We had booked a table for 19th May and had not been advised of any restrictions. The two men in the party were wearing chino long length shorts polo shirts and sandals. On arrival the security team of three were really rude advising us we could not enter as we were dressed inappropriately. When we asked why we were advised that shorts and sandals were unacceptable. We asked why as we had not been advised of this, one of the security team left us to go inside. Another English couple arrived and he was wearing short chino shorts with loafers. We told him of the problem, but the security team said his dress code was acceptable as he had shoes on no let him in. After waiting for about 10 minutes we were finally allowed in. The interior is atmospheric and very dark and with low tables and chairs, by the time you are seated no one would be able to see what you were wearing from the waist down. We were also surprised at the number of women in mini dresses showing a lot more than from their knees down and wearing sandals isnt this double standards especially in a Muslim country. We had asked to sit outside but were advised you could only get drinks and shishare there, but whilst we were seated a number of people were served food outside..We ordered and wanted the food to be bad but it was surprisingly good. The security team had just ruined our experience and were nothing like any of the friendly Morrocans we met in Marrakech. On our way out we were asked by the manager of experience. We told him what had happened but he was paying lip service to us and did not even listen replying " oh good"!!!!!!!!!
