“Very good Moroccan restaurant in Gueliz, the modern part of Marrakech.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

We ordered the starter, 10 Moroccan salads, which is very recommendable and brought us around many of the flavours of the Moroccan cuisine. The main courses were also good, we chose two different Moroccan lamb dishes which were both very tasty. The waiter was polite, concise and spoke good English. A really good Moroccan restaurant with good food, nice atmosphere and good service. We can recommend it.

“Traditional Moroccan tastes for the uninitiated.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Libzar was a recommendation from colleagues in Morocco, and it was a good one. The restaurant has traditional Moroccan fare and the menu has limited choices. For us this was a good thing as we were new to the cuisine. We started with a selection of traditional Moroccan salads which were presented in a lovely multitude of small portions and resembled a mosaic. Almost all of them were very nice, and in particular the slivered carrot in orange sauce or peel (we couldn't figure that out. Another memorable one was the pumpkin puree.

For mains we had two tagines amongst three colleagues with plain couscous. Just the right amount. One was a kefta tagine in a tomato sauce and an egg and the other was a cumin based chicken tagine with a wonderful sauce to be mopped up with bread.

The desserts were very good. The duo of creme brulee was great, although it is sufficient for two people to share. My other colleagues has pastilla based desserts which they enjoyed.

Surprisingly we were the only ones in the restaurant for the entire time. I suspect that we were very early for lunch (around noon) and that Saturday lunch is probably a family affair at home.

The restaurant is nice, but a bit dated and has a somewhat tired look to it. However, that did not deter from the good food and equally attentive service.

“An excellent first taste of Morroco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

We found this restaurant by chance, close to our apartment. Very warm welcome and delicious Morrocan food. We had the Morrocan salads, actually some vegetarian tapas, very tasty and well presented. After that we had fish tajine, served with couscous and bread. Everything was well preparied with care and consideration about flavours. We did not order wine but there is a wine list with quite affordable prices. We really recommend this place, it was a great introduction to fine dining in Morroco.

“Lovely Minature Tangines of Exquisite Flavor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

This was the most exceptional dining experience in Marakech. We were a large group of 18 culinary travelers. When the first courses were served there was easily 8 or 9 small plates of interesting tastes of Morocco. The main course was 8 tiny one or two bite tangines that included lamb, beef, chicken, fish and vegetable morsels ......Delicious. Dessert was once again a number of small plates with 1 to two bite tastes different sweets. The Moroccon wine was great. The whole meal was an experience not to be missed.
