“Very nice for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

I've spent 2 nights at this hostel. I've also been in other hostels in Marrakesh so I can compare price/quality. Location - it is not hard to find if you follow their description. Hostel is right in the center of medina, 1 min from the main square.
Positiv: location, price (5 euro breakfest included), nice hall and common room. Small terrace on the roof (without view though), nice breakfest (basic stuff plus fresh orange juice). Stuff was ok, friendly but rather neutral. Main positives that you won't find in some bigger popular hostels in Marrakesh: big lockers, small lamp and plug next to each bed, fast non-stop WiFi (which was not the case in other hostels at all).
Negativ: no toilet paper in WC, rooms as well as beds are quite small (but again for the price you pay its more than good). The negativ for me as for alone-traveller was the lack of atmosphere. The stuff was mostly rather nowhere to see and I didn't really feel like asking for some tours or activities. I would say the hostel is more for groups. If you want to socialize and to find the travel-partners, some other bigger hostels are better for that.
I would recommend to stay in that hostel to everyone who is not travelling alone. Price/quality is good anyway.

I booked a couple of nights here as it was cheap and near to the centre, for the price it was ok but I have stayed in better places on a similar budget and you could probably find better in Marrakech. The place is reasonably clean and the showers were hot, the staff seemed friendly enough but I booked a tour through them to the High Atlas and Sahara and it was not what was advertised (no tour guide, expected to pay for aspects of the tour that were supposedly included in the price). While the tour was ok I didn't appreciate being misled and overcharged and if booking with them you should be aware of this. The price should be 700d not 900 and there will be no english speaking tour guide.

As far as the hostel goes, there is nothing really wrong, the rooms are a bit dark, but the location is great, right on the square and you get a free breakfast. However I would warn against using the hostel to book your 'tour' - they will bill it as a 3 day, 2 night tour with a knowledgable guide who speaks all sorts of languages, everything included except lunch and water. It was implied that they were on the phone speaking to our guide, whereas in reality thet are just passing you off to another company and have no idea which group you will be with. Whilst breakfast and dinner as well as travel are included there is no guide, just a driver, who did not speak English or anything more than a few words of French. We were travelling on to fes and the fact that this information had not actually been passed on as the hostel said it had and then our driver did not speak any languages in common complicated things unnecessarily. Luckily we had a wonderful lady from Casablanca on our trip to sort out the mess for us. The company who runs the tours is very open about what they offer which leads me to believe that the hostel deliberately lies about the tour, and also overprices it. They will quote 900dh, we managed to get it for 800dh but in fact it should cost 700dh. Having said that, I would still reccomend the tour as it was a cheap way to visit lots of places, I just dislike being openly lied to and misled by the staff at the hostel, as had they been honest about the tour I would still have booked.

Small but pretty nice hostel, almost at the 'Jemaa el-Fna' square, which is one of main atraction of Marrakech. My room was very small so if you like a spacious rooms it is rather not a place for you. The staff was friendly and helpful. Simple and good breakfast, free internet. I also met an interesting people there. If you travel on your own it is a place for you.

I recommend this hostel to anyone who is travelling to Marrakech for the first time..and the second time.. and the third time :-)

The hostel is clean, close to the essential places (souks, restaurants, laundromat),and it even has a pc with internet access. If you have a laptop, they have free wifi. It's a bit slow but its enough if you just need to rebook a flight or check your email.

The hostel's decor and breakfast gave us a taste of Morocco even before we explored the landscape and got pulled into the souks. Breakfast is a great social activity because we ate with the other guests in the living are. I love their tea!

The best part is that the staff made the Marrakech experience even more memorable. Helpful and super friendly, they gave good (and honest) recommendations for places to eat and visit. Ali and Aissam, you guys are amazing! :-)

Room Tip: Rooms at the 2nd floor are quieter

Amour d´Auberge was a great place to stay in Marrakech. It was relatively easy to find from where the bus drops off from the airport when asking directions. It had an excellent location, close to everything, but provided a nice, clean, and safe retreat from the city. Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, and there was a nice communal area. Definitely would stay there again, can´t be the price.
