“cream of the crop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

All the superlatives you may read about the Riad Dubai are true. Owner Said and his staff provided us our best overall riad experience in three plus weeks in Morocco, a country in which there is very good value for budget travelers. Hospitality and attention to detail are second nature here. The Riad Dubai is a treasured respite from Marrakesh culture shock. Be forewarned: You might not want to leave.

Room Tip: If the Riad Dubai is full, Said has other accomodations.

“Amazing little Gem - Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Well where do I start, the Riad Dubai is a must if you are visiting Marrakech. We arranged a transfer from airport via the hotel, the taxi met us and took us to the Riad which is set in the walls of the Medina. Housni came to meet us at the end of the street and helped us with our baggage. When we entered the Riad, we left the craziness of the streets and walked into a tranquil haven where we were seated with a lovely glass of Peppermint Tea and given a brief on the local areas, where to go and not to go etc. We were introduced to the staff and were welcomed "home" which is how it felt. The place is very safe and we would even go out with our door unlocked.

Our room was lovely, we were dubious about room 1 after reading reviews but it was fine and Housni even said if we were not happy he would try and resolve.

The rest of the staff were amazing, Abdul and Hassan providing us with amazing breakfast and dinner. The tagine's and skewers were to die for. We used to take breakfast quite late so it lasted us and this was never a problem and we would sit up on the roof terrace which was a joy. The sun was blazing, there was a berber tent which you could go in for shade or lovely sun loungers if you wanted to take in some warmth. The evenings were pleasant but sometimes you needed a light cardi just over shoulders.

The personal touchers were excellent, on the first morning, drying my hair, my hairbrush broke and Housni even went as far as going to the shop and buying superglue. Faultless.

The only thing I would suggest is if you take the Ourika Valley trip, be prepared, it doesnt state that it is quite a strenuous walk, two of our party from the coach couldnt make it and myself and another person went up and it was very strenuous, very rocky - almost rock climbing in parts, it was fantastic and well worth it but if you decide to go, take very good grip footwear and be prepared for a climb.

The Riad was located near the palace and therefore only about 10 min walk to the Old Square, in the evening it was quite overwhelming with the amount of locals around but there is a lot of guards dotted around and there is no trouble what so ever, just takes a bit of getting used to.

For anyone travelling to Marrakech, this is definately a place to stay, we did bed, breakfast and evening meal, but even if you only eat there a few nights and experience eating in the square, but definately recommend tagines in the Riad with Chicken and Citrus, Keftas(Koftas??), lamb tagine, morroccan salad being a must.

Room Tip: take suitable footwear for Ourika Valley trip.

“Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Very helpful and friendly staff, nothing seemed to much trouble. The Riad was very relaxing with a
nice roof terrace, just a ten minute walk to the main square. We would recommend booking a transfer in advance from the airport through the Riad, as it could be quite difficult to find otherwise. We were met from the taxi by Housni, who helped with the bags, settled us into the Riad with mint tea, advised on places to visit and the do's and don'ts of Marrakech. We would recommend this Riad to our friends and hope to return sometime

Room Tip: Try and get a room upstairs if possible

“Home from home, fantastic Riad, fantastic people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I have just this minute returned from our stay at the Riad Dubai, in fact we are Gatwick waiting for a train.. What better thing to do while waiting than to rate our holiday.
We were met at the airport by the Riads driver and had a swift 15 minute drive to the Riad. We were met by Housni who took us to the riad and welcomed us with mint tea and morrocan sweets whilst pointing out the do's and donts of marrakech. Our room was very clean, very quiet and relaxing after the madness of the city. Our first night was spent in the square..with a warning from Housni not to be back too late... Which made me feel a little uneasy!!! Upon our return to the riad at 9pm.. We were greeted by a beautiful handmade birthday cake complete with candle and a serenade of happy birthday in Arabic!!! (The trip was my 40th birthday present!) ... Hence the " don't be back too late!!"
We spent our 3 days in marrakech exploring the city, the stories of hassle seem to be exaggerated..although you do get a bit of hassle but its easy to just smile, laugh it off and walk away. That way everyone's happy.. I'd recommend a few days in marrakech to anyone, but I'd recommend the Riad Dubai to everyone.
You must try the snails on the square... Not as bad as you'd think. The cinnamon tea sold by the Berbers is also worth a go.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Stayed in Feb 2012 with my wife and was impressed thoroughly. Location is good, just inside the Medina, everything is walkable, the squar takes 10-15 mins to walk but is easy to find. Arranged transfers through hotel and they met the taxi at medina entrance as cannot always come into the medina, they carried the bags the short way. We ate the first night and food was excellent, we didnt eat again, only as we prefer to eat out and walk around. The breakfast served on the rooftop was great, nothing fancy, but excellent and more than enough to fill you up. The room was beuatiful as was the general decor. Very happy to have chosen to stay there. The owners are also very helpful and will give you assitance to locate sites etc, and dont push any tours on you either (they included some options in an email to me, but never spoke of it again, and to be honest, i was happy to get those options). Top marks
