A fabulous place to stay in old Marrakech (in the Medina) arriving is a culture shock as you wonder why the taxi (arrange by Laurent) has stopped in a narrow, crowded street at the head of an alleyway and after a short walk you arrive at a beautiful door. Once inside you are away from the noise and chaotic traffic that makes Marrakech so interesting, Laurent and his staff welcome you with mint tea and pastries make from his own fabulous chef. The air conditioned rooms (we had reserved two) are well appointed, yet modest, with a sperate bathroom with a large walk in shower. Fresh towels are provided daily.
Breakfast was served on the lower terrace, fresh orange juice, pancakes & pastries, tea, coffee, etc.
The Riad is a few minutes walk from the Al Badia palace and about 10 minutes from the Place Jemaa El Fna and the main souks. The knowledgeable Ahmed escorted us on our first foray to ensure we didn't get lost.
Do dine at the Riyadh a truly historic Morrocan meal, under the stars, cooked by the Riad's own great chef, good, reasonable local wines are available.
Nothing was too much trouble for Laurent or his staff. The Riad is a great location for exploring the Medina. This must be just the most beautiful place to stay and I highly recommend it.
