Well located for the Soukh. Very comfortable and welcoming. Extremely helpful. Suggest booking transport to and from the airport via the hotel.

“The BEST riad in Marrakech!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

My girlfriend and I stayed with Franck at Riad L'Etoile D'Orient for 2 nights in November 2011 and can honestly say that it was one of the best stay's we've had at any hotel, anywhere. Just a short walk from Jemaa El Fna - but still tucked away on a quite street - the perfect escape from the enjoyable hustle of life in the Medina.

From the moment we stepped in the door - the staff was friendly and accommodating. Franck so kindly upgraded us to a bigger room as well - a very lovely surprise.

The room was perfect. A wonderful spa-like bathroom; amazingly comfortable bed; robes and slippers - everything we could ask for after a 2 day trek up Jebel Toubkal.

We were asked what time we'd like them to have breakfast ready for us (another nice surprise, as I had no idea breakfast was included)! After an incredible sleep - we came downstairs to a great breakfast laid out just for us. Cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cakes and pastries, pancakes, juice, tea, coffee - just perfect!

Initially, we had only planned to stay a single night - but after our arrival, we immediately went to Franck to ask if we could stay for another night. We did not want to leave!

If/when we do return to Marrakech - we will no doubt stay at Riad L'Etoile D'Orient again.

We cannot recommend this place enough - stay, stay, stay!

Cheers!

-Greg & Lou

“Oasis at the heart of the medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at this beautiful Riad at the start of November 2011. From the moment we stepped through the door we were astounded by the beautiful and luxurious surrounding. We were immediately offered some refreshing mint tea by Franck and then shown to our room and given a quick tour of the residence. Our room was one of the smaller rooms but had everything we needed for a short stay. The Riad is located just off Jemaa El Fna, so it's a fantastic location but you wouldn't know that it was in the middle of the Medina once inside, it is amazingly peaceful. We walked to all of the main sights, no need for transport. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and consisted of morrocan pancakes, toast, preserves, fresh fruit, yoghurts, dried fruits, fresh orange juice etc.. We spent the early evening in the roof top jacuzzi, recovering from the days sightseeing. The Riad is absolutely spotless, the maids are very attentive and work hard to make sure that everything is in order. We didn't eat there but the food smelt amazing.

I would definitely go back, it was fantastic value for money.

Room Tip: Email the hotel before you fly and they will organise for you to be met at the airport, it was a lit...

“Excellent location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

My wife had arranged everything for our trip to Marrakech, all i knew was she told me that the hotel price was very cheap and not to expect anything luxurious. We arrived by bus from the airport at Jemaa El Fna area and it took us 10 minutes walking to the hotel (5 min from bus stop to the main square and another 5 min to hotel). When we arrived in front of the hotel door, i started to understand what had been expected by my wife but as soon this very friendly lady; Abla opened the door. The hotel has this beautiful courtyard just like in the picture. It was stunningly beautiful! Our room was not very big but it's enough. I also realized that this hotel location is very convenient as it's only 5 min to the main square and 5 min to Pepe Nero restaurant (must try!). In fact, i didn't see any hotel sign which was closer to the square than our hotel. Location is very important if you decide to stay in the old town because it has so many small alleys and some teenagers (read: criminals) will insist to show you the way (although you have google map) and at the end they will rip your money off!

“Nice B&B very close to the Souks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2012

The riad was beautiful and pretty close to the Jemaa al Fna, we just simply took the bus number 19 from the airport and walked about 5-10 minutes here. It would be easier if you have the google maps, since this area has so many small alleys which could confuse you, and too many local guys offer you to take you to the riad but you'll never know how much they asked for the money!
We arrived too early, around 11am, but the staff, Abla, kind enough to let us wait in the patio and gave us a refreshing local tea and snack, and she gave us a riad tour before our room was ready and helped us to reserved our dinner at Pepenero. Thanks to her.
Our room was smaller than I expected actually, but they have bigger room with higher price. The bathroom has a standing shower without the curtain so it's quite hard for us to keep the bathroom's floor dry and clean. The bed was comfy though, and we had a good sleep during our stay there. The free wi-fi connection is another advantage.
The lounge is the best part, it's beautiful, and since we got an early check-out, they arranged our breakfast there (because it's too cold on the rooftop).

Room Tip: I think the rooms on the second floor are bigger and nicer.
