to the famous Jemaa el fna place and left us there to have lunch. We arrived early, around 12.30 but got to the room strait away, and Christian skipped lunch to accompany us.
We then proceeded to get thoroughly lost in the souks....After about 4 hours walking, in spite of the map given to us, we decided to just walk in a straight line and ended up about 15/20 minutes walk from the riad, near a mosque, we phoned to get instructions and were offered a rescue, which we gratefully accepted, as it was night time. A first in the history of the riad.
We had dinner at the riad which consisted of a Moroccan salad and a lamb couscous which was delicious, so delicious I could not eat desert, made specially for me as I have a problem with fruits and was given a home made chocolate tartlet instead. I had to have it for breakfast... Which are also very good, change a bit everyday, include home made yogurts, jams and pastries, and in my case cheese ( very rare in morocco), my sister had the fresh fruits and the orange juice.
I had another dinner the last day and the briouates and chicken tagine were extremely good again, freshly cooked and juicy, absolutelly lovely, in fact you do not need to go out to eat at all as the food is better at the riad, exept to give the cook a well deserved day off from time to time.
The last day, I made the unfortunate decision to go to a spa for a disastrous massage, and was offered arnica, aspirin, at no cost or trouble, the impression you are left with in spite the horrible massage is that of a excellent stay in a lovely oasis, with hosts who will do everything for you, dropping everything with a smile to ensure your stay will be unforgettable for all the right reasons, with an attention to detail second to none. Highly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a good and detailed review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Riad Badi. With your sister, you are the first to come from Spain and the first to need our help to return to Riad: it is true when the night falls, all the streets of the Medina are alike. As you wrote it the whole team does its best to our guests and adapts at each need of our guests.
Thanks again.

Impossible to recommend this riad highly enough. All the favourable comments in previous reviews are absolutely correct. Christian accompanied us on a quick walk up to Jemaa el Fna on the evening of our arrival, and then a full morning’s tour of the souks and surrounding area the following morning. He even offered to take us on another walking tour the next day, but we had already booked the Hop-on/Hop-off bus, which actually stops just a couple of minutes away in the Place des Ferblantiers (Tinsmiths Square).
Our room (Safran) was large, bright and with a good-sized ensuite, all spotlessly clean. Fabulous bath towels.
Breakfasts were simple, but deliciously fresh and perfectly adequate; eggs available if required. During the day, complimentary mint tea was always on offer.
We had 2 dinners during our 4 night stay and the quality of food was excellent. Isabelle took great care to present the tables and dishes in a most attractive way and on the second occasion even produced a main dish that we had requested. The starter always consisted of 3 small items, and the stuffed tomatoes were outstanding.
It’s hard to believe that Christian and Isabelle have only been doing this for just under a year. Their secret is to treat everyone as a guest in their own home, which they manage to perfection without ever being obtrusive.
Other arrangements, including pick-up from the airport and a private car day trip to Essaouira were organised perfectly, the latter with one of the small number of drivers they use regularly and who helped to make it a great day out. Both journeys were reasonably priced at Eur 15 and 110 respectively.
Riad Badi is situated down a couple of alleyways, and manages to be completely insulated from the chaos nearby. The alleyways are well-lit at night and we never felt uneasy about being out after dark. Le Tanjia restaurant is no more than 3 mins walk away and offers very good food and a belly dancing show.
We subsequently stayed 2 nights at a very highly-rated, supposedly more upmarket riad in the Mouassine district – more than twice as expensive – but for us Riad Badi outshone it.
Go there.

Thanks a lot for writing this complete and nice review with many details.
We receive our guests like we would like to be received so that they keep the best souvenir of Morocco, Marrakech and Riad Badi.
It is always a pleasure to receive guests who crave to know, visit and taste new flavors. During your stay in Morocco you have seen some different places: Marrakech, Essaouira on the Atlantic coast and Ouirgane in the heart of the Toubkal National Park.
We were delighted to meet you.
