One word: amazing! My friend and I spent about a week in Morocco and traveled between a few cities, and this riad was without a doubt a highlight. My bags decided to stay in Casablanca overnight (thanks, Royal Air Maroc!), and Valerie was kind enough to make all the phone calls to identify when it arrived and schedule a taxi to go pick it up (customs doesn't allow delivery). Because all my toiletries were in that bag, she was even kind enough to give me a kit with rose water, cotton pads for my face, and Q-tips. Shampoo and the like were already included in the room.
Then there was breakfast. My dear…sweet…Jesus….SO delicious! There wasn't one thing on that table that wasn't homemade. The yogurt was DELICIOUS, the jams were insane, and I think she ruined orange juice for me forever. It was so fresh and sweet…I've spent the last week in Spain and want to throw all other orange juices in people's faces. (j/k) But the best part were the pancakes. The staff would alternate between a moroccan pancake that was flaky (recommend you smother in honey) and one that literally translated to "1,000 holes." My friend and I were sure that Valerie's staff would comment on the sheer amount of food we ate. It was all fabulous.
The riad itself was probably the most beautiful boutique hotel I've ever been in. The decor is gorgeous, and they always light candles at night by the pool which gives it this beautiful ambience. We loved spending nights laying out on the oversized pillows by the fire and chatting for hours -- so gorgeous! The rooms were simple, but I was in love with our bathroom. If I could build the same thing in the US, I would. No more tiles for this gal! And my favorite part was that there was no TV. I spend all day at work in front of screens -- three computer screens, iPhone ringing, with some news channel on in the office. I just want to unplug when I'm on vacay, and that's exactly what Valerie and her team were able to help us do.
I forgot to mention her AWESOME recommendations. There was a hammam she advised we go to, and it was by far the BEST of the two hammams we went to while we were there. And super cheap compared to the states. Just ask her for recommendations on everything…she won't steer you wrong. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
Tip: just arrange ahead of time to have Valerie get someone to drive you in the first time to the riad. The streets are very maze-like, and if it's your first time in Morocco, it's easy to get lost. After that, she'll give you a map to get around. Well worth the extra money.
