We had the pleasure of staying at the Riad Basim at the end of July 2011 for a few days while in Marrakech. The decor was chic and the rooms were tastefully decorated with regal colours and snazzy lamps. Breakfast was served on the terrace providing a view of olive trees and it was then a twenty minute walk through the medina to Place Jamaa El Fna, Marrakech's main square.
The riad hosts its in-house hammam - you have to give 24 hours notice if you wish to use the hammam, as it takes a while to heat-up, and the riad can organize professionals to come and scrub away that old skin.
What really made this riad stand out was the exceptional service we received. Sylvia and her husband Mohammad made us feel incredibly welcome in their Riad and helped us to plan our trip around Morocco - even arranging car hire for us and suggesting hotels we could stop at on the way. We returned to Riad Basim at the end of our trip for a night before flying home and it was like coming home. If you haven't been to Marrakech before and need restaurant tips and advice on what to see, where to go - Sylvia and Mohammad are fountains of knowledge and very willing to share their views.
We spent a total of two weeks travelling around Morocco and the Riad Basim was undoubtedly the best place we stayed.
Thank you both for all of your tips while we were in Morocco!
