I was recommended to do the cooking course at Maison MK by a close friend. It wasn't easy to get a booking because they offer it to their hotel guests first and they don't take big groups - it was just me and my boyfriend. That latter point is what makes the course so great. It's tailored to what you want and you get one to one tutoring so my boyfriend's knife skills had really improved by the end. During the course you cook a tagine, make mint tea, bread and traditional Moroccan salads. But first you are taken round the souk to buy all the ingredients including lamb (you can choose chicken, beef or fish), vegetables, spices, nuts, prunes and 5 types of mint for the mint tea. Omar, our fabulous chef, was with us the whole time and because we were with him and a guide we got no hassle. Little touches like taking our bread to a nearby communal bread oven made you feel like you were getting a real Moroccan cooking experience. The best bit though was eating our three course meal on the terrace. We had it all to ourselves. The views are incredible and the food was the best i had the whole time I was in Marrakech. We were given the rest of the spices to take home with us and the recipes for what we had made. I would recommend this to anyone going to the city. It was 130 euros for two people which is an absolute bargain.
