“Superb Riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

My wife and I had a wonderful 3 day stay - very friendly and attentive staff, good food and very comfortable. Situated in the medina where you are supplied with a mobile phone should you get lost but we had no problems. Lovely roof garden for eating, relaxing or sun bathing.
Thank you

5-night stay at the beginning of May 2013. First visit to Marrakech with my wife and 3-yr old daughter. The first thing that will strike you is the labyrinthine approach through the Medina alleyways, a 10-minute walk from the nearest taxi dropoff. Don't be deterred -- we found these corridors safe, well-lit and well-travelled, and full of friendly people (especially when greeting them with a smiling "bonjour"). Ask the hotel managers (the lovely Valentina or Yajaira) for directions and landmarks, as we found no map really useful. They are happy to send a guide to walk with you until you get your bearings, and even give you a local mobile phone free of charge to call in case you get lost (we didn't, but nice for peace of mind).

The Riad is stylish, well-maintained, and kept immaculately clean -- a calm and inviting oasis away (but not far) from the hustle/bustle of the souks. The design highlight is the rooftop terrace, which is perfect for breakfast, sunbathing (bikinis allowed), enjoying the warm breeze at sunset, or relaxing with a nightcap. The view is superb and the all-white decor seems straight out of a trendy Miami Beach resort. The staff will deliver beer and wine (4 Euros) right to the terrace along with a variety of snacks free of charge, all day. My daughter also loved cooling off for a short while each day in the small courtyard pool, though I didn't see any other guests using it. Dinner is an option which we did once -- 25 Euros pp excluding alcohol -- a generous amount of excellent food that was among the best we tasted in Marrakech. Rooms are air conditioned (helpful as daytime high temps were near 40 C) though designed to be naturally cool despite the heat. Our room (Eucalyptus suite) was shower only.

Undoubtedly the most memorable and laudable aspect of RK is the friendly and thoughtful staff. From management to porters to maids, every employee we met was smiling and helpful, and very good at anticipating our needs. Upon our arrival late at night with a sleeping child, we found in the room a plateful of homemade "snacks" (enough mini-sandwiches, cookies and pastries to feed 3 families), plenty of bottled water (which they give you throughout the stay at no charge), and a jug of fresh squeezed orange juice (oh what a treat for weary travellers!). The couch was already made into a bed for our daughter. The next morning we left early, our room a mess of exploding suitcases, but upon our return found the room in spotless condition, including each of our suitcases unpacked and clothes neatly folded or hung in the closet. Wow! And of this happened every day! For anyone with kids, the staff is an asset not to be underestimated. They delighted our daughter at every turn, for example each day the maid cleaning our room arranged her dolls and toys in a new and fun way. They flirted with and entertained her to no end, and seemed genuinely sad to see her go (the feeling was mutual).

While the Riad is not perfect (some rooms are smallish, and the WiFi could be better), there's so much positive to say about RK. It's hard to imagine a better introduction to Marrakech or a better launchpad from which to explore the energetic Medina.

Room Tip: Eucalyptus suite with sofa easily accommodates an older child or even adult. There was plenty of add...

We are in Morocco for 2 weeks and started our trip at the riad Kherridine. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and we couldn't have asked for a better location. It is as fantastic as other reviews have mentioned - with a special highlight being Ismail who's directions were indispensable. We liked the fact the riad was a bit further from the main square with the walk there being an interesting part of the day - it was also nice to get back to the calm after a mad day in the soucks. Valantina was a wonderful host - she were happy to chill some champagne we had bought and also presented a lovely bouquet of roses with the birthday breakfast. We will definitely return !!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jasmine room which was over 3 floors. A bit querky but we loved it - especially the...

We stayed at the Riad Kheirredine for 3 nights for the bank holiday weekend in 2013.
I booked this Riad because I read a lot of good things about the staff and people definitely don't lie, the members of staff are pure stars !

We got upgraded for 2 nights to a bigger room, which is a lot bigger than the standard and absolutely amazing so I would say go for superior if you have a choice ! We stayed in the Rose room for 2 nights then the Sandal room for 1 night. The standard room was still lovely but because it is smaller it does get a bit hot at night (although there is AC so this should help if you use it, I just don't like AC so didn't use it!)

The breakfast is absolutely amazing !!! Go for full! The pastries and cakes are all fresh. The eggs are lovely and they give you traditionnal bread and kind of pancakes and crepes which are yummy ! You can have breakfast upstairs in the roof terrasse or wherever you like (middle terrasse, in the patio downstairs, inside if it's too hot...). The fruit salad is freshly made and you can ask for specific fruits if you want and they have them.

The Riad is a bit far from the main square and therefore a bit difficult to find on arrival but they give you a number to call so that they can pick you up. We actually like doing stuff on our own so we just asked and a local brought us there. The Riad will give you a phone to call them if you ever get lost and the first time you go out they have lovely staff to teach you the way. Ismail was a great teacher and we didn't have to use the phone a single time !
We quite like to get lost and find our way ourselves so we actually changed the way we got to the Riad on a few occasions just for the pleasure of trying to find it in the street maze !

Tea coffee water orange juice is included so you can have as much as you like at anytime which is nice. The roof terrasse is amazing to relax at the end of the day. They serve wine and beer as well, not incredibly cheap (4 euros) but considering that it is not very common in the city and they give you olives and dried apricots to nibble on it's ok !

