“cheap n cheerful. Good pizza and cheap as chips.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

if you need a break from the Morrocan cusine, then Catanzaro is deffo reccomeneded. Usually quite busy, if not packed to the darkened rafters the service is fast and relatively friendly, though by no means exceptional when considering the exceptional service you will become accustomed to in Marrakesh.
Pizza were good, and damn damn cheap.

“The best place to eat in Marrakech"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2011

After several days of being taken to less than average "local" restaurants in Morocco, we broke off from our tour group and decided to have dinner at Catanzaro. It was recommendation by another family who was part of the tour grup, after seeing great reviews online.

We had to go back the next day for dinner again - amazing service, great food and price but we recommend making reservations as this restaurant is always packed.

“Great for a fast, tasty and wallet-friendly meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2010

We enjoyed a tasty meal at this 'restaurant' during a recent stay in Marrakech. Please note that 'Pastaz by Catanzaro' is distinct from the more popular 'Catanzaro' eatery!
Pastaz is a small, informal place that offers both eat in and takeaway services. You definitely do not need a reservation! The menu is quite limited, but tasty and the food was delicious and fresh. There is a selection of pastas, pizzas and make-your-own salads - each are around 50dh (approx 4.50-5 euros). The menus only come in French, but some of the wait staff are able to help out with basic translations.
We both ordered pizzas and agreed that they were comparable with many good European offerings. The crust was thin and crispy and the portion size was perfect (generous, but manageable). We were absolutely starving by the time we arrived at the restaurant and so appreciated the prompt service!
All in all, it was a fun, cheap and tasty meal. This is definitely not the place to come for a memorable Moroccan meal, but if you'd like a break from the heavy (and often time-consuming) dinner-time feasts, this might just be the place for you. Enjoy!

“Great value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2010

I read about Catanzaro’s in the lonely planet travel guide and as it was written in 2008, it suggested it was pricier than it actually was. It’s absolutely wonderful, great food, friendly staff and lovely wine, we were quite prepared to go there a second time if we didn’t find anywhere else.

We got there early, at 7.15pm and there was queuing outside the door. By the time we left, the restaurant was full and more people waiting. As below, I think we were the only tourists in the restaurant at the time. Some people may find the atmosphere a bit funny. It’s nice in terms of laughter and chatter, but it’s definitely casual dining, it’s quite lit and open.

We were sat right in front of the pizza oven, which was quite warm, but fun to watch while we munched on delicious complimentary bread and olives. Two of us had pizza, which was great, and my friend had a vegetarian lasagne, which she raved about! It was a really large portion too. The Moroccan red wine we ordered, I think it’s La Guilez, was only 105DM and it was absolutely stunning!

We were so impressed we each had a pudding, tiramisu, crème brulee and panacotta. My favourite was the crème brulee though. It’s really delicious food here, and so reasonable – 60DM a pizza! Definitely go and try it out.

“Casual dining with excellent food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2010

We visited Catanzaro twice during a trip to Marrakesh. It is very friendly, with primarily local families as guests. We were the only Americans in the place both nights. Our two dinners here were great, as was the service. The second night, they remembered us, and had our same table reserved. We enjoyed baked salmon, two different pasta dishes,a pizza, ice cream, and the wonderful tomato and mozzarella salad during our visits here. All very well prepared, and at very reasonable prices. It is located in the Ville Nouvelle, not far from the Medina. Reservations required due to the popularity.
