“An enchanting place to stay in Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2011

My friend and I stayed at this riad on a yoga retreat, and it had everything we could have asked for. Beautifully decorated, with very friendly and helpful staff, yummy breakfasts, WIFI, warm showers, and a lovely cool plunge pool decorated with rose petals daily. The yoga on the roof top was really special. Thanks for a lovely stay.

I spent 5 nights at Riad Laksiba with my boyfriend. Marrakesh is amazing and occasionally exhausting; staying at this Riad allowed us to experience the city and still come back to London feeling refreshed.

It's a beautiful old building, sympathetically decorated. Each room has a little outdoor lounge either on or overlooking the courtyard where the (wonderful) breakfast is served, and of course there's a lovely roof terrace.

Location wise, it's a bit further from the main square than some other places (15 minute walk). That was something we initially worried about, but we were very glad of the short distance in the end. It's a very easy, fun walk but helps create a much-appreciated feeling that the Riad's a haven removed from the hustle and bustle.

But what really sets this Riad apart is the amazing personal approach to hospitality. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and thoughtful. We were in Marrakesh at the time of the explosion in the main square and the Riad's staff and owner went to extraordinary lengths to make sure all the guests were safe and accounted for - something you certainly couldn't expect anywhere else.

Simply put, this was perfect for our trip to Marrakesh and I highly recommend it.

Thank you for your kind comments. I am pleased that you are safe and that the Bomb incident did not impact on your quiet enjoyment of Riad Laksiba and Marrakech in general. Very musch appreciated. Simon. Riad Laksiba

Spent 5 nights in this beautiful riad with my partner and was blown away by how friendly the staff were, nothing was ever too much effort for them. The rooms well furnished in a typical Moroccan style and the en-suite bath rooms were clean and never ran out of hot water.

The riad has a rooftop terrace which is perfect for sunbathing in the day and chilling out with a beer whilst watching the sunsets in the evening.

A Moroccan Style Breakfast was served outside our room every morning with coffee, tea and freshly squeezed orange juice on tap.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a place to stay in the heart of the real Marrakesh.

This was our first trip to Morocco and Riad Laksiba our first stopping point. We arrived by overland and fairly late into the night. This was not a problem for the help and accommodating staff who not only continually gave us directions to the Riad but then met us personally to guide us in and arrange the best place to park. The Riad is not difficult to find but after many hours driving and our first time driving in Morocco we were grateful for the help. We stayed three nights and wished we had book all our time there! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are ready to help. The Riad itself is amazing in everyway a real haven from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

This was a quick visit to Marrakech with my son and I was delighted with the ease of it!
Riad Laksiba was just the ticket and the staff, just lovely. Abdelhamid especially! He made my sons trip special by taking time and digging out Morocco Monopoly... Great!
I didn't bring a laptop and am unsure whether this riad has wifi but Gabe did manage to watch some cartoons along with Abdelhamid. After the hustle bustle of roaming around the city this oasis prove to be the perfect choice - calm, clean, friendly and comfortable.

The staff were fun and really easy to get along with. Very helpful always asking if we needed a drink or anything. The Riad smelled lovely and is very pretty . In an excellent location. Simon is very friendly and helpful and knows a lot about the area if we got lost. The weather was lovely and I took a particular liking to Karma the Camelion on the orane tree in the Riad. The breakfast that was served was varied and tasty and i like the decor. A wonderful trip! Definitely the best, most traditional Riad i've ever stayed in and the locals are very friendly!

This excellent Riad is located in a beautiful part of the medina. Its an easy walk to the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace, the souks and djemma square. Its also located close to a well known entrance into the walled medina making it an easy place to find!
Friendly and obliging staff made our stay really special and Simon the English owner of the Riad generously gave his time to guide us through the maze that is Marrakesh.
Thanks to his advice we ate at excellent restaurants off the tourist trail.
I felt safe walking back at night and would strongly recommend Riad Laksiba to female travellers. I will be staying here again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Tucked just inside the ancient walls of the Kasbah quartier of Marrakech Medina you will find Riad Laksiba a quiet English owned Riad perfectly place for you to discover the mystique that is Marrakech. What do you want to do?• Explore Morocco the genuine way• Immerse yourself into the culture• Travel with the locals• See the natural & unspoilt beauty of this country• Make the journey part of your holiday• A memorable way to discover a country & its people• Get to know like-minded people• A step towards greater exploration• Be encouraged to appreciate a country as it should be seen.…make it an unforgettable experience Then you may well be a Riad Laksiba "Flashpacker": Most travellers have backpacked at some stage in their life. Some go for the traditional hard-core version. Sleeping on floors and roughing it in the jungle. Others have opted for the softer version, those in their early to late 20′s, staying in hostels, sleeping in large dorms; in Australia or Thailand for example. However, most have also experienced the dirty bed linen, the shared showers and blocked toilets. So now that you have ticked those boxes and are now a bit maturer what is the next step? Flashpacker vs Backpacker: You don’t want to miss out on travelling by public transport, the thought of staying in a chain hotel puts you off, package holidays are an absolute no no; you want that bit of the luxury, you have become accustomed to with age, that you can actually afford now and you have a bit more cash to spare. Welcome to being part of a very fast growing trend -THE FLASHPACKER The Flashpacker: Laptop, iPhone, Digital Camera and a little luxury on a Budget. Flashpacking as the name implies derives from backpacking. Backpacking with an upgrade, making it flash. Flash for cash, flash as in expectation of standard or even just flash with gadgets at hand (iPhone, laptop, etc). Riad Laksiba is one of the first of it’s kind, in Marrakech, to offer this unique travel experience and cater for the evident gap in the market. Over the year we have identified that our target market is travellers in their mid 20′s to late 40′s failing to find the standard within the right time frame and budget category. Riad Laksiba prides itself on being able to offer an exceptional service allowing its clients to pre book accommodation within the backpacker budget (Euro 30-60 (£25-£50)/ night/ double room). The standard of our rooms a priority. Clean linen, en-suite, towels included, Free Wi-Fi, safe locations, female friendly and suitable for solo travellers. The advantage that Riad Laksiba offers to Flashpackers is that it offers unique accommodation, not listed in any of the guidebooks therefore undiscovered and not overrun with backpackers. In addition we offer a very personal service catering for the individual travellers needs without taking away the feeling of independent travel from the traveller. Riad Laksiba encourages our guests to experience the true environment of the country and therefore works supporting local community. The Riad Laksiba experience is much about integrating into a local community. Our motto "…don’t just be a tourist" strikes a cord with most flashpacker clients. We also organise Yoga retreats, Cookery based holidays, 2 Center Holidays to Marrakech / Essaouria and also Marrakech / Ourika Valley thus City-Coast and City-Country. We are also planning City-Desert for the more adventurous. We look forward to receiving you and adding value to your own adventure. Simon Hawkesley (Riad Laksiba) ... more   less
