“Brilliant for first time Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Superb customer service and attention to detail from beginning to end. The right balance between helpful and giving people their space. Good meals. We satyed in two different rooms through our stay both up and down stairs. Both were very good. Wifi Excellent signal unlike many places. Good airport pick up service at a good price.
What can I say. Also good practical help. We have been to North Africa and Morocco a number of times but this is the best service we have experienced and because of this would be superb for first time marrakech travellers or those lacking a little confidence as you will get looked after but not ripped off.
Best place I have stayed in North Africa!

Room Tip: Upstairs probably better. but all excellent.

We stayed here a week March 2013, had a lovely room on the 1st floor. Breakfast on the roof looking at the Atlas Mts each morning superb. This is not an hotel but a traditional Moroccan house providing accommodation and a service attitude that hotels could not match. Nothing was any trouble for Mohammad, Abdullah or the cleaning lady whose name I forgot. The house is situated down some less than appealing alleyways, but that is the nature of the Kasbah area, the locals were friendly and the area is safe. Make sure you arrange for your airport pickup through the Riad and there are no problems. The walk to the centre of town is quite simple after the first time, the various traders enroute get to know you. Treat everyone with a smile and some banter and things go well. We did some of the recommended activities, finding the over night Zagora trip long but very interesting. The driver on our trip was good at driving but not so good at looking after his customers wants, ie the stops and the time spent at places depended on whether he had friends to sit and talk with. The Berbers at the overnight stay, they seem keen on what they do and treat the tourists well, they get very little for their efforts so they warrant a good tip. I can not speak highly enough of the efforts of the staff at Riad Dubai to make our stay so enjoyable.

We went to Marrakech for a 5 night break and cannot recommend this Riad highly enough. Husnai, Hussan and Abdul were the most wonderful hosts - nothing was too much trouble. They were helpful, attentive, informative and by the end of the 5 days, our friends. So much so, we spent our last evening sitting on the roof terrace sipping tea and chatting with them!

The location of the Riad (at the end of Rue de Kasbah) was amazing, and gave us plenty of opportunity to sing Clash songs as we meandered through the medina streets. The rooms are simple but perfectly formed. The bed was super comfortable. The terrace where u can have breakfast, relax in the sun or sip cold drinks at night was beautiful.

But above all, and there were many good things about this Riad, were the staff. A huge thank you to them for making out stay so special.

All the superlatives you may read about the Riad Dubai are true. Owner Said and his staff provided us our best overall riad experience in three plus weeks in Morocco, a country in which there is very good value for budget travelers. Hospitality and attention to detail are second nature here. The Riad Dubai is a treasured respite from Marrakesh culture shock. Be forewarned: You might not want to leave.

Room Tip: If the Riad Dubai is full, Said has other accomodations.

Well where do I start, the Riad Dubai is a must if you are visiting Marrakech. We arranged a transfer from airport via the hotel, the taxi met us and took us to the Riad which is set in the walls of the Medina. Housni came to meet us at the end of the street and helped us with our baggage. When we entered the Riad, we left the craziness of the streets and walked into a tranquil haven where we were seated with a lovely glass of Peppermint Tea and given a brief on the local areas, where to go and not to go etc. We were introduced to the staff and were welcomed "home" which is how it felt. The place is very safe and we would even go out with our door unlocked.

Our room was lovely, we were dubious about room 1 after reading reviews but it was fine and Housni even said if we were not happy he would try and resolve.

The rest of the staff were amazing, Abdul and Hassan providing us with amazing breakfast and dinner. The tagine's and skewers were to die for. We used to take breakfast quite late so it lasted us and this was never a problem and we would sit up on the roof terrace which was a joy. The sun was blazing, there was a berber tent which you could go in for shade or lovely sun loungers if you wanted to take in some warmth. The evenings were pleasant but sometimes you needed a light cardi just over shoulders.

The personal touchers were excellent, on the first morning, drying my hair, my hairbrush broke and Housni even went as far as going to the shop and buying superglue. Faultless.

The only thing I would suggest is if you take the Ourika Valley trip, be prepared, it doesnt state that it is quite a strenuous walk, two of our party from the coach couldnt make it and myself and another person went up and it was very strenuous, very rocky - almost rock climbing in parts, it was fantastic and well worth it but if you decide to go, take very good grip footwear and be prepared for a climb.

The Riad was located near the palace and therefore only about 10 min walk to the Old Square, in the evening it was quite overwhelming with the amount of locals around but there is a lot of guards dotted around and there is no trouble what so ever, just takes a bit of getting used to.

For anyone travelling to Marrakech, this is definately a place to stay, we did bed, breakfast and evening meal, but even if you only eat there a few nights and experience eating in the square, but definately recommend tagines in the Riad with Chicken and Citrus, Keftas(Koftas??), lamb tagine, morroccan salad being a must.

Room Tip: take suitable footwear for Ourika Valley trip.

Very helpful and friendly staff, nothing seemed to much trouble. The Riad was very relaxing with a
nice roof terrace, just a ten minute walk to the main square. We would recommend booking a transfer in advance from the airport through the Riad, as it could be quite difficult to find otherwise. We were met from the taxi by Housni, who helped with the bags, settled us into the Riad with mint tea, advised on places to visit and the do's and don'ts of Marrakech. We would recommend this Riad to our friends and hope to return sometime

Room Tip: Try and get a room upstairs if possible

My husband and I have just this minute returned from our stay at the Riad Dubai, in fact we are Gatwick waiting for a train.. What better thing to do while waiting than to rate our holiday.
We were met at the airport by the Riads driver and had a swift 15 minute drive to the Riad. We were met by Housni who took us to the riad and welcomed us with mint tea and morrocan sweets whilst pointing out the do's and donts of marrakech. Our room was very clean, very quiet and relaxing after the madness of the city. Our first night was spent in the square..with a warning from Housni not to be back too late... Which made me feel a little uneasy!!! Upon our return to the riad at 9pm.. We were greeted by a beautiful handmade birthday cake complete with candle and a serenade of happy birthday in Arabic!!! (The trip was my 40th birthday present!) ... Hence the " don't be back too late!!"
We spent our 3 days in marrakech exploring the city, the stories of hassle seem to be exaggerated..although you do get a bit of hassle but its easy to just smile, laugh it off and walk away. That way everyone's happy.. I'd recommend a few days in marrakech to anyone, but I'd recommend the Riad Dubai to everyone.
You must try the snails on the square... Not as bad as you'd think. The cinnamon tea sold by the Berbers is also worth a go.
