5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2011

My boyfriend organised a surprise trip to Marrakesh for me for my 30th birthday in December and we stayed at Monriad for 4 nights. The Riad is in an excellent location - very close to the main square, and very close to the typical 'streets' in the Medina (packed with shops, donkeys, mopeds and vendors) but still very peaceful and quiet.

The Riad itself is a beautiful building - the rooms are modern and luxurious but have a Morrocan feel to the decor. The roof terrace is lovely, especially at night. The breakfast is very generous including bread, eggs, pancakes and more, and the service was great. All the staff at the Riad were really helpful - in Marrakesh you will often need advice and in particular directions, and the staff were brilliant at organising taxi's and bookings for us, and giving us general advice.

I loved staying at Monriad in the Medina, it's a lovely place that the owners restored the building with a lot of care and love. The location is unbeatable and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The owners are nice and helpful and the staff is great. Have breakfast on the roof if you have chance or have a tea around sunset, it's defintely worth it!

The Riad was very helpful in arranging a taxi for our arrival. Most riads are in very tiny alleyways making them difficult to find if your taxi does not know where he has to go so it helps if the Riad can arrange a taxi for you. We paid 15 Euros from the airport for a 20 minute journey.
They also helped us book a Hammam (a Marrakech must do) and a relaxing body massage at a local Spa called Les Bains De Marrakech.

The riad itself is small (10 rooms) but very pleasant and situated within a 5 minute walk of the Jamaa el Fna main sqaure. It is a great place to explore the Medina area from.
The staff (especially Kevin) were very helpful and always around when you needed them.
There is no swimming pool, essentially just a small paddling pool.
The rooms were clean (a little lacking in wardrobe space) but if you needed anything (hairdryer for example) you simply had to ask and you would get it immediately.

I would definitely recommend this Riad for a City break.
