“Rock the Kasbah”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

This Hotel exceeded our expectations from some of the other reviews I have read about it on here. We booked a 4 night Half board experience at the Zalagh Kasbah Hotel & Spa 4* in November. The hotel staff were so helpful they could not do enough, they have a great shop their which has great gifts from Kaftans, to leather shoes and they have a wonderful man who handcrafts beautiful silver and brass items, who will also personalise them for you.
The hotel offers a bus from the hotel to La Medina and it runs at set times and will pick you back up when you want to return. The hotel can taylor trips to suit if you wish to explore Marrakech further, otherwise just relax and enjoy the beautiful pool side settings. The helpful friendly staff in this hotel make the stay worth while as they can not do enough to help. Perfect place to stay for families, couples and single travellers as there are alwasy people around to talk which was nice.
The Spa is relaxing and offers a wide range of treatments. The Food is good and there is a wide variety of things that kids and adults will enjoy. The decor and setting of the hotel is beautiful and I would return to this hotel for a luxurious relaxing retreat.

Fleetway might have warned us that the hotel would be freezing cold with no heating and that the food was not only cold it was disgraceful. The staff in the foyer wore coats all the time.
I have been a chef over 20 years and have never seen such disgusting food - in containers with 2 candles underneath to keep it "warm". Bland ,stale and very poor - everyone was complaining. The outside cafe did not open until the Thursday we were there.
Eating food in your coat because it was so cold in not very enjoyable nor is not very nice to eat with birds flying around in the "restaurant".
Had to spend our evenings in our room as the hotel was freezing.
Certainly will not recommend Fleetway to anyone as travel agents.

We stayed a couple of nights on our tour and enjoyed it very much. The pool is very large, with many lounges. It was great to swim after a long hot day in the medina. The restaurant was fantastic. The rooms were nice and large, with a large bath and all amenities. We had a nice room facing the pool. I think the hotel and staff were nice. It was pretty hot, so walking around the area was not an option for us. The gift shop down stairs had a great selection of goods, and hand made crafts at reasonable prices, without the stress of haggling in the medina. Do NOT let any of the women offer you a "free" henna tattoo. They will grab you and start drawing while talking to you then demand a very ridiculous price. Marrakech was a fantastic city!

We had a good stay. The staff were friendly and mostly spoke English. Our room was spacious and was spotlessly clean. We overlooked the pool and had a nice balcony. The terrace area and pool were lovely although it was too cold for us to swim. The shuttle bus had a timetable but the driver often returned to collect people who could not fit in. The food was average but not dissimilar to other meals we had in Morocco.
All in all we felt that the hotel was not as bad as we had feared from reading other reviews.

I recently stayed here with my sister, the holiday having been booked through Travelzoo, courtesy of Fleetway Travel. The first room we were given was situated on the balcony above the reception and bar area and was extremely noisy, resulting in very little sleep. This room was also very small and dingy and had neither safe nor fridge. We requested a new room the following morning and were given a much larger room facing the pool. We also had a fridge and a safe - the only complaint was only 3 hangers in the wardrobe - we were promised them in 'cinq minutes' and never ever got them! The bathroom was okay though some of the towels have definitely seen better days!
The pool area was lovely - plenty of beds and chairs and a very helpful attendant. The gardens were also very pretty and well tended. The reception staff were okay, though a smile here and there would have been a bonus.
There is a courtesy bus going to the Medina several times per day - a good service, though the taxis aren't very expensive either.
The food was absolutely dire - the salads consisted of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber with an occasional coleslaw or side dish, the buffet food was invariably lukewarm with no description of what was on offer and the desserts were always cake or clementines. We were very surprised at the lack of fruit on offer, either at breakfast or in the evenings. There is a shopping centre with a Carrefour supermarket and several eating places just down the road - much better food than the hotel!
Overall, I would say this hotel is just okay - at least we were only there for four nights and didn't pay a fortune either!

Room Tip: Ask for room away from bar and reception area - we were in 3080 for the first night and it was awful...

After reading a lot of the reviews we almost cancelled this hotel and went to another, however we decided to wait until we got there to see if it was as bad as some of the reviews stated. When we arrived earlier than check in time the staff advised us of our room and said that even though it wasn't ready that we could put our bags in so that we could go to the town straight away. The reception staff were always pleasant and helpful. Every morning the cleaners would be washing all the corridor floors and polishing and cleaning mirrors etc it was spotless. The courtesy bus only held 12 people and as it was busy if there were more people (and if willing to wait) he came back for a second run. The biggest fault was the food, unless you got there spot on 7.30 the food was only warm and very little left. Not much choice.Always the same dessert (although in my opinion) the best thing on the menu. Breakfast again wasn't fantastic but edible.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and was a real bargain for the price we paid.

We've just come back from a 4 night break staying at this hotel. In our group we had 4 small children and 3 adults and honestly after reading some of the reviews I was terrified about going, but I can honestly say that this hotel was much better than I had expected. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable. Cleanliness in the rooms is an area for improvement, the bath tubs need to be scrubbed a bit better and the furniture needs to be dusted! However the staff were pleasant and were willing to help. Our room did have a fridge but unfortunately no safe, we did ask but it never arrived. However we did ask for a baby cot and that arrived quickly as did the heater we asked for (the heating in the room didn't seem to warm the room up so the hotel had portable heaters). The food in the restaurant was average, it was warm and there was choice however dishes weren't labelled so it was often a guessing game as to what u might be eating, the food tasted ok though.
Overall I would say this hotel was ok, the pool and the spa are beautiful. I would stay here again but next time I want to be closer to the main square. However saying that this hotel was lovely to come back to after spending the day in the hustle and bustle of the souks!
There is a large shopping centre nearby to (almazaar) this was a huge benefit as you could get all your essentials like water at very cheap prices. It also has some good places to eat and a large indoor children's play centre which proved invaluable for our little ones!

Room Tip: We asked for a pool view room, this was lovely and there was no smell (we were on the 3rd floor)
