“Beautiful, comfortable, quiet riyad in the heart of the Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

We stayed in Riyad Lila wa Leila for a week , a family of 4. It was really a wonderful experience. Although our first time in Morroco and in a bit of a culture shock when we arrived late in the evening, the house keeper Fouzia and her son Abdul were there to greet us and make us feel very comfortable and safe. The house itself is a traditional riyad with a garden in the middle of the house and the rooms in two levels all around it. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Each of our teenage daughters chose a suite of her own with a comfortable double bed, traditional furniture and big bathroom . They felt like princesses! We chose the master bedroom which has such elaborate decorations that we were in awe lying in bed and looking around us . There were also two living rooms to chose from to sit around or surf the net, and a dining room where a rich breakfast was prepared for us every day. The riyad was kept very clean at all times. Although the riyad is a small walking distance from the souks, major sites and the large square of Jemaa el Fna, it is very quite. Fouzia showed us how to navigate the small streets to and from the riyad, answered all our queries on things to do and to our request arranged for us excursions to Esaouirra and Ait Benhadou which were unforgettable. I highly recommend Riyad Lila wa Leila to visitors to Marrakech for a real Moroccan experience combined with personalized service , comfort and security.

We stayed in the Douria room which was incredibly special. The intricate carvings and paint are like something you might see in a museum. With soaring ceilings and rich details, the room is spacious, comfortable, and clean. Our hosts, Fouzia and her son Abdou, took great care of us during our stay. The communication during booking was quick and helpful with a taxi arranged to pick us up at the airport. Our hosts greeted us warmly when we arrived at midnight and served us delicious mint tea with biscuits. They were always available and happy to help out with anything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We'll be back!

We stayed here in October 2012, and didn’t regret our choice at all. The riad is traditionally decorated and has a number of communal areas to relax, including a roof terrace. It's located in the medina area, near to the Musee de Marrakech and the Ali ben Youssef Medersa. It’s an easy walk through the souks to Djemma el-Fna, and we didn't experience any hassle until right in the square. However, I'd recommend contacting the owner to arrange transportation on first arrival. Hassan, the owner, is friendly, and provides personalised advice on places to visit. We booked an enjoyable trip to the Atlas mountains through him. Mint tea and sweet pastries were provided when we returned from each day's sightseeing. You can hear the call to prayer in the morning and really feel that you are staying in proper Marrakech.

I stayed at the Riyad for almost a week and it felt like home. It has a really cosy, warm and calm atmosphere which is unbelieveable since it is situated at the heart of the Medina and only minutes form Jemaa El Fna. The rooms open up unto a courtyard with a beautiful, leavy orange tree. The room I stayed in was comfortable, clean and spacious. The owner was wonderful and very attentive. Make sure to also dine at the Riyad because the food was delicious. Going back to Marrakesh is for me also definitely going back to Lela wa leila.

We rented the whole house for our entire family (our family with 2 kids 6 and 8, their uncle and 4 grand-parents !) and spent 5 magical days in Marrakesh. The house is convenient and decorated with authentic style and very good taste. Its location is ideally close to the souks and Jemaa-El-Fna, however the house is quiet and peaceful. Hassan took great care of us and made us feel really at home, he is a fantastic host. Breakfast was delicious and quite filling, as well as the evening meals Hassan and Fatima cooked for us. Both of them were both discreet and careful. Hassan organised car transfers to and from the airport as well as our day in the Ourika Valley.
We strongly recommend the Riyad Lila Wa Leila. If we ever go back to Marrakesh, we will definitely stay there again.

This peaceful clean and enchanting Riyad is a haven of calm in the heart of the Medina. Hassan was always on hand when we needed, quietly spoken with excellent English, he was able to organize trips and taxis as we needed as well as magic maps to navigate the warren of passages in the Medina. Dinner can be provided which was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. All we would thoroughly recommend Lila Wa Leila to other travellers

This was my very first trip to Marrakech. I and my friends stayed at the Lila wa Leila and thoroughly enjoyed the warmth and special attention we received to every request we had. Hassan is an exceptional host and made us all feel so much at home in the Riad. Each room is beautifully decorated. Hassan organised our trips to Essaouira and a visit to the Atlas mountain as well as our transfers to and from the airport. We had our evening meals prepared after a weary day of sightseeing and shopping, and I must add that each meal was absolutely scrumptious. We started each day with a breakfast of fresh fruit, orange juice, pancakes, croissantes, yoghurts....Lila wa Leila is an absolute haven and I do not hesitate to recommend this lovely riad to anyone who is looking for the comforts of home. The Riad is located in the Medina and a short walk to the Souks!
