The Riad Balkisse is a wonderful Place to stay at the edge of Medina and close go the largest market, the facilities are more than adequate and the staff are very friendly and helpful, it's a safe place to stay. The owner is very nice and he checks in each day to make sure that your being looked after.

You can see the Atlas Mountains from the roof terrace in winter months which is beautiful.

Over all a great place to stay in the madness of Marrakech.

We will return.

A very good option closed to the place place Jewaa El-Fna. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms size and bathrooms are good however the rooms with access to the inside Riad (mot of them) are quiet noisy in the evening and early morning when people are having dinner or breakfast . The airport transfer is on the higher side for Marrakech (15 euros) , but overall a very good option , thanks to Driss and Fouad . Ask for the 2 rooms on the terrace !

Room Tip: The ones on the terrace

When planning to stay in Marrakech, we must recommend this Riad. We selected it after careful research of various booking sites and tripadvisor.

Pro's and cons:

Pro's
- warm welcome with tea and local cookies.
- we arrived around 11 am but could already get into our room.
- Fouad, as mentioned is a warm and capable person with a wide interest. The lady is a very good cook. The nice young lad still has to learn a bit.
- quiet at night, birds can wake you up in the morning.
- two minutes walking distance from the main square!
- authentic style and materials, very cosy and romantic interior.
- spotless clean rooms.
- service minded: a sisha was arranged upon our wish.
- variety in breakfasts.

Con's.
- a bit difficult to find, make sure you are able to find the hospital and you are a couple of steps away from the riad.
- no view to mention, especially from the rooms.
- can be noisy during the day from people talking in the central area.
- they will help you with booking of excursions. Somehow they are not allways well informed or choose to steer you away from certain excursions. We wanted to go to Imlil and Ourika valley (recommended) but according to the staff the road was closed due to the rain which fell a week ago. And guess what; all roads were open.

The hotel is a little difficult to find but we asked for directions in a restaurant nearby and the problem was solved. The room was ok, clean and quiet, in the center of marrakech medina.
Good breakfast.
Be careful with the receptionist advice about restaurants because he will take you to the most expensive ones.

The location is perfect, the riad is beautiful and the breakfast is delicious but the great thing about this place it's the magnificent staff. They will do everything to make you feel welcome. I would gladly return there.