If you want to go anywhere they will book everything for you. If you want to eat inside and avoid the perpetual harassment in the street, the other people in the hotel said the dinner was great (but very large, make sure you are hungry!)
We decided to do everything on our own so didn't get dinner there and went to a few of the nearby restaurants which are very nice. We prefer quiet and non touristy places so we tried to avoid the tourist restaurants but they do look nice. We also booked our own retrun trip to Essaouira with local buses even though the staff were not really convinced that it was a good idea ! It was a lot cheaper as the bus station is only 10 min walk from the Riad but I would certainly not recommend the local buses if you have kids! They can book everything for you with nice buses and cab if you can't be bothered or you want comfort !

Overall a lovely experience and I would recommend this Riad to anyone who doesn't mind the 15-20 min walk back to reach it. The place and the staff are definitely worth it !

Room Tip: The superior rooms are a lot bigger and very nice and get less warm during the night than the standa...

Prior to leaving the U.S. for vacation we arranged an airport pickup through the Riad and just as promised, our driver was there waiting for us with a sign for the Riad Kheirredine. Our driver, Mohammed was friendly and told us about the significance of many important sites as we passed them on our drive. I would highly recommend asking the Riad to arrange for the airport pickup as haggling for a cab at the airport might be a bit overwhelming upon arrival.

Mohammed dropped us off at the taxi stand in Sidi Ben Slimane where Ismail was already there waiting for us (cars cannot fit into alley ways of the medina so you must go by foot from that point). We were greeted by Ismail, one of the Riad's staff, to cart our bags and walk us through the winding medina alleys to the Riad's location. I could never say enough wonderful things about Ismail. He was cheerful, courteous and welcoming and we knew if he was any indication of our stay with Riad Kheirrdeine then we were going to be very happy. As it turns out, we were fortunately right in this assumption. Upon entering the Riad, you are immediately struck by the cleanliness and beautiful decor. Yajaira greeted us with a warm smile and immediately asked us if we needed water, coffee, mint tea, a snack, whatever we could ever want! You are made to instantly feel welcome, comfortable and at home in this riad. We were sat down in the inner courtyard and served a snack with some of the well-know mint tea that Morocco is famous for. Yajaira provided us with very useful information as well as a few helpful maps of the medina. After we reassured Yajaira that we didn’t have any additional questions, she showed us to our room.

The room (Verveine) was immaculately clean, smelled wonderful and was perfectly decorated with a beautiful Moroccan/Italian flair (the owner, Marina, is Italian). Bowls of fresh fruit and almond cookies were set out upon our arrival as well as a large vase of fresh white roses. The mini fridge was packed with cold water and various soda options (all free of charge). Nightly our bed was turned down, our fruit supply replenished and our fridge re-stocked. We were always asked if we needed anything or wanted anything to drink or eat. Never once did I feel that we weren’t thought of.

We arranged to have dinner at Riad Kheirredine the first night as we arrived a bit late in the evening and were very tired from the flight. We enjoyed two cold “Casablanca” beers served with cocktail peanuts and Moroccan olives in the courtyard prior to dinner. We were served a HUGE and delicious dinner feast consisting of several courses - Moroccan salads, fresh bread and soup, Chicken Pastilla, Beef and Prune tagine, and a delicious dessert. At the end of our meal we were beyond full and very satisfied. The staff was very attentive and always went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

For the next few days, the staff continually checked on our comfort and made themselves available for whatever we needed. They arranged a trip for us to Ourika Valley where we hiked through the Atlas Mountains and visited Berber villages. They took care of arranging the driver as well as the local Berber tour guide. Throughout our stay, they assisted with suggesting things to do and places to eat, as well as arranging dinner reservations for the restaurants of our choice. Each day, our room was cleaned and restocked with fruits, water and beverages. It was evident anytime you looked around that the staff took care of the Riad to the highest standard possible.

I took my time writing this review because I wanted to fully express my gratitude and appreciation for Riad Kheirredine. As I noticed upon our return to the states, the Riad’s rating had dropped and according to all the rave positive reviews (all 5 star!!!), I am incredibly confused. Whatever the rating TripAdvisor assigns, I can ensure that this is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed and deserves only the highest rating possible. I sincerely cannot imagine another place that could do better. I encourage anyone to stay here and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to the Riad Kheirredine staff and management, - Marina, Yajaira, Valentina, Ismail, Ibrahim, Abdullah, Elena, and others. (I apologize for misspellings of names and anyone I forgot!) You all are wonderful and made our stay in Marrakech a memorable and wonderful experience!! I am happy to now call you all my friends. My husband and I hope to return in the future and will absolutely book with Riad Kheirredine again!

Stayed in the Riad Kheirredine for 4 nights in the end of April 2013. It was my second time visiting Marrakech but the first for my family. We really enjoyed our stay at the riad. The hospitality and customer service was perfect. The whole experience from the pickup at the airport, the dinner when we arrived at the riad, the guided tour through the souk, supporting us with a local cell phone (in case we got lost), the best roof terrace, smiling and knowledge staff and lovely breakfast, to the last arrangement with the driver getting us to our next destination. The location is good, a charming neighborhood.Would recommend this riad in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: As we traveled a family of 4, the tower room Jasmine was a good fit. Allthough I must mention that t...

We stayed early April and had a lovely time. All the reviews are true, the Riad is an Oasis of Calm run by the outstanding and caring management of Valentina and Yajaira. Always welcomed on our return to the Riad with the offer of refreshments, and offered advice and the support of Ismail to guide us to new destinations if required. All the staff are friendly, courteous and helpful and Ismail an absolute star with his excellent directions and care in pointing out landmarks. Restaurant recommendations to be trusted, we had an excellent meal at the nearby moroccan restaurant and the one night we stayed in and my wife wanted a snack Valentina sent out one of her staff in the evening to get some bread to make a lovely cheese and tomato roll, the epitomised the exceptional customer service, great place, recommended.
